POLKA POKAZUJE AFRYKAŃSKI DOM - GAMBIA

Dzięki uprzejmości pracownika Eli, o imieniu Lamin. Mamy niebywałą możliwość zajrzeć do afrykańskiego domu w Gambii.

I Share My Husband with 2 Other Wives (Maasai Marriage Story)

→ Stephanie's life on Instagram:
→ Viral video about Stephanie on @GlobstoryPl's channel:

Yayai is part of the Maasai tribe, one of the largest and best-known African tribes. One of the Maasai traditions that continues to live to this day is the custom of polygamy (or, more specifically, polygyny). As someone with a European upbringing, I've always been taught that a successful relationship can only exist between two people... But that's not how everyone around the world lives and thrives.

I've decided to ask Yayai about what marriage is like in her Maasai culture, and she really opened my eyes to the fact that there is no single recipe for a good relationship (except, maybe, to respect your partner!). I'm hoping you've also come here with an open mind and without judgment - because even if you may not agree with someone's way of life, you should always find a way to respect it (if they're not doing anything to harm you).

I also know that there's a lot that I will never find out about, and of course many other socio-political issues at stake here. But it is not the purpose of this video to discuss them at length: this video is merely a small dip into the idea of polygamy in Maasai marriage, and that's the scope of it.

Gambia cruise around the world

THE GAMBIA, an African Odyssey (Variety Cruises) Few countries have the name of their river. Gambia, whose borders follow faithfully letracé the River Gambia, has a fully linked to the waterway history. Leaving Dakar each week along the Senegalese coast and enter the mouth of the Gambia River , Pegasus uses the historical route of European vessels that have significantly influenced this part of the world .

Top reasons to visit The Gambia, and not only ☀????

Why The Gambia?

And why not?

These are my favorite things to do in The Gambia!
Be amazed by these top places and experiences in The Gambia! iilluminaughtii

Think of long sandy beaches that are never overcrowded, a vibrant colorful culture, wonderful wildlife, and friendly English-speaking locals; there’s no end of reasons why you should consider a Gambia holiday.

The Gambia in West Africa is a fascinating place, and with no rain between November to the middle of June virtually guaranteed, and temperatures in the 30s, it is a fantastic winter sun destination. The coast has many lovely, long sandy beaches which are never over-crowded, even in the height of the season. And you’ll find it much cheaper than many other popular winter sun locations such as the Caribbean.

Are you visiting The Gambia for the first time? Here are some great things to do to ensure you get the most out of your holiday.

Take a bath in Sanyang Beach

There are many lovely sandy beaches in The Gambia, none of which ever get overcrowded and some with not another soul in sight. Sanyang, also known as Paradise Beach, is many people’s favorite....

Explore a Fishing Village

There are fish markets at Bakau, Tanji and Sanyang. These are colorful, vibrant places where you can watch the pirogues (fishing boats) come in and unload the day’s catch. ...

Don't miss a visit to Kunta Kinteh Island

Kunta Kinteh Island, formerly called James Island and St Andrew's Island, is an island in the Gambia River, 30 km from the Gambia River Barra. Fort James is located on the island. It is less than 3.2 km (2 miles) from Albreda on the river's northern bank.

Explore Banjul

A visit to The Gambia’s capital, Banjul, will add some history and culture to your African adventure.

Banjul is located on the island of Santa Maria, or Banjul Island, at the mouth of the Gambia River, which flows into the Atlantic Ocean. The metropolitan area has about 460,000 inhabitants

Visit the Royal Albert Market and Serekunda market

Wind your way around the labyrinth of alleyways lined with ramshackle stalls as you explore the Royal Albert Market in The Gambia.

The tourist market selling clothes, jewelry, arts and crafts, is much like any other of the many markets dotted around the coastal tourist areas, aimed specifically at visitors to The Gambia.

Spend some days at Jynack Island

Jinack Island (also spelled Jinak or Ginak) is in the North Bank Region of the Lower Niumi District of The Gambia, in West Africa.

Get into Abuko Nature Reserve and Tanji Bird Reserve

Abuko Nature Reserve and Tanji Bird Reserve are located in the Kombo South District in the West Coast Region in the southwest coastal area of The Gambia in West Africa.

A walk along the beach at sunset

The sunsets in The Gambia can be spectacular. Being so near the equator the sun goes down very quickly around 7 pm (give or take half an hour).

HOW TO COOK FISH YASSA | COOKING WITH IDA

#foodie #culinarytravels #fooddestinations #deliciousgambia
The Gambia is a great foodie destination.
Eating is one of the great joys of travel.
Anyone who loves to explore beyond just the sights and sounds of a country, food/culinary excursions are one of our favorite activities in new countries!
These unique tours will give you an insight into the local culture of the people and history of each region, at the end, leaving you with an experience you will carry for the rest of your life.
People are planning vacations around food and The Gambia is leading the way in West Africa. Today we are cooking our way through West Africa. Unbuckle your belts, sit tight and enjoy the real taste of The Gambia.

In one of my trips to the Gambia, I had the privilege of meeting an incredible woman; Ida Cham Njie, - She is a terrific cook who cook with serious love and passion.
Ida is like the face of tourism in the Gambia and runs a cooking excursion known, as Yabouy Home cooking. This motherly host opens her home and heart to tourists interested in having a real authentic Gambian experience by way of learning how to cook traditional Gambian food in a traditional way; shares her culture and its culinary traditions with them through her cooking class, while exchanging cultural values.

I was invited to participate in one her cooking classes at her home and it was a wonderful and a delicious experience for me. We cooked fish yassa…
Upon arriving, you are made to choose and change into a traditional Gambian dress.. (Made by her sister)
Followed by a Visit to tanji market where you'll find everything from fresh farm produce, to seafood;( just anything you want) to buy ingredients for your class. Though I couldn't make it to the market with her as I had an early morning engagement but Robin, (another participant) did and she told me it was quite an exciting experience.
I arrived just few minutes after they had returned from the market.
After I had change, we chopped, sliced, pounded and diced, played games, converse, got acquainted with Gambian flavors and fragrances, and used a traditional metal oven to prepare a meal better than we could have imagined possible and eat together from one plate with her family; very intimate.
It’s one thing to learn about the Gambian culinary culture on YouTube but it's another thing to experience it firsthand.
If you are planning a vacation to the Gambia, this experience is a must have. I highly recommend it and I guarantee it's going to be the best vacation activity you'll have on this tiny west African country.

Named after her mother, Yabouy (Mum) home cooking is like a cooking holiday that will take you to the heart and soul of the Gambian gastronomy and agriculture.
It’s worth every single cent.

Top 10 Must-Dos When Holidaying in The Gambia

Mainland Africa’s smallest country packs plenty in. Spellbinding sandy beaches are the Gambia’s most famous attribute, with Cape Point the most Instagram-worthy, but there’s much more to relish: bird, hippo and chimp-watching cruises in River Gambia National Park, leopard-patrolled wetlands and mysterious stone circles. Nevertheless, and despite some excellent beachfront hotels, winter sun packages to this West African country are absurdly cheap. With the shared GMT time zone, you needn’t even worry about jet lag. There are good package deals to the lively, luxurious Palm Beach Resort, including flights from Gatwick or Manchester.

Average prices Coffee £1, evening meal £7.50, beer £1
