Predator 3500 Inverter Generator | Spark Plug, Air Filter Change and Canister Delete

In this episode we do some maintenance on the good ole Harbor Freight Generator. Spark Plug, Air filter and the charcoal canister delete. The verdict is still out on if the delete actually improves the efficiency and run time.

I am puzzled about the little tube that looks to supply all the air intake for this machine.

Some other upgrades/maintenance are coming soon, including an oil change, 30amp plug switch-a-round -- ( I should trademark that) and few simple improvements you can make in order to

Make YOUR generator great again!

Our Inception:
We downsized from a three bedroom house in November 2017 to a 2000 Fleetwood Southwind Class A. We dubbed her Southwind Sally. We did some minor renovations with paint and adding new window treatments. In December 2018 we purchased our fifth wheel. It is a 2014 Forest River Columbus 320 RS by Palomino. In February 2020 we hit the road before the COVID-19 Pandemic lockdowns started.

Those lockdowns forced us to hold up at the Tinker, AFB FamCamp in Oklahoma until May. We hit the road again traveling to Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana (where we had floor work done on the Columbus), Ohio and Michigan. We decided we were going to try and make it to Colorado to see the sights, and made our way there. This is when we decided to create our channel.

We have been watching our favorite YouTube channels for years and decided maybe we should start to capture our own adventures. That decision produced our channel Compass Roadz and our first video.

Predator 3500 Generator Routine Maintenance

In this video I show you how I perform routine maintenance on my Predator 3500 inverter generator. As a solo female traveler you have to know how to do these kinds of chores on your own. This video is to help empower single female RV travelers that they can do what is necessary to maintain their home and equipment

Description

I am a single female traveling full time with my 2 Yorkies Dee Dee and Ziggy. I have a 2012 Airstream Flying Cloud 20c. She is small but the perfect home on wheels for me. Since there is no place like home that’s how she got her name, Dorothy. It follows naturally to name my channel Following the Yellow Brick Road.

It is my goal to empower women to see that it is possible to travel solo and do whatever is necessary to maintain this lifestyle as long as they are healthy enough to do it alone. Come along with us on our travels and I hope to see you down the road.

Predator 3500 Inverter Generator Repair

I this video I am in need of my Predator 3500 Inverter Generator repair. When you are used to following a certain routine and then break your routine, bad things can happen. I was in the habit of using my generator, turning it off and sliding it back in the bed of the truck and shutting the tail gait. The one time I broke my habit and left the generator out a bad thing happened! I left it out because I planned to use it again in the evening and originally had no plans to leave the campsite. I ended up needing to go to town to purchase some groceries. I took off in my truck while my generator was sitting on the tail gait. My power cord was still attached but the generator was not running. As I pulled away in the truck, the generator eventually fell to the ground. It cracked the outside housing and broke off the wire to the battery. Mr. Childers was able to repair that and the generator continued tto run, just like a Timex!

Predator 3500 Generator Vented Oil Fill Door

The standard Predator 3500 Inverter Generator comes with an oil fill door that many say restricts the incoming air flow to the Air Filter/ Carburetor so I figured I needed a Vented Oil Filler Door for my new Predator 3500 Inverter Generator so I 3 D printed one!

AFFILIATE LINK DISCLOSURE: Friends, making a quality Loloho video is kind of like making sausage – only slightly more violent. It's a ridiculous amount of work that typically involves high dollar camera drops, blue-screen-of-death computer crashes, and at least one angry shotgun wielding old man shouting, “Hey! Get the hell outta here!” Once the final video is posted, rewards here on YouTube are few and far between (unless you are a masochist who enjoys being verbally abused by anonymous trolls). One saving grace is our affiliate links. JUST CLICKING THESE LINKS HELPS TO SUPPORT OUR LITTLE SHOW. Think of this clicking as like tipping - except that it doesn't cost you anything extra! If you eventually make a purchase via one of our affiliate links, we will receive a few pennies (and Sean typically invests these pennies in duct tape and video gear). Again, it doesn't cost you anything to click these links, and it's a great help to us. As always, safe travels, happy camping, and THANK YOU!

Harbor Freight Predator 3500 watt generator Noise Test running the RV Air Conditioner?

In this video, we test both the Harbor Freight Predator 3500 watt generator and the Generac ix2000 generator for noise levels while running our Dometic 10,500 btu Cool Cat air conditioner in our 2018 NuCamp T@B 400. Unboxing/first start! Our newly purchased Predator 3500watt Inverter Generator!

We've heard some good things about this Generator, So I finally opened my wallet and purchased one! Is it really super quiet? How well does it handle The power load of an Rv a/c? Can it handle other appliances at the same time? We'll find the answers in this video, and go over my first impressions.

Harbor Freight 3500 propane conversion

A quick install video of the Nash propane gas conversion kit. By using this kit we are able to run propane without losing any of the benefits of the predator stock carburetor. This kit allows you to run a tri-fuel mixture, gas, propane and natural gas.

Hey Jeff, we are out of regulators, we sent our entire inventory of generator regs and parts to TX, also had a lot of my vendors drop ship theirs over that way.
Hoping to have more stock towards the end of the month. I have adapters back in stock, just cant get regulators

Running the generator at 50% load a 20lbs lasted 10 hours 45mins. What we are paying for propane from our local ACE hardware is 2.99. So our cost is about the same as gas. The reason we run propane is because its stable for long durations of time, no gumming of the carb and lower fumes.

Our First Skoolie Oil Change | Nightmare Mechanic Experience

We've really been put through the ringer with our skoolie mechanical issues ????

On our last day in Texas, our final stop on the way to New Mexico was at a diesel mechanic for a quick fuel pump replacement. We thought this would be simple, but unfortunately we hit a few bumps in the road.

First, we had a short which resulted in a blown starter fuse and a loss of power on the way to a mechanic. We were thankfully able to fix this ourselves after getting a little dirty under the bus and were back on our way! But that was just the beginning of our struggles...

What should have been a 2 hour fix turned into a 3 NIGHT stay in the service bay at a diesel mechanic shop. After returning with our new fuel pump (and a few new problems with our bus), we're attempting our first oil change on our bus.

Finally, we take the bus for a test drive to see if we're in the clear to continue traveling west. Knock on wood, it looks like we are okay to keep going! Our bus has better days ahead!

Thank you for supporting us through this as we share our experience. We have a lot to be grateful for, but it's important for us to be transparent with you and share both the good and the bad. We promise to be back to our more upbeat and fun videos next week! ❤️
