Many people come for Semuc Champey, but I particularly fell in love with the experience of visiting the Lanquin Caves, hiking to the Semuc Champey Mirador, and eating lunch with the locals. Zephyr Lodge is also an experience in itself, with beautiful dorms, deluxe dorms, private rooms, cabins, an infinity pool with the best view, and a restaurant on site there is everything you need. My opinion is this is the best place to stay when visiting Lanquin, Guatemala and Semuc Champey.

Hi! We are Eric and Sarah, a couple of Canadians currently travelling around Central America. We’ve been married since 2017 but have known each other since we were only 6 years old! SEMUC CHAMPEY, Una MARAVILLA EN GUATEMALA ????
Visité el que para muchos, es la 8va maravilla del mundo.
¡No te imaginas en que país queda!
Debido al bosque subtropical que rodea al lugar, el mismo cuenta con una enorme riqueza ecológica, entre la que se han identificado más de 100 especies de aves; 34 de mamíferos, 25 de reptiles y anfibios; y 10 de peces además de más de 120 especies distintas de árboles. Consta con un mirador de 700 m de altura para observar los 350 m de largo de las pozas naturales que conforman Semuc Champey, con cataratas de hasta 40 pies de alto y todas las pozas alimentadas por riachuelos del lugar.
Para llegar a este lugar, se debe viajar de la Ciudad de Guatemala por la carretera al Atlántico, llegar al pueblo del Rancho, km 81, desviarse en busca de la ciudad de Cobán, km 216, y de allí a Lanquín, luego abordar un pick up que lo llevará hasta a Semuc Champey.

We found paradise at Semuc Champey in Guatemala’s jungle interior.
Semuc Champey is a beautiful natural watering hole with pristine waterfalls in the middle of the Guatemalan jungle. Getting there was NOT easy (check out our last video, linked below)! BUT when we finally arrived, we found ourselves swimming in pristine turquoise waters and hiking up to an epic viewpoint.

Semuc Champey, Guatemala - This is Paradise!
Semuc Champey, often described as the most beautiful place in Guatemala, is a wonderful natural marvel of six turquoise infinity pools over the Cahabón River near Lanquin.
Höhlenwanderung in Semuc Champey (Lanquin Guatemala)
Von Quetzaltenango oder auch Xela genannt geht es mit dem Shuttlebus weiter nach Lanquin. Hier übernachten wir im Hostel Vista Verde um das berühmte Naturschutzgebiet Semuc Champey zu besuchen. Eine abenteuerliche Fahrt später sind wir auch schon mitten im Abenteuer: nur mit einer Kerze bewaffnet in einer riesigen Höhle! Anschließend gehts weiter zum Tubing und hoch zum wunderschönen Aussichtspunkt auf die Wasserfälle. Das Baden dort ist dann Kirsche auf der Sahnetorte.

Natural Pools and Caves: Semuc Champey, Guatemala Vanlife
We finally got to ride in the back of a pickup! These colectivos are no joke, but bouncing around is more fun than taking the van on this road.
Our first stop on our cave tour is Lanquin cave, at 6pm all the bats flee for their dinner. We had to see it!
Lanquin cave cost us 30Q for the entrance, or around $3.75USD.
From Lanquin we were able to catch our colectivo and head to the main attraction, Semuc Champey. With the beautiful hike and even better pools Semuc Champey is a perfect destination.
Semuc Champey was 50Q each, that included the mirador and swimming in the natural pools. K’anba was 60Q each, which included the tour as well as access to a mirador hike and the river fed pool.
For our adventurous side we made our way to K’anba cave to do a candlelit water cave tour. Wadding through the water while holding onto ropes and only using a candle for light was so much fun! An adventure made more intense with optional jumping points from the guide.
Of course after all this our furry friends needed some outdoor time so we found a perfect place where we can all wander around.

Hi everyone, and welcome to Semuc Champey in Central Guatemala. This lagoon with crystal clear water between lush mountains is not just only extremely beautiful but also very secluded in the middle of the rainforest. You will find regular shuttles from most touristy places in Guatemala, including Flores, Antigua and Atitlan that bring you to Lanquin from where you will be picked up by a 4WD from your accommodation that will bring you right there.
