Space Station 20th: astronauts celebrate humans’ home in space
Monday 2 November, 2020 marks 20 years since the first crew took up residence on the International Space Station. Since then, 240 people including 18 ESA astronauts have lived and worked on the orbital outpost, carrying out essential research to benefit life on Earth.
In this clip, ESA astronauts Luca Parmitano, Alexander Gerst, Thomas Pesquet, Tim Peake, Andreas Mogensen, André Kuipers, Christer Fuglesang, Frank De Winne and Reinhold Ewald pay tribute to the Station. ESA Director General Jan Wörner and NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine also speak about the Station’s significance for space exploration and international collaboration.
The next ESA mission to the International Space Station is set for 2021, when Thomas Pesquet will become the first European to fly on a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft for his Alpha mission.

For the first time in history, a private flight into space with a crew SpaceX launches its first fl
KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Florida - SpaceX's rocket launched Wednesday night from the launch pad here.
on it, four Americans embarked on a three-day orbiting trip that would not be like anything else.
None of the team works for NASA. The mission, known as Inspiration4, is the first orbital flight
in which none of the people on board is a professional astronaut, and the government is, by and large, an outside observer.
Inside the capsule is billionaire entrepreneur Jared Isaacman, a trained pilot and founder of payment processing company Shift4 Payments.
and three others he selected and paid to travel with him: Hayley Arsenault, a 29-year-old medical assistant and cancer survivor;
Christopher Sembroski, data engineer at Lockheed Martin; and Sian Proctor, a geologist and former NASA astronaut candidate.
The capsule then went into orbit at an altitude of about 360 miles, higher than the International Space Station and the Hubble Space Telescope.
Indeed, the Inspiration4 team will be farther from Earth than anyone else since the end of Apollo's lunar missions in the 1970s.
Let's wish them good luck ..
