Rarotonga, Cook Islands
Rarotonga, the capital of our friendly little corner of the Pacific, is a very small island at only 32 kms around the outer perimeter. It takes approximately 40 minutes to drive around the island by car or motor scooter, which means all services and amenities on the island are just 20 minutes from wherever you are.
There are only 16,000 of us living in the Cook Islands. 10,000 live on Rarotonga with the rest living on 12 of our 15 islands. We are Polynesian, naturally friendly and openly welcome visitors to our shores like we have been doing for the past millennium or two. Everyone speaks English as well as the native Polynesian language.
Rarotonga is the transport hub of the Cook Islands with frequent connections from New Zealand, Australia, Tahiti, North America (via Los Angeles) and South America (via Tahiti or Auckland).

Atiu, Cook Islands
Take a step off the beaten track to the remote island of Atiu in the Cook Islands. Atiu is natures special island home to the unique cave dwelling Kopeka, colourful Kuhl's lorikeet, spectacular lime stone caves, rainforest and locally grown coffee. Atiu is famous for its Tumunu tradition, the consumption of a locally made alcoholic beverage that visitors are welcome to participate in.

For our time in the Cook Islands we stayed at the stunning Palm Grove. They offer a range of accommodation options from their studio and one bedroom garden bungalows to their romantic beachfront bungalows. If you are traveling with the whole family or a group then you can also stay in the 2 and 3 bedroom garden houses. Or for extra luxury you can also stay in their 3 bedroom beachfront villa with a full size kitchen, large living area and private upstairs loft style ensuited bedroom.

Penrhyn, Cook Islands
Penrhyn, also known as Tongareva is the largest and northernmost atoll of the Cook Islands. Penrhyn's lagoon, 275 square kilometres in area, dwarfs its surrounding motu, which total only six square kilometres. Its isolation, lack of resources and infrastructure, and declining population of around 200, make it a very difficult and expensive place to visit. However, on the other hand being so isolated and having a small population has allowed nature to thrive giving locals the option to be totally subsistent as the land provides more than enough food to go around. This video of Penrhyn gives a little insight into what this beautifully wild island has to offer.

We stayed in a Beach Hut at Rarotonga Backpackers , just 30 metres away from the sea, where we saw a lot of beautiful sunsets.
We did a trade with him, we stayed 9 days for free and in exchange we did this video for him.
