I take this trip to Setti Fatma virtually ever time I’m in Marrakech.
It’s not far to travel, the scenery is stunning and after the trek up to the falls you can just sit and relax next to the river waiting for your tagine to arrive.

We hired a local travel guide to take us up to the waterfalls. Probably a bit expensive but we had a great time and nice to keep the locals at work. The “hike” is manageable for most, but it does get quite slippery so be careful. Worth the hike to the top to see the cascade.

La vallée de l'Ourika - Marrakech au Maroc
La vallée de l'Ourika se trouve à seulement 30 kilomètres de Marrakech.
C'est une destination qui plaira aux touristes qui veulent fuir, le temps d'une journée, l'agitation et le bourdonnement de la ville ocre.
En effet, contrairement à sa voisine qui a succombé au tourisme de masse, la vallée de l'Ourika est restée bien préservée et a su rester authentique.
Elle permet au visiteur de découvrir un mode de vie marocain montagnard qu'il aura du mal à trouver ailleurs.
Mais la vallée de l'Ourika n'a pas que son authenticité pour attirer et charmer les visiteurs, elle abrite de nombreuses curiosités qui valent amplement le détour.
Parmi ces lieux et monuments, vous avez:
Setti-Fatma, véritable paradis pour les randonneurs. Il s'agit d'un petit village pittoresque abritant 7 cascades.
Tnine-de-l'Ourika (lundi de l'Ourika) est un petit village intéressant, à visiter les lundis pour son souk traditionnel, il n'y a rien à voir le reste de la semaine.
Le Jardin de Timalizene, un merveilleux jardin parsemé d'arbres et de végétation typique de la région.
La Safranière de l'Ourika une ferme très connue pour sa production de safran, la meilleure période pour la visiter est au moment de la récolte, soit de fin octobre à la mi-novembre.
Le jardin bio-aromatique de l'Ourika, visite qui ravira les passionnés de plantes médicinales, on y trouve des milliers d'espèces de végétation aux vertus incroyables.
L'écomusée berbère de la vallée de l'Ourika, il s'agit d'un musée qui a pour but de renseigner les visiteurs sur le mode de vie berbère de la vallée à travers des photographies et des objets divers tels que des tapis, des vêtements, des bijoux, etc.
Pour s'y rendre: Les touristes emprunteront la destination de Bab ighli avant d'atteindre la vallée qu'ils suivront à leur gré.
Sur le chemin, beaucoup de marchands se sont installés, ils proposent notamment des poteries artisanales, véritable tradition manuelle de la région.
Sur le net, les offres d'excursions pour la vallée de l'Ourika au départ de Marrakech sont nombreuses, tâchez de bien comparer les prix avant de vous décider, les tarifs passent du simple au double d'une agence l'autre.

Setti Fatma Waterfalls Day Trip from Marrakech // Morocco 2019 Travel
Setti Fatma is a small village at the foothill of the Atlas Mountains and was a pleasant delight away from the busy hustle of Marrakech. The hour long journey makes for a perfect 25 Euro day trip to experience more than the city itself.
The tour bus takes you via every possible tourist stop possible which consisted of... Camel rides which were very disappointing, expensive and short. A herb traditional Moroccan herb garden and an old traditional farmhouse.
The 7 cascades tour was fantastic and well worth doing. We did a 4k hike which left us with beautiful views round every corner. There was a small drinks refreshment shop halfway up if you need a drink, and saves you carrying around a bottle.
We didn't get the change to see much of Setti Fatma itself but the waterfall hike I would definitely recommend.

Easy Hike To Setti Fatma Waterfalls (Morocco)
Here is one thing to add to your list of things to do when visiting Marrakech Morocco.
We hiked the Atlas Mountains to Setti Fatma waterfalls in Morocco. The drive time from Marrakech to Setti Fatma is about an hour.
It wasn’t an easy hike but the view was the reward.????
Tips before you go:
1. Access is free but get a local guide. It is dangerous to do it on your own. We paid our guide $20.
2. Wear comfortable shoes.
3. Take some water with you.
4. Enjoy each moment.

Tallest Waterfall in North Africa | Ouzoud Falls, MOROCCO
We always love to see stunning nature and the falls are truly spectacular but especially unique because you can do a boat ride right up to the waterfalls as well as see wild barbary macaque monkeys in the area too.
We booked our tour from Get Your Guide which included transport, tour guide and the boat ride. If you're going yourself, the boat ride is a very reasonable 20dh. It's about a 3 hour ride from Marrakech to Ouzoud Falls.

Waterfall Climb at Sti Fadma Setti Fatma, Morocco
The waterfalls at Sti Fadma are most popular to climb. The start of the footpath is easily located but on the opposite side of the river from where the buses or taxi's drop you off.
We took a shared taxi from Marrakech at the Grand Taxi Station (link here to Google Maps here:
Although we were one passenger short, our small group decided we would pay the additional cost so we could get there more quickly. Approx 35 Dirhams per couple.
Our return was by public bus and changing to the ALSA bus (No 25) at the town of Ourika. The bus drops you right in the centre of Marrakech. A short walk from the nearest gateway into the medina for us.
There are around 7 waterfalls and climbing is not for the faint hearted. It is precarious and also slippery.
You can join a guided group, or do as we did and just followed everyone else. We all assisted each other by pulling and pushing people upwards, depending on where they were in the groups in front or behind. The guides also helped pull or show people the way, even if they hadn't paid to join them.
We managed 2 waterfalls - although I had no intentions of climbing all the way with my asthma.
Afterwards, we made our way back down and had our lunch seated at one of the tables set into the rocks of the riverbed of the Ourika River. It's freezing cold!
Some amazing rickety wooden footbridges make the whole journey an amazing experience.

Setti Fatma in the Ourika Valley, Morocco
Setti Fatma lies at the end of the Ourika Valley in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Along each side of the river are cafes with lounges beside the river. We take a hike with our guide up to the waterfalls. To reach the falls we need to clamber over boulders and cross the river over handmade bridges. You can stop for a tajine on the way up.
