Sailing Our Catamaran in the British Virgin Islands - Part 1 - Episode 50

After our six day passage from the Bahamas, we settle in to the typical rhythm in Tortola and sail up the southern chain of islands to North Sound on Virgin Gorda. Along the way we visit a lot of the typical charter spots, but manage to find some off the beaten path experiences as well.

Sailing The British Virgin Islands (1 of 2)

In this video, we’re going to show you what it's like sailing the British Virgin Islands. We’ll show you Spanish Town on Virgin Gorda, the famous geological attraction called The Baths. We’ll then sail over to Leverick Bay to catch a pirate singing show and give you a tour of the Leverick Bay Resort and Marina. Britican’s Captain, Simon, will do a drive-by of Bitter End and Saba Rock - two massive sailor hang-outs that were destroyed in hurricanes.

We’ll then sail down to Cooper Island to enjoy some raft fights and a drink at the Cooper Island Beach club.

Next, we anchor off Salt Key to then take the dingy to the Rhone Shipwreck site followed by a calm sail to Norman Island where there’s rumored to be buried treasure on the island. From Norman Island, we sail over to Great Harbor on Jost Van Dyke to visit the famous Soggy Dollar and visit Roxy’s. We’ll show you some rather horrific hurricane damage in Trellis Bay on Beef Island but change the atmosphere with a full moon party.

ep68 - Sailing USVI - St. John & St. Thomas – Hallberg-Rassy 54 Cloudy Bay – Mar 2019

Sailing through US Virgin Islands. Enjoying the delights of St. John beaches, the charm of Charlotte Amalie and an interesting road tour of St. Thomas.

From Soper’s Hole, Tortola, British Virgin Islands, we motor the short distance across to the island of St. John, US Virgin Islands, where we check-in at Cruz. The beaches of north-west St. John are extremely beautiful and we relax for full 5 days, exploring by dinghy and trekking. Visiting resorts still devastated by hurricane Irma and the ruins of Annaberg sugar plantation.
We then gently sail over to the busier and more developed main island of St. Thomas, and on the way, we pass our friends on s/v Gale, a Swan 66. On St. Thomas we have an interesting road trip around the whole island in a dashing red Jeep and spend some time to capture the Danish architecture of Charlotte Amalie, the main town in the USVIs. 17-26 March 2019
Next episode: La Culebra, Spanish Virgin Islands

Visited on St. John: Cruz town, Waterlemon Bay, Mary Bay, Francis Bay, Maho Beach, Trunk Bay, St. Peter Bay, Honeymoon Beach, Cinnamon Beach, Cruz Bay, Hansen Bay and Annaberg sugar plantation.
Visited on St. Thomas: Great St. James Island, Charlotte Amalie, Danish Quarter, French Quarter, Brewers Bay, Perseverance Bay, Bordeaux Bay, Hull Bay, Magen’s Bay, Coki Beach, St. John Bay, and Nazareth Bay.
