Video Summary:
This is a 6 day solo Amazon Rainforest journey about discovery and survival. I am on the search for the perfect canal for packrafting and for a new tour itinerary. Along the way I have to overcome various obstacles such as dangerous animals like caimans and piranhas, overgrown waterways, swamps, razor grass and deep mud. I also have to avoid Peruvian goldminers which have expanded to take up most of the Mother of God River. They are claiming plots and are now threatening any intruders with shotguns and wearing masks. For these reasons I have to choose my route carefully as my life depends on it. I'm also on the search for unspoiled wildlife and find it! I encounter various species most which are specific to lower jungle elevations such as tapirs, caimans, black skimmers, roseate spoonbills, kites, caracaras, parrots, kingfishers, taricaya turtles, squirrel monkeys, hoatzins, wattled jacanas and flycatchers.
To the tune of Man vs Wild, Alone and Naked and Afraid this is a movie I made alone without the aid of a camera crew or production. I set up the shots by myself and film as I go. There is no script and no planning beforehand. The animals show themselves when they feel like it and I try to capture it.
In addition to looking for and finding the perfect canal I find a lost oxbow lake! Oxbow lakes are the jungle's hotspots for wildlife where concentrations of animals prefer to live. Oxbow lakes are formed when a section of river becomes isolated after finding a new route around a bend of the river.
This is an educational adventure and survival video showing you that the Amazon is not as dangerous as the movies portray. Animals are scared of other animals and very scared of humans. This video shows you that a solo trip can be done and how to do it when dealing with other people, possible situations when one can get hurt, how to hammock camp and how to handle any wild animals and what the threats are.
In the style of the Discovery Channel I created this video to be more like a TV show with music and voice over techniques. There is also some scientific information about the forest animal species, river and weather characteristics. It also shows a little bit about the psychology and mindset of a person on a solo trip and mental state after a few days of being alone.
If you're looking for a true adventure through seemingly dangerous territory then this movie is for you.
The video begins in the gold mining town of Boca Colorado and continues down the Mother of God River to Pacal, CICRA (Los Amigos Biological Station) to Huitoto to J's Lake and finally ends in another gold mining town called Laberinto.

The Pantanal is a vast tropical wetland located primarily in western Brazil, but it also extends into parts of Bolivia and Paraguay. It is the largest continuous freshwater wetland system in the world, covering an area of approximately 150,000 to 195,000 square kilometers (58,000 to 75,000 square miles) depending on the season. This incredible ecosystem is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site and is known for its exceptional biodiversity.
The Pantanal is characterized by its extensive floodplain, encompassing a mosaic of various habitats such as marshes, swamps, lagoons, and seasonally flooded grasslands. It is fed by numerous rivers, including the Cuiabá and Paraguay rivers, and experiences a distinct wet and dry season. During the rainy season (November to March), large portions of the Pantanal become submerged, forming a unique aquatic environment. In the dry season (April to October), the waters recede, and the land transforms into a lush savannah-like landscape.
One of the iconic features of the Pantanal is the Transpantaneira, a renowned dirt road that stretches for approximately 150 kilometers (93 miles) through the heart of the wetland. The Transpantaneira serves as the main access route for exploring the region and provides visitors with an extraordinary opportunity to observe the Pantanal's rich wildlife.
As you drive along the Transpantaneira, you'll encounter breathtaking scenery and encounter diverse animal species. The road is flanked by vast stretches of grasslands, dense forests, and numerous oxbow lakes. It is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers, offering unparalleled chances to spot and photograph iconic Pantanal wildlife, including jaguars, giant anteaters, capybaras, tapirs, marsh deer, and a vast array of bird species.
The Transpantaneira is also dotted with several rustic lodges and guesthouses, providing accommodations for visitors who wish to explore the Pantanal at a more leisurely pace. Many of these establishments offer guided excursions, such as boat trips, horseback riding, and nature walks, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the Pantanal's natural wonders.
Aside from its remarkable fauna, the Pantanal is also home to a diverse range of flora, with over 3,500 plant species recorded. The wetland's vegetation includes flood-resistant grasses, aquatic plants, and gallery forests that line the riverbanks.
Overall, the Pantanal and the Transpantaneira offer an unparalleled opportunity to experience the incredible biodiversity and natural beauty of one of the world's most unique and pristine ecosystems. In the previous episode of the “Adventure Escape Diaries” ( we were looking for housing in Paraguay until we heard about our surprise win at a contest done by the #German #ExpatCoach #ChristophHeuermann and his Captain Josh form @SailStaatenlos.
We won a one-week-sailing trip on the Catamaran #SYStaatenlos in Rio de Janeiro and an expat counseling with Christoph.
This would all happen within a few weeks and now we had to make sure to speed up our #ResidencyProcess and get all our car documents for our #4x4 #Toyota #Prado.
But Paraguay is notoriously slow when it comes to administrative work.
Also also wanted to equip our car for an #overlanding trip through Brazil and maybe all of South America.
We finally found a house for a month in #SanBer, close to #Asuncion. But with just a few weeks left to go we felt extremely stressed, and then to top it all off, Paraguay decided to have another lockdown and closed its borders…. How to escape to Brazil now?

Epic Family Road Trip S6•EP5/// In this week’s episode of The Epic Family Road Trip, we continue on our jeep overland expedition north, as we attempt to make it to the Yukon. After our windshield on our Jeep ‘Worsley’ was severely damaged from a bird strike which happened in last week’s episode (Season 6 - Episode 4), we got it repaired in Prince George, British Columbia then headed further north where we camped at some epic spots along the way. This week, we carry on from Ningunsaw Provincial Park up the Stewart-Cassiar Highway where we stop for a night to camp on the shore of the beautiful ‘Dease Lake’ before exploring Telegraph Creek Road into Mount Edziza Provincial Park. In Mt. Edziza PP, we camped on the edge of a huge canyon wall which dropped down to a powerful river below!

One NVR recorder:
The reason to get 8 channel is if you want to have more than four cameras, either now or in the future. If you know you want just 4 channels you can save by ordering a four channel NVR.
When we ordered the recorder, we added 2 Terabyte memory which they installed. We see that we have about two weeks of data by leaving four cameras on all the time. Therefore we think you'll be fine by adding just 1 Terabyte memory at time of order.
