Avoid These SCAMMERS! ???????? | Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina

If you've been to large cities you know the problem: beggars asking you for money and scammers trying to steal your money. Every country and city has this problem. It's bad for the image of a country and they don't add value to society in most cases. Some youtubers like Dale Philip, Luke Damant and Kurt Caz also came across a bunch of scammers in their video's. This beggar wants my money but he is a bit to honest in front of the camera. Let me know what you think... :)

Sarajevo - A Tour Of The City That Changed The World!

In this video I'll take you on a tour of Sararjevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This is the city in which the 1914 assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand happened, an event that sparked World War I.

A city that suffered the longest siege of a capital city in the history of modern warfare, for a total of 1,425 days, from April 1992 to February 1996, during the Bosnian War.

It's a city that still shows its scars, but also it's hope.

We'll explore the Otterman era old quarter of Baščaršija as well as its more European side, separated by just a line across the street. We'll touch on it's history, eat the food and see it's new side.

Come along and explore this fascinating city!

Exploring The BEST Things To Do In SARAJEVO!!????????

Sarajevo's a city that we guarantee you'll fall in love with. From the Old Town, to the stories of resilience, to the FOOD - this city will leave such a lasting impression on anyone who visits. Come along as we explore the best things to do in Sarajevo!

We started off by grabbing some traditional Bosnian coffee at a really cool place called Ministry of Ćejf. This small little shop in Old Town has a really cool look/feel to it. Although it was a bit different from what we're used to, make sure to try it when visiting Sarajevo!

Next up was a stop in Baščaršija. This is considered the cultural & historical center of the city and dates back to the 15th century. You’ll find all kinds of shops, tea houses, and restaurants. At the center is is Sebilj Fountain, a pseudo-Moorish fountain that’s one of the city’s most recognizable symbols. It attracts people as well as pigeons, which is why it’s often referred to as Pigeon Square.
3. Visit the Latin Bridge/Museum of Sarajevo
After walking through the bazaar we headed over toward the Latin Bridge to the Museum of Sarajevo. This museum has a very notable location as it sits on the corner where Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated in 1914. This event is widely considered as the moment that lead tensions toward the beginning of WWI in Europe.

Next up were two museums centered around the Bosnia War in the 90s. The first is the Museum of Crimes against Humanity & Genocide. This museum displays the personal belongings of victims while exploring the darker history of the Bosnian War. The second museum we visited was the Gallery 11/07/95. This museum highlights the Srebrenica genocide. This genocide took place in and around the town of Srebrenica in July of 1995 where over 8,000 Bosniak Muslim men and boys were killed. These are extremely sad & sobering museums and exhibits, but they’re vital to fully understand the strength and resolve of the people in Bosnia.

In the same square as Gallery 11/07/95 is the catholic Neo-gothic church Sacred Heart Cathedral. Completed in 1887, it was damaged in the Siege of Sarajevo, but not completely destroyed. This is the largest cathedral in Bosnia & Herzegovina & is positioned right in the center of Old Town.

Sarajevo's got a huge muslim community & the city is dotted with stunning mosques. Gazi Huzrev-beg Mosque, or Bey’s Mosque, is a 16th century Ottoman mosque in Old Town and is the largest mosque in the country. Although it suffered significant damage during the war, it’s been reconstructed and is seen as the most important architectural monument from the time of Ottoman rule in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

One other really interesting building close by is Sarajevo City Hall, or Vijećnica. This building dates back to 1896, when Bosnia was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It was built in a pseudo-Moorish style is a tribute to the Muslim heritage here in the city. It’s functioned as a city hall, a Parliament House, and during the communist period, a library. At the time the library contained over 1.2 million books, but only 10-15% of the books were saved from the Siege of Sarajevo.

Bosnia REALLY knows how to cook, & you can't find much better food than at Klopa. We absolutely LOVED this restaurant and highly recommend it!

Vječna Vatra is the eternal flame of Sarajevo, and is such a perfect symbol of the spirit of the people here. It's an excellent reminder that no matter what the people of Sarajevo have gone through, they're an extraordinarily resilient people who remember their history in order to never repeat it.

We can't say enough how much we loved Sarajevo. We hope this helps you in case you ever visit, we know we will again! Thanks so much for watching & see you in a couple of days!

LIFE AFTER WAR | The CHARACTER of SARAJEVO BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA | A country with NO LOGIC

Every Country Has its good and bad things. This country has no logic and it makes sense once you learn a bit more about their history and about their people.
As I (Maria) was growing up, I saw from my tv what was happening in Sarajevo in 1992-95 and as a kid, I couldn't understand how this was happening so close to home and no one intervened to safe lives.

Today we have a story to tell, and Sarajevo has a special character to show. You can see, it and feel it in the street, you can breathe the character of Sarajevo.

We were able to walk by the Mayor of Sarajevo, so you can see this young and talented woman in the video for a second. Benjamina Karić was talking to the small business owners in Old Town, Sarajevo

We hope to be back to BiH in a month and be able to talk to more of you, please send us an email to @themamuchos so we can connect when we get back to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

DANGEROUS Travel Experience in BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA...

Welcome to this budget travel series of adventure and kindness, through the Balkan countries. Apo from Around the Good World is traveling the around the Balkans, having only 200€ in his pocket for 2 months!

On this episode, I left Sarajevo the capital of Bosnia & Herzegovina for Mostar again. I stayed at Mario's couchsurfing house there and I also met Irfan who showed me around and did my laundry! After 2 days, I started hitchhiking my way to Montenegro. Let's say that it wasn't that easy to hitchhike on that route, so I had to sleep in a football field, at a random village before next day that finally arrived close to the border and decided to take the bus from there, all the way to Kotor. It was inside the bus station, when this incident with this drunk guy happened and destroyed my mood, to arrive some hours later in Kotor...

Best Cities in the World to Visit: Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina

It’s never fair to compare one city to another. Some have things that make it unique that may not be for everyone. Cities are full of many of these nuances but to my pleasant surprise, one made me feel like I was back home in ways I didn’t expect. In today’s video, I want to tell you about the incredible city of Sarajevo located in Bosnia & Herzegovina and why it had quite literally everything I could ask for, plus more.

Representing the capital city of Bosnia & Herzegovina, Sarajevo is a melting pot of different religions and cultures and at every step, it’s as clear as day to see. You may find yourself walking and be greeted with a family heading for prayer at the Gaza Husrev-beg Mosque, the countries largest for the ever expanding Islamic community here. Walk a little further, and you’ll see people enjoying some traditional Bosnian Food in the form of Bureks and other forms of stuffed pie meals. There’s also a reality of a not so distant past where peace was seldomly found via shelling marks on older buildings from the Bosnian war in the mid 1990’s. However, walking around today, you’ll see a city for all that it’s been through, thriving with people visiting from all over the world, but surprisingly - still unknown to many.

But for the people looking to stay here for an upcoming trip, accommodation was rarely expensive and nightly stays ranged from $15 dollars and up per night. It was common to book through popular apps such as Booking.com, but then work out a deal in a pinch for an additional few days off platform to be paid by cash. So those looking to save additional money may be wise to keep this in mind.

One of the things I loved so much about Sarajevo was just the variety of things to do. If you’re in the mood to try different types of food, there were always many options to choose from. If you wanted to take advantage of the walkability and nature here, hikes were also a fun way to get outside the city center. Shopping is not something I speak to often but if you’re interested in clothes, books or anything between, it was always within walking distance, given that you’re near the city center/old town square region of Sarajevo. Walking tours are generally a go too for me and thankfully, there were plenty to choose from as well. Depending who your guide is, with so much history taking place here, and not always of the positive kind, it was fascinating to hear the perspectives of locals that may have lived through some of these events in some capacity, but chose to remain positive of what’s ahead versus dwell on the past. Needless to say, if you’re looking for ways to stay busy here, you’ll rarely have trouble finding things to do.

If one is looking for ways to get around, I was also impressed with the options available. You have the stables of cars, taxis and bicycles, but it was also common to see people commute via scooters, trains and my favorite mode of transportation, walking. This isn’t always a given depending where you are in the world, but the infrastructure of clean sidewalks, traffic and walk lights and well lit streets made this my preferred way to explore, and it may be yours as well.

Being this is a capital city, credit cards were generally accepted at most locations but cash in the form of the Bosnian Mark will likely be the easiest form of payment used during your visit.

Touching on this earlier, but diversity was another factor that surprised me so much. Not for any reason isolated to Sarajevo, but the diversity of people whether it was religion, ethnicity or age, mixed with just how everyone was able to coexist to effortlessly, was what reminded me of my hometown of Queens in New York City.

Also like NYC, I was impressed time and time again of all the food options available. Not only was the food delicious, but the costs of food were very accessible to people of all budgets. A dish of food could be as low as $2-$3 dollars, but this never meant the quality was questionable. Cafes and bakeries were also always available too which for anyone with a slight caffeine addiction like myself, this was more than appreciated.

When it came to safety, although I never felt uneasy walking around, it’s still best to keep belongings close by and to be aware of your surroundings. Most friendly face were just that, but it’s still always good to be cautious wherever you are, just in case intentions aren’t as clear.

This was a challenging video to put together as I had to digest my love for Sarajevo in just a few minutes but could’ve easily kept going. The grittiness on the surface of this city could potentially put people off. Considering what Sarajevo had to grow from, it’s amazing to see what it’s become. This is a city that even months removed from visiting, I keep in my thoughts as not only one of my favorite places I’ve ever visited, but a city I could wholeheartedly call home one day. I loved my time in Sarajevo, and I hope this video showed why.

How Safe Is Bosnia and Herzegovina for Travel?

Full safety review:

Bosnia and Herzegovina is a friendly European country located on the Balkan peninsula.

It was formerly part of Yugoslavia but gained independence in 1992 and it’s full of historic monuments and landmarks that all point to the time while it was a part of former Yugoslavia.

Bosnia and Herzegovina share its borders with Croatia to the north, west, and southwest, Serbia to the east, and Montenegro to the southeast.

Overall Bosnia and Herzegovina is generally a safe country. Its people are very kind and happy to help, and tourists especially shouldn't encounter any bigger problems in this country. Small towns do not face almost any serious crimes, though that's not the case with its capital, Sarajevo.
