Avenida Rio Branco, formerly Avenida Central, is the avenue that crosses downtown Rio de Janeiro.
It is one of the main public roads in the city, hosting many important events.
In 2016, a 600-meter stretch of the avenue was definitively closed to vehicle traffic, with Boulevard Luiz Severiano Ribeiro being built on the site. The promenade has 35 trees, 1,620 m² in green beds, bike racks, 70 benches and renewed lighting.

Rio de Janeiro Brasil no centro | 4K Walk
Partiremos do Museu do Amanha, caminhando pela avenida Rio Branco até a Escadaria Selarón.
O centro apesar de possuir edifícios residenciais, o bairro é predominantemente comercial e turístico. Abriga a maior concentração de edifícios financeiros e de escritórios da cidade. Possui desde prédios históricos até modernos arranha-céus.
A Avenida Rio Branco, antiga Avenida Central, é o logradouro que cruza o centro da cidade do Rio de Janeiro, sendo a principal marca da reforma urbana realizada pelo prefeito Pereira Passos no início do século XX.
É uma das principais vias públicas da cidade, sendo palco de muitos acontecimentos importantes.
Em 2016, um trecho de 600 metros da avenida foi fechado definitivamente ao trânsito de veículos, sendo feito no local o Boulevard Luiz Severiano Ribeiro. O passeio conta com 35 árvores, 1.620 m² em canteiros verdes, bicicletários, 70 bancos e iluminação renovada.
