Our friends at Walt Disney Imagineering just shared the first in a series of videos with us in which Portfolio Creative Executive Joe Rohde (who played a major part in the original development for Disney’s Animal Kingdom in the 1990s) explains the overall design philosophy of Pandora – The World of Avatar and how that fits into the theming of the rest of the park.

‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ Cast Returns to Pandora – The World of Avatar | Disney’s Animal Kingdom
It’s almost time to dive back into the world of Pandora when “Avatar: The Way of Water” debuts in theaters nationwide on Dec. 16. Ahead of this much-anticipated sequel to the original blockbuster film, young actors from the movie recently made a return visit to Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
When Jamie Flatters, Trinity Bliss, Jack Champion and Bailey Bass first stepped foot in this mythical world back in 2017, they had just been cast in the sequels. Exploring the wonders of Pandora – The World of Avatar was the perfect way to get immersed in the sights, sounds and experiences inspired by the movie.

Pandora The World of Avatar at Disney's Animal Kingdom Tour | Walt Disney World
Take a detailed tour around Pandora: The World of Avatar at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Located at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, FL (just outside of Orlando).
This new land at Disney's Animal Kingdom will officially open on May 27th, 2017. This was filmed during the preview for annual passholders. The new land features 2 new rides, Na'vi River Journey and Avatar Flight of Passage. Filming wasn't allowed on Flight of Passage but you'll see some of the pre-show in this video and highlights from Na'vi River Journey.
