Chinese Street Food on the Ancient Silk Road - Muslim Chinese Street Food - Street Food China
We made our way to Xining, on the Ancient Silk road, to try the best Chinese street food and halal Chinese Muslim food. We began our journey in Chengdu, and took a 24 hour slow train to Xining. We came to try a ton of street food and specialty halal street snacks. Xining is located in the northwest of China, in Qinghai province, which isclose to the far west Xinjiang province, our ultimate destination of Kashgar. Xining is home to the Hui people along with a sizable population of Tibetans, and the food was fantastic! There were a lot of Chinese street food and Islam muslim Chinese cuisine. Just like you, I love street food around the world, and I travel for food. I came here to eat!

Street food in China is something I'm always looking to find more of! So we took the train to Xining, China and on our first day, only got to try a little bit of Muslim Hui Halal Street food. But definitely some of the Best Street Food in China that I've tried! The Chinese food and halal food is so good in Xining! I've eaten street food in Bejing, street food in Shanghai, street food in Chengdu, and street food in Hong Kong, all of which has been amazing, but I have to say that the chinese street food in Xining has been some of the best!

When you think of China, you probably don't think of Islam and Halal food, but that's exactly what you'll find in the Northwest, especially as you make your way further west. We made our way for a food trip to the dusty and bustling classic Silk Road city of Xining specifically to try the unique halal food of the Hui people. This is the side of China not many people experience or even travel to, and we came here to have an authentic travel and food tour. We found a ton of food similar to countries further west, with insane amounts of BBQ lamb and beef leaving me and Ting Ting absolutely speechless.

Here are the addresses/locations for the places that I ate Chinese Hui Muslim Halal Street Food in Xining, China. You can show a taxi driver these addresses and he will bring you there:

Amazing Hand Pulled Noodles:青海省西宁市城东区东关大街伊家面馆, 中国
Delicious Liangpi Sour Jelly noodles:青海省西宁市东关清真寺背后三甲集哈拜力甜醅, 中国

Overland Silk Road: 2 years 70000 Km solo road trip in our van from Europe to Japan and back

A road trip that proved much more challenging than we expected.
This short movie will give you a taste of what we have been through.

Our goal was to visit as many remote places as possible and spend time with locals as much as we could to learn about what they have been through in the past and the way they live nowadays. It’s been an incredibly enriching experience.

We ended up driving and living around the following nations:
Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia And Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Bulgaria, Turkey, Kurdistan, Abkhazia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Artsakh Republic (Nagorno-Karabakh), Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Siberia, Korea, Japan, Jewish Autonomous Oblast, Buryatia Republic, Mongolia, Altai Republic, Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Kalmykia, Chechen Republic, Dagestan, Nakhchivan Republic, Romania, Ukraine, Transnistria, Moldova, Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Luxembourg, France.

Main challenges have been: Cancelled visas, some countries with date-specific visas forcing us to be at a border on a specific day and therefore having to kind of plan our whole trip backwards, rough off-road tracks in remote areas, harsh climate ranging from +47c in Iran to -27c in Siberia. Seasons were also an important factor, even though it is not possible to be in every spot at the best time of the year, seasons can definitively enlighten or ruin your trip!

EXPLORING CHINA'S SILK ROAD • 中国丝绸之路 PART 1: Xining & Qinghai | China Travel Vlog | Allison Paige

WATCH IN 4K!
Today, my friends and I embarked on a big adventure. An 8 day tour across China's Silk Road. The variety of scenery and activities that we experienced on this tour was unreal! We rode camels through the Gobi Desert, slept in a traditional yurt in the Rainbow Mountains, walked on a lake that mirrored the sky...the list goes on and on. We loved interacting with everyone along the way too. The kindness of the people I have met on my travels through China always warms my heart.

PART 1 shows our travels from Shanghai to Xining and our first two days exploring Ta'er Monastery and Qinghai Lake - the largest salt lake in China. Subscribe for PART 2 where we walk along Chaka Salt Lake - the mirror of the sky!

1. Ta'er Monastery • 塔尔寺 • སྐུ་འབུམ་བྱམས་པ་གླིང - 1:50
2. Biking through flower fields • 骑车- 7:56
2. Qinghai Lake • 靑海湖 - 10:42

Which sight on the Silk Road is your favorite? :) I hope you enjoy this video and if you have any suggestions for where I should explore next in China, leave me a comment below! Thanks! :)

SILK ROAD - CHINA

HERE WE GO! This is a travel music video of my journey along China's epic Silk Road in December 2016. Please give it a thumbs up, share and subscribe!

Most of the footage is captured with a DJI Phantom Drone and the rest with either Canon DSLR or iPhone.

The route started in Lanzhou, Gansu province and then westwards to Urumqi mostly by high-speed train. The video loosely follows this route chronologically; so hopefully you'll enjoy being somewhat informed too! Any questions about these places, please ask.

---Lanzhou - One of China's largest cities
---Zhangye - Home to wetlands, plains, desert and mountains; we visited Binggou Canyon and Danxia rainbow mountains.
---Jiayuguan - site of the western most point of The Great Wall of China and Jiayuguan historic fort.
---Dunhuang - Here, the first spring - a crescent moon shaped oasis in the middle of a huge range of desert sand dunes.
---Turpan - Wine country! (Well, grapes).. and the epic flaming mountains, Turpan has one of the oldest underground irrigation systems which feeds water from the mountains to civilization.
---Urumqi - A huge sprawling city full of many ethnic minorities in China with very interesting food and a lot of police checks!

Obviously there were also a fair few small towns etc I don't know the name of. After this we went onto Georgia which will follow in a different video. Thanks for watching, love to all! X
