WHAT TO PACK FOR LONG TERM TRAVEL (carry-on only) | Regrets + Free Packing List

In this video we show you what to pack for long-term travel and include a packing list for travel in 2024! There are lots of packing videos out there, so why should you watch this one? Well, we left for full-time travel in March 2021 with only carry-on bags, and we have learned so much about packing in our first year of full-time travel. We have jam packed this video with as many useful tips and words of wisdom to help you prepare for your trip, whether it be a two week city-hopping-holiday or a one-way-trip-with-no-end-date kind of adventure!

We broke this video into three sections to make it easy for you to watch/listen to the part(s) that are most relevant to you. Part 1 covers what we pack, part 2 talks about our biggest packing lessons learned, and part 3 is how we pack for long term travel!

In the video you will learn that as we begin our second year of full-time travel we have purchased bigger backpacks that are no longer carry-on size! We explain why we are making this change in the video and hope it helps you decide if carry-on or check-in luggage is the right decision for you.

If you are packing for a backpacking trip around South America, or leaving to start your journey as a digital nomad, we think you will find lots of good information here! For example, we have developed some strong feelings about merino wool since leaving to travel full-time and we hope our real-life experience helps you make better decisions about clothing than we did when we started ????

Packing Cubes: What I learned after living out of them for 1.5 years carry-on luggage only

Minimalist packing, traveling with a carry-on luggage only and living out of my travel backpack for the last 1.5 years has taught me a lot about packing and organization. One of the most important lessons I learned is that packing cubes can help to make packing and organizing items much easier when traveling.
But they are not always necessary.
Packing cubes are a great way to store and organize clothes and other items in luggage, but all of them have different use-cases.
In this video, I’ll be discussing the most asked questions about packing cubes:
* Do you need them?
* Do you need packing cubes with compression?
* I will also talk about the differences between folding, rolling, and the Konmari packing method (my favorite method as a minimalist traveler).
* I will also share three packing tips.
So, if you’re looking to organize your travel gear and make packing easier while you travel, then watch the video to learn more about packing cubes. :)

Reasons a DUDE RANCH should be your next family VACATION!

Doodle the Travel Bug gives you our top 10 reasons why you should book a Dude Ranch Vacation. We come to you from the Dixie Dude Ranch, outside of Bandera, Texas, in the beautiful Texas Hill Country.

Top ten reasons a Dude Ranch should be your next family vacation-

10. All-inclusive! A Dude Ranch is a stress free all-inclusive vacation. Dude Ranches usually include all meals, lodging, horseback ridding, and entertainment. Entertainment at the Dixie Dude ranch was campfire sing-a-longs, hay rides, and trick ropers.

9. Unplug! A Dude ranch is the perfect place to detox from technology. Dude ranches have little to no internet and most accommodations do not include a T.V.

8. Variety of Activities! There are many activities at a dude ranch, things like hiking, volleyball, yoga, horseshoes, fishing, archery, and swimming.

7. Make new friends! Dude ranches are warm and welcoming places that draw guests from all over the world. These unpretentious vacations give guests a shared sense of adventure and they can't wait to discuss the days activities when the dinner bell rings and we all sit around communal tables.

6. Horseback Riding- Horseback riding is a major draw to a Dude Ranch. There is no better way to explore your ranches vast landscape than on the back of your trusty steed.

5. Healthy Vacation. A dude ranch is a healthy vacation. It's a stress free vacation loaded with star gazing and fresh air. Also, there hearty home cooked meals and healthy and active activities.

4. Animal Lover Trip. Dude Ranches are usually working ranches with more than just horses on property. There are usually lots of farm animals and lots of local wildlife.

3. The Food. The food is incredible. After a long day on the trails there is no better sound than the sound of the dinner bell. Ranches are known for their hearty home cooked food served family style.

2. Customizable. A dude ranch is completely customizable. You can live out your cowboy fantasies or just relax and take in your surroundings.

1.Family Time. Dude ranches are designed to make your days full of good ole fashion family fun. Because the entire reason we go on vacation is to create memories with the people we love the most.

I hope this answers, why a dude ranch and you enjoyed our top 10 reasons to go to a Dude Ranch!

Learn more about Pack Hacker Pro:

If you've never traveled with just a carry-on, we highly recommend it. Why? Because it’s freeing. There’s no need to wait at the airport to get your checked luggage. You can breeze through security quickly. And you have everything you need on you at all times.

In most cases, a smaller carry-on-sized bag forces you to be mindful of what you bring, which means you won’t have to haul around bulky luggage or excess gear. Even if you jam your bag full, it’s still a relatively compact package.

This week I'm in Spain! I have been volunteering on a farm in a little town called Letur in Castilla-La-Mancha. I got the job through Worldpackers and in exchange for my volunteer work, I get free food and accommodation. I chose this job because I'd never done anything like it before and I also thought it would be a great opportunity to practice my Spanish.
