Of course you can start visiting the main villages on the shore of the lake: Limone, Riva, Torbole and Malcesine. Close to lake Garda there are other three truly fascinating smaller lakes: Ledro, Tenno and Toblino, and a panoramic Castle in Arco. Close to Malcesine, I suggest you also visit Monte Baldo and Madonna della Corona sanctuary.

Limone sul Garda is charming and if you are spending a few days at Lake Garda a visit here should be among your priorities.
The historic centre is a labyrinth of narrow paths and stairs.
From the center of Limone you can ride a few kilometers of the scenic Garda cycle path, a path suspended over the lake, that will become the longest cycle path in Europe in 2026!
Valle di Ledro path runs through the entire Ledro valley to Lake Ampola.
It is recommended this path for those who want to discover the beauties of the higher altitude area around the lake.
You can have a nice breakfast in Rifugio al Faggio, at the end of Val Concei.
From Torbole you can reach Toblino lake!
The path Valle dei Laghi allows you to start from Riva del Garda area – down there you can see Garda lake, to reach the splendid lake of Toblino, along the Sarca river.
With a small deviation you can reach the center of Arco, where on Wednesday the is the local market, and also the castle of Arco.

Welcome to Malcesine, Lake Garda, Italy. A beautiful little village on the shore of Garda lake, in the province of Verona, Veneto region, Italy.
It's a very popular and picturesque tourist resort with narrow cobbled streets and a beautiful castle, crammed between the blue, crustal clear lake waters and the imposing mountain ridge behind called Monte Baldo, that watches over the town.
Also called the olive grove shore” thanks to the myriad of olives that can be seen everywhere in that region, Malcesine is a true gem of Lago di Garda. A must-visit when you travel to Italy since it's the perfect location for a good Italy road trip and for those seeking a more local experience on Lake Garda.
In our walking tour of Malcesine we visit the old town and walk through the cobbled lanes, full of shops and restaurants, and just take in and enjoy the ambiance and the peaceful vibes of this Italian town. We visit the new port as well as the old port. We check out the most beautiful squares where you can have a nice lunch or dinner. We can't miss paying a visit to the historic castle, called Castello Scaligero, where we can see some amazing views of the lake Garda and the whole town of Malcesine, and its surroundings. This is also where we end our city tour.

Our tour of Lake Garda by car
A lap of Lake Garda by car, touching three regions, Lombardy, Trentino & Veneto. Starting at Limone-sul-Garda taking a clockwise route to ensure you maximise your lakeside view as we head up to Riva del Garda.
After crossing through Trentino, we start heading south, into the Veneto region and take a quick look at Malcesine. The route continues until we reach Peschiera del Garda where we have a short look around before continuing our tour around Lake Garda and onto Salò. Again we take a brief look at the lakeside town, and why you may want to visit.
The journey now continues north, past the Lemon Houses with a short detour to Montecastello to take in the views over Lake Garda. We then complete our journey back to Limone-Sul-Garda.

Malcesine is a small town on the eastern shore of Lake Garda in northern Italy. It's a picturesque tourist resort with cobbled lanes and a castle, crammed between the blue lake waters and the massive mountain ridge behind, Monte Baldo. In the summer months Malcesine is a hive of innocent hedonism, packed with pottering holidaymakers gorging on ice cream and sunseekers draped along the lake shore. It's not all laziness, however, as the town's ferry connections to other lakeside resorts make it a good base for sightseeing and the cable-car running up to Monte Baldo is a magnet for cyclists, walkers and paragliders.
Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy, and Malcesine lies towards the narrow and mountainous northern end, often compared to a fiord. The town is situated at the edge of the Veneto region, in the province of Verona. The town is built into a hilltop and is a compact, colorful, delight to stroll through, with narrow alleys, excellent shopping, cafes and restaurants.
Malcesine is most famous for its medieval castle and fortified walls, as well as its cable car to the top of Monte Baldo - which sits high above Malcesine. It's also known for its many water sports and hiking opportunities.

Lake Garda (Lago di Garda) is a stunning travel destination in Northern Italy, and the largest lake in the country. With a shoreline that spans over 250 kilometers, Lake Garda offers so many things to do. The northern part of Lake Garda is surrounded by mountains, while the southern part has a milder climate and a more Mediterranean feel. Beyond merely being a beautiful location, Lake Garda provides guests with a variety of recreational opportunities. The lake's good winds make sailing, windsurfing, and kite surfing popular water activities. The region has some beautiful cities like Sirmione and Lazise, but also the best amusement park in Italy - Gardaland.

Lake Garda. Italy June 2023. Part 1- Malcesine
This is the first in a series of videos from our holiday to Lake Garda in Italy from 14th-28th June 2023.
Look out for further videos from our trip.
In this video we explore the town of Malcesine, which was our base for the two weeks.
Malcesine is located on the North East shore of Lake Garda.
We take a short walk beside Lake Garda before exploring the castle in Malcesine. The castle sits on the shore of the Lake and offers superb views in all directions. We climb to the top of the tower of the castle at 70m above the lake giving stunning views.
We then explore the streets of Malcesine which are lined with shops, restaurants, cafes & bars before heading to the picturesque harbour of Malcesine. A town with a lot of character and a stunning backdrop of the Monte Baldo Moutain range.
Further videos include hikes in the mountains above Lake Garda, a trip to the Dolomites as well as visiting the towns of Limone & Garda.
