Dunas Maspalomas in Gran Canaria
The Maspalomas Dunes (Spanish: Dunas de Maspalomas) are sand dunes located on the south coast of the island of Gran Canaria, Province of Las Palmas, in the Canary Islands. A 404-hectare (1,000-acre) area of the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, they have been protected as a nature reserve since 1987. They were one of the contenders in the 12 Treasures of Spain competition.
They were formed by sand from the bottom of the ocean, during the last ice age, when the wind blew the sand towards the coast of the island.
Hot sand in places and it burns so watch out - that's mainly near the dunes - basically big mounds of sand to climb up . Not exactly the desert but similar . Lots of nudists walking around on the beach . What can I say ? You won't miss them . Lots of shops and restaurants around . Buses available . Good day out.

Dunas de Maspalomas - a nature reserve on the island of Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands.
The area of picturesque dunes was created on a vast sedimentary terrace at the mouth of the Fataga, Ayagaures and Chamoriscán gorges. It is a habitat of unique fauna and flora. Peculiar invertebrates, including those typical of Africa, are associated with the dune area. Many species of birds live in the wetlands of the lagoon called la Charca de Maspalomas. Especially in the past, this place was an important refuge for birds and was an oasis of lush vegetation, but today it is heavily degraded.

Firstly, it is a nature reserve of unique beauty and size. Covering an area of approximately 2 square kilometers, one finds dunes and salt lake that are located directly on the Mediterranean sea. One can observe nature and wildlife, while hiking an hour. Either directly by the sea, through the dunes with few bushes and trees.
Secondly it is large outdoor cruising area for gay and straight tourists from all over Europe. Most of the area is a nudist area.
Tingaki Beach is the most famous nature beach in Kos island and one of the most beautiful naturist beach in Greece, which is within walking distance of the popular resorts of Tingaki and Marmari and just a short car drive from Kos Town. or 30-50 min bike ride from Kos Town.
A long 2 km stretch of beach between Tigaki and Marmari near the salt lake Igroviotopos Alikis.
In the middle of the beach is also a nudist Gay beach for local Greeks and vacationers with walking area with sand dunes and some trees. Nature beach with long stretch of soft sand backed in places by sand-dunes. The beach is frequented by different gay, bisexual and straight couples and single men.
