After a rough few days in Sierra Leone, we have made it onwards to the next West African country of Guinea (Conakry).

It's been a wild 2.5 days here so far, from the challenging roads to the (once again) disgusting corruption and bribery that we had to deal with. But we made it, after 11 LONG hours of driving 150 miles, to the capital of Conakry.

Initially, we had a great time exploring the fish market at sunrise and then getting secret access inside the 2nd biggest mosque in sub Saharan Africa -- but then things quickly turned bad when thousands of policemen (armed with AK47s, helmets and bullet proof vests) stormed the streets in preparation for the riots which have been destroying the city.

We quickly ran (literally) back to our hotel and called it a day. We didn't leave the hotel anytime afterwards.

This region of the world is tough to travel across, especially in your own vehicle. At each of the dozens and dozens of police checkpoints, we are always pulled over to show our car papers/insurance, and even after we do correctly, the corrupt police will find ANY reason to pick on us (often times, making up some random law) until we pay them off. It makes me sad.

BUT I HAVE SOME GOOD NEWS (in case you missed yesterday's video)! THE SIERRA LEONE GOVERNMENT SAW MY VIDEO ABOUT US GETTING SCAMMED AND THEY WENT TO THE BORDER TO ARREST THE 3 GUYS AND NOW THEY ARE IN PRISON! One step closer to making this region a safer place to visit for everyone.

GUINEA CONAKRY: A ride through the country to it's capital // EPS 9

A ride through Guinea to it's capital Conakry - with offroad excursions, friendly locals and some adventurous transports!

Saying goodbye to places you fell in love with is the worst part of traveling. But every day offers aw well a new beginning, a new journey, a new adventure. Follow me from the grasslands of Fouta Djallon to Guineas capital Conakry and the border of Sierra Leone.

When we left Labé and the Fouta Djallon region we realized, that even finding an ATM can be quite an adventure in Guinea. After we were able to pay our petrol again we hit some small roads, met friendly locals and went on a night ride to Guinea's capital Conakry to apply for another visa.

//NOTE: videos were recorded before I had a Youtube Channel - initially used for my Instagram stories. That's the reason for the close ups of my face - they were recorded vertically. I still decided to use them - that's the authentic footage I have and I can't change that anymore. Remember: I just started out with filming and cutting - its a learning curve and far from perfect! If you mind seeing my nose hair every now and then, I can highly recommend you to skip this part of the journey and join again when I will publish my next trips after the country Benin with hopefully improved footage!

// Welcome to the journey! I am Lea, a journalist and author and I want to take you with me on a motorcycle overloading adventure to all the wild and beautiful places in the world!

S2 EP-4 Travel Guinea Conakry is trouble in protests time also no safe. Is true?

We have made it onwards to the next West African country of Guinea (Conakry) by motorcycle. When we were entering Guinea just started some protests, especially in capital city. We had a big question in our mind: Travel Guinea Conakry can trouble in protests time, also ride motorcycle is safe or not?

Two days we were off road because of border crossing Guinea Bissau to Guinea without border ☺

When we are closed to Conakry, which is capital city of Guinea. They told us road is close because of protests and some people dead. We decided that It could not safe us try to ride inside city when everything getting crazy.

So, we had changed the road and we didn't know that we were going to learn more about Guinean culture also Guinea people when jumped to the villages. Guinean culture is close to Guinea Bissau culture and we are not surprise for that because they are neighbor. At the same time people behavior is smilier.

We wanted show our Guinea travel, adventure and motorcycle journey in the short video. Hope you like it. We are waiting your comment.

We couldn't use our camera in many places because we didn't sure about their behavior also for security. Therefore our footage quality isn't great, sorry for it.

GUINEA CONAKRY: Crashs in the FOUTA DJALLON region & Kambadaga waterfalls // EPS. 8

Crashs, waterfalls, and challenging roads: Welcome to the Fouta Djallon region in Guinea - one of my favorite places on this trip so far!

Each country I ever visited I fell in love with – even if it was only for a short minute. But Guinea-Conakry made me fall in love each single second I stayed. Why? Because of its challenges. But also because of its breathtaking beauty, and its untouched nature.

After crossing the border of Guinea-Bissau to Guinea-Conakry at the border post Fulamory, there was already the first surprise waiting: a hand-pulled ferry that brought us over the river. Little did we know that the real challenges were still waiting: A very bad, sandy road - which ended up in two crashs.

The next days we headed torwards Labé, the capital of the region Fouta Djallon. The highlands of Fouta Djallon are often called the watertower - or in French: 'le chateau d'eau' , of West Africa. Sometimes people as well refer to the region as the 'Switzerland of West Africa'. We found out why on a excursion to Kambadaga waterfalls.
Join the journey in through the Fouta Djallon region of Guinea and find out, how it feels to ride in 40+ degrees, on sandy roads or when standing on a majestic waterfall!

Don’t believe the haters - Guinea-Conakry is incredible ???????? #shorts #africa #guinea #conakry

Guinea gets a bad rap, mostly due to the gritty capital of Conakry, where it isn’t just possible, but probable, that you’ll be hassled by police, placed in the back of a police car, interrogated for hours, and eventually released (yes, that all happened to me).
Despite its drawbacks, the city also has some amazing people and amazing sights, including the stunning Grand Mosque.

You may hear islamophobic comments like “they train ISIS and Al Qaeda there!” and “the threat of terrorism is real!” - but forget all the haters and GO! You’ll be welcomed with open arms, given a proper tour of the beautiful mosque (one of the largest in Africa) and truly see some of the best sights that Conakry has to offer.

Don’t simply dismiss the city as a write-off before you come here - it’s an incredible place of worship.

Rules seem non-existent here -Crazy traffic in Guinea Conakry : Travel Vlog day 27 in Africa

Day 27 started started quite early. Went to Ivory Coast Embassy in Guinea Bissau. Morning traffic was the busiest ever! Cars going One way only occupying all the lanes. It was something I have seen first time in my life.

At the Embassy first we Asked what documents are necessary for visas as well as the prices for them. One visa costs around 1,280,000 Guinea Francs (150euros!)
But there was nothing else to do, as there is only one visa issuing Embassy for Ivory Coast available in country.

We gathered all the documents, pictures, copies of booking and more. Paid the amount, waited for 3 hours and got visa already in our hands.

Came back home to pack and continue to go further, but by our surprise rain started to pour down. It postponed our rides start.. for half an hour we patiently waited until it stops.

It was terrible start for us as all streets were flooded, we heard people struggling with their cars being stuck in mud. City was quite chaotic, but we managed to get out of city jungle and get into real one.

Time started to go really fast as on the way it again started to rain. I couldn’t even film it without risking camera getting wet.

We arrived at our accommodation in pitch dark. Tired and dirty from all the muddy roads on the way. Only last mission. Wash and go to sleep...

Deadliest Journeys - Guinea: The Land Of The Forgotten

In a thrilling race on gruesome roads, desperate bush Taxi drivers scramble to deliver drugs and vaccines in less than 24 hours. At the other end of the trail sick people and children on borrowed time are waiting. But will they be able to afford the medicine that will save them? A surreal trip to Guinea Conakry, where there are still many serious diseases, such as polio, diphtheria and rabies. A country in full decay where the rutted roads tire the drivers nervously and where the delays they take paralyze the economy of the country ... Located in the west of Africa and in the south of Senegal, Guinea Conakry is nevertheless a country rich. Its subsoil is full of minerals like gold and diamonds, but people never see their color. The film reveals hallucinating realities: the hospital in a town of 200,000 inhabitants, Kissidougou, operates without electricity and the nurse on duty is content with the wreckage of an ambulance to go and save a pregnant woman in difficulty at 75 kilometers away. Poverty pushes families to put their children to work from the age of 6. In a roadside carpentry shop, no less than 102 children are found working and sleeping on the floor in what looks a lot like dormitories in a labor camp. According to Unicef, 25% of young Guineans take the road to work every morning rather than the often inaccessible school! In Guinea Conakry, the forest occupies more than a quarter of the surface of the country and beyond a national pierced with holes the inhabitants abandoned by the state had to create themselves bamboo ladders on cliffs to go from villages to villages. They borrow them at the risk of their lives ...

About Guinea: Conakry is the capital and largest city of Guinea. A port city, it serves as the economic, financial and cultural centre of Guinea. Its population as of the 2014 Guinea census was 1,660,973. The current population of Conakry is difficult to ascertain, although the U.S. Department of States Bureau of African Affairs has estimated it at 2 million, accounting for one sixth of the entire population of the country. // Guinea officially the Republic of Guinea (French: République de Guinée), is a west-coastal country in West Africa. Formerly known as French Guinea (French: Guinée française), the modern country is sometimes referred to as Guinea-Conakry to distinguish it from other countries with Guinea in the name and the eponymous region, such as Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea. Guinea has a population of 12.4 million and an area of 245,857 square kilometres (94,926 sq mi). The sovereign state of Guinea is a republic with a president who is directly elected by the people; this position is both head of state and head of government. The unicameral Guinean National Assembly is the legislative body of the country, and its members are also directly elected by the people. The judicial branch is led by the Guinea Supreme Court, the highest and final court of appeal in the country. Guinea is a predominantly Islamic country, with Muslims representing 85 percent of the population. Guineas people belong to twenty-four ethnic groups. French, the official language of Guinea, is the main language of communication in schools, in government administration, and the media, but more than twenty-four indigenous languages are also spoken.
