Documented my Kennon Road trip to Baguio. It was a nice sunny morning and the sights of the mountain ranges are beautiful! One of the famous zig zag roads in the Philippines, Kennon Road. Used one my favorite video games music, Outrun.
This time have to be behave since we got some senior citizen passengers with me hehehehe.
Road Condition - paved roads
Drive thrill - Average Fun, there are many cars along the road. Narrow curves.
Security - there are many houses and small towns along the road, caution on falling small debris

Kennon Road (formerly, the Benguet Road[1]) is a roadway in Benguet province in the Philippines connecting the mountain city of Baguio to the lowland town of Rosario in La Union province. The project was begun in 1903 and opened for travel on January 29, 1905. It was originally called the Benguet Road and later renamed in honor of its builder, Col. Lyman Walter Vere Kennon of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. For travelers coming from Manila or the provinces in the central plains of Luzon, it is the shortest route to Baguio.

This is sort of a different joyride since this was a documentation of my trip to Baguio with senior citizens hehehe.
Welcome to Baguio City, considered as the summer capital of the Philippines for the cold climate. Baguio is also one of the famous December destinations of most people in the island of Luzon.

Also known as Aspiras Palispis Highway but famously known as Marcos Highway. This time we traverse Marcos Highway going back to La Union towards Manila. The safer choice of the three routes we featured, for inexperience drivers Marcos Highway is a beginners route for you. The only problem encountered here are the trucks as tis route is more of a truck route. Got confused on the intersection of Manila and Agoo area.

Pinoy Joyride - Naguilian Road Joyride (Bauang to Baguio) 2014
From Bauang La Union going up to Baguio via the Naguilian Road. The road is not well maintained, there are some parts that has poor road conditions and a bridge that needs repair. Naguilian Road is one the roads that connects to Baguio City. Also, it was said to be one of the oldest, more older than Kennon Road. This route is also one of the most traversed roads if you are coming from La Union Area / Ilocos.
Our trip ends at Dominican Hill as my passengers are going to the Grotto. There was a fog near Tuba area. Fantastic! Fog's always give me that special feeling

One of my other dream rides come true! MARILAQUE highway or Marikina/Manila Rizal Laguna Quezon Highway Joyride or you can call it as Marcos Highway Joyride. Exploring the Mailaque from Antipolo to Infanta Quezon passing the beautiful Sierra Madre Mountains! Having a stop at Jariel's Peak for a morning snack then proceeding to the foggy roads of Real Quezon towards Infanta. The weather was unpredictable and it was having a slight drizzle with strong winds. There are visible traces of recent minor landslides. To unwind yourself and feel far from the busy metropolis this road is highly recommended. You can have an experience of Baguio weather along Real Quezon area. Happy New Year!

Pinoy Joyride - Circumferential Road 6 Joyride 2018 version
After three years i have returned to Circumferential road 6 to check back the developments. Since there were many press release regarding the opening of the new portions, i was curious to see. There were new bike lanes beside the Laguna lake, and the old jogging path is now transformed to a carriageway. From a 1x1 road it is now a 2x2 but most portions of the new road is still closed. This is a very promising alternative road as EDSA and C-5 is already congested. Unfortunately even with the widened Barkadahan Bridge, the traffic and bottleneck is still there, due to the intersection and stoplight just after the bridge is probably the culprit, DPWH should have extended the bridge after the intersection but visibly you could see the ROW issues. Pinoy Joyride - Aparri / Cagayan Valley Road Joyride
We travel from Ah26 Lal-lo towards Aparri via the Cagayan Valley road up to the very end of this stretch. Aparri is a busy municipality and just beside the South China Sea. The end of this video is until the DPWH marker END of CVR and the port where you can see the strong waves. Finally i have seen Aparri. This was a part of my northern luzon end of the year drive.

Pinoy Joyride - Metro Manila Skyway 2014 Southbound Joyride 1.2
(v2) This video covers stage 1 and stage 2 of the Metro Manila Skyway going to Alabang Muntinlupa. This image of Skyway will soon change as the Stage 3 is already commencing development. Soon NLEX and SLEX will be connected via the Metro Manila Skyway and definitely the toll rate will increase from 164 Philippine pesos to maybe around 400 pesos?

The Metro Manila Skyway is a fully grade separated elevated highway and motorway serving as the main expressway in the southern parts of Metro Manila, crossing over much of the existing South Luzon Expressway. It is located within the Metro Manila portion of the SLEX (South Luzon Expressway) from Gil Puyat Avenue(C-3 Road) to the Alabang-Zapote Road (AH-26) and crosses through the highly urbanized areas of Makati, Pasay, Parañaque, and Muntinlupa, relieving the South Luzon Expressway from heavy traffic.

Kennon road is the shortest way to Baguio after TPLEX Pozurrubio Exit. It takes about 45 minutes or more depending on driving style to take there.

driving and enjoy. Its not the the speed..
Baguio is a popular summer destination due to unusually cooler weather. At its center is Burnham Park, with gardens and a lake. The
main thoroughfare is Session Road, lined with shops, restaurants and entertainment options.
Baguio City is also known for slightly used imported original apparels known as wagwag where you can buy them in less than a hundred.
To enjoy travelling Baguio, avoid long weekend or holidays where most out of office peeps drive and relax downside to traffic jams
in every corner.
Budget foods are also available everywhere like Jacks Restaurant to mention.
Parking is bit tight so avoid getting ticket or clamped, no parking sign is everywhere.

Driving down from Baguio via the infamous Kennon Road. This is passable by light vehicles only. It is temporary open for vehicles going up to Baguio every Friday 5am to Sun 5am; going down to Manila every Sunday 5am onwards to help ease traffic due to influx of tourist.

This is part 2 of our Zambales to Pangasinan Joyride series. After reaching the Castillejos welcome arch, we have encountered slow down and traffic. We saw the public market and Ramon Magsaysay's ancestral house. My companion was sleeping soundly while the other one was enjoying the sights of the busy national highway. It has been a long time since we experience the old scenarios of provincial roads, after SCTEX was opened to traffic, these provincial / national highways were just an option now. As they say, passing the national highway is still the best thing to do if you wanted to experience the traditional feel of travelling.

Pinoy Joyride - Santiago Tuguegarao Rd / Quezon to Santa Maria 2014
This was one of my memorable joyride in the Northern Joyride series. Due to trying to achieve Fuel economy and miscalculation of route, did not notice fuel tank was already empty and using the reserve fuel.. Only realized that it was empty halfway and since this segment of Santiago Tuguegarao road was mostly farmlands and fields, no fuel station located. At the end of the video there was a fuel station but not sure if it has good quality fuel.
