Exploring Vorkuta - Russian Ghost Town in Arctic | The Most Depressing Town in Russia

Despite the richest coal deposits that gave boost to the development of the city, Vorkuta and the adjacent settlements are rapidly emptying today. The mega project of the Soviet machine was not in demand among the heirs of the empire. Today, some districts of Vorkuta and surrounding villages are abandoned or are about to be completely deserted. How is Vorkuta living today? What's going on around her? What are the prospects for the main coal mining region in the north of Russia? I personally went to the Arctic to answer these questions.

The Reality of Life in Russia 2023 (bureaucratic nightmare)

This is our life in Russia in late 2022 / 2023. Traveling to Russia as a westerner has always been difficult, a bureaucratic nightmare, but this year is the first time Matt and I have really had any issues. We arrived in my hometown of Kemerovo, Siberia, after crossing in to Russia at Kaliningrad and flying to Novosibirsk. Once here and staying with my family, we went to register with the local authorities, but everything turned out to be a little complicated to say the least. This is a week in our lives here staying in Siberia as we hang out with my family and prepare for New years eve (the biggest celebration of the year in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and many other former Soviet countries). Welcome to a very cold, wintery Siberia.

Visiting a traditional Russian house (my aunties):

VISITING A TRADITIONAL RUSSIAN HOUSE 2023 - How some people in Russia live. Siberia Travel Vlog ????????

A traditional Russian house in Siberia, 2023. We visited my Aunties house in Kemerovo, Russia to show you how she and many Russian people live. In most cities in Russia the majority of people live in large apartment blocks but some live in their own houses. Living in a house such as this one comes with both benefits as well as, hardships, especially in the winter.

Is this what you expected a typical house in Russia to be like? How does it compare to where you are from?

Hope you find this video interesting, if you did leave a LIKE and don't forget to SUBSCRIBE for more videos from Russia and beyond.

Stranded In Russia's Creepiest Village

???????? People often ask how I get around Russia, well often I hitchhike from town to town. Sometimes it goes well, sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes I discover a weird place I'd rather not be in...

Born From Gulags, This Ex-USSR City Is The Most Depressing Place on Earth | Norilsk Russia

Located in the heart of Northern Siberia, sitting deep inside the Arctic permafrost, lies Norilsk, one of the northernmost inhabited cities in the world. Norilsk is Russia's most polluted city. It's nearly completely isolated, restricted from tourists, cannot be reached by road, and was built on the ruins of a forced labor camp. It inhabits 177,000 people.

Crossing The Caucasus | hiking across Russia, Georgia and Azerbaijan (short film)

In 2018, Richard Hartfield set off alone into Russia's North Caucasus Mountains. His plan was to follow a 1200km backpacking route that he'd made on his phone. It led through tightly-controlled border areas in Russia, Georgia and Azerbaijan. But this self-shot, solo hiking adventure soon evolved into something else: A celebration of human kindness, set within regions more often perceived as divided and volatile.

Crossing The Caucasus premiered as part of the Kendal Mountain Film Festival in 2021.

Having stayed in multiple different villages on my previous travels, I was inspired to do the same in Belarus. I reached out to several Belarusians and got the wonderful opportunity to visit Krupitsa village after meeting Ira through Couchsurfing. Ira was so excited to invite me to come and stay with her parents and her son. I was excited to see life in the countryside and got lucky to be present during Ira’s father's birthday.

GoPro POV Walking in the Russian countryside | Rural Russia | Nature Video | No music, no talking

I shot it back in April when the nature was yet all grey, gloomy and it was actually pretty cold, rainy and very windy. But there was still some beauty to it. Join me on another walk around the Russian countryside on this drizzly day and make sure to fix some hot tea before we set off :)

Once again, here I am in the countryside, the place you've seen so much in my previous videos. This time it's wintertime, and this winter has been no joke - LOTS of snow and really cold weather (once it showed 36 C!) That's how we chill there and enjoy our time alone, in the quiet.
