The Road Trip: Montserrat video series shows Montserrat returning to some semblance of normality in the aftermath of the eruption of the Soufriere Hills volcano. The eruptions have subsided over the past several years but the volcano is still in an active state. Restrictions have been relaxed on access into some parts of the evacuated zone including the destroyed capital, Plymouth. Reconstruction in the northern 'safe zone' is an ongoing process.

Trip from Brades to Cudjoe Head
Montserrat's Northern end is quite green and lush. There are some beautiful back roads such as this with some great views as they wend through the thick vegetation of the mountainside. You would never dream that there was a volcano on the same island. This clip has a shot of a beautiful old church near the top of Cayalla Hill.

A video tour of the Caribbean island of Montserrat, now in the recovery phase following a series of devastating eruptions by the island's Soufriere Hills volcano. In the period since the volcano 'woke up' in 1995, the capital Plymouth has been destroyed and most of the southern half of the 39.5 sq mile island has been rendered uninhabitable. From a population of approximately 10,000, roughly 50% have fled Montserrat. However, volcanic activity has subsided in the past few years and efforts are being made to restore normality.
