#292 This is boat life and our little Lenny is not so little any more, we're having a special day for his second birthday. His addiction to wheels has us sailing to find a road, any road, to play with his new present, and the Canaries is kinda making that a bit difficult for us.
We've attached Captain Jack to the helm as we get on a boat to the lonely island of La Gomera. Join us as we get back to the boat and find out the plans for the big Atlantic crossing. We're changing it up with some late changes to the line-up so stay tuned for the big news.

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! New Zealand Sailing Adventure
Late November 2016 I decided to stop working and buy a sail boat to cruise the coast of New Zealand. The following 6 months were spent onboard throwing shaka's learning how to sail and living a sustainable life. Enjoy!
ONE WEEK to Prepare for 16 Days at Sea (Atlantic Crossing)
#291 Join us as we sail down from Madeira to Tenerife. Jack and Andre join us on board to prepare for the Atlantic crossing back to the warm weather, clear water and fish galore. We're excited but there's lots to do before the boys were ready to go. I (Elayna) was more than happy to sit this one out. Pregnant, seasickness, toddler, I'm sure you understand - haha!

Crazy to think how much has changed since then. Jack has gone from having never sailed to sailing obsessed. Having just introduced him to paragliding, I can foresee a new obsession on the horizon.

Ok but really, we are having a BLAST in the Bahamas, and we're getting our feet, hands, heads, torso's and everywhere else wet learning. Getting more comfortable reading squall lines. Conor and I were complete newbies to sailing, but we quit our jobs and started sailing Satori, our 1990 Whiting 40 keelboat, around the coast of New Zealand.
Six months into our journey, Conor was diagnosed with a massive 8cm meningioma brain tumor. For 8 months, we experienced challenge after challenge as an infection developed which killed Conor's skull, New Zealand went into lockdown which postponed Conor's surgery to replace the dead skull bone, and our boat got stuck in a marina several hours away for 5 months, causing half of our belongings to be destroyed by mold. Due to Conor now having a fake skull and being 6', the boat is now a massive hazard with not enough headroom, and we were forced to sell the boat.
We have no idea what is in store for us in 2022, but it's gotta be a better year than 2021. Thanks for following our journey!!!!
