Camino Northern Way Full Way San Sebastian to Santiago de Compostela | CaminoWays.com

Northern Way – Full Walk: The Northern Way or Camino del Norte is the Camino route that follows the Northern coast of ‘Green Spain’ from San Sebastián in the Basque Country, to Cantabria, Asturias and finally Ribadeo in Galicia. From Ribadeo, the Northern Way heads inland, taking pilgrims across the forests and farmland of rural Galicia on its way to Santiago de Compostela. In the third section, pilgrims also have the option to take an alternative route to the city of Oviedo, where the Northern Way connects with the Original Way and then continues to Santiago de Compostela.

This Camino starts in the chic seaside city of San Sebastián (Donosti in Basque), a real paradise for foodies: it is the city with the second highest number of Michelin stars in Europe. Following the coastline for most of the way, you will discover charming fishing villages, swim in beautiful sandy beaches and taste delicious fresh seafood. Feel inspired at the impressive Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao; stroll by the elegant royal palace by the sea in Santander; sample Asturias’s famous cider and step back in time in Mondoñedo, a former capital of the Kingdom of Galicia. If you have time, we recommend you take a trip to see Ribadeo’s impressive ‘Cathedrals Beach’.

Camino De Santiago

At 25 July is was St. James Day and we asked everybody to share their favorite camino pictures with us! We made this nice video with al lthe pictures. Thanks for sharing everybody!

Camino de Santiago and Finisterre – Documentary Film

This film documents the precise, minute detail journey of the people on the Camino de Santiago and the Camino de Finisterre in 2015 and their experience, whether spiritual or physical, across 1000 km of northern Spain. Although I am providing narratives or storytelling of events, thoughts, feelings and observations I simply represent all people walking el Camino.

A chief theme of a narrative is whether people walking el Camino are pilgrims or trekkers. Is a pilgrimage seeking something missing inside of ourselves?

The film also shows constant changes taking place in nature and within us while walking el Camino and enduring hardship through unknown physical challenges on the way.

THE NORTHEN ROUTE TO SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, EL CAMINO DEL NORTE IN ASTURIAS (ESPAÑA - SPAIN)

The Northern coastal Route to Santiago as it passes through Asturias, was used by the first European pilgrims as it followed along a pre-existing route carved out by the local inhabitants thousands of years before especially between the European Coastal communities of the Atlantic Arc. From the dawn of the Jacobean era and due to the Moorish conflicts throughout Spain, this was the safest way to Santiago as only the Cantabric Coastline was free of the domination and attacks by the Moors. Afterwards, between the 12th-13th centuries, the Coastal Route was consolidated as the most popular maritime and overland way to arrive at Santiago.

The Coastal Route in Asturias passes through 23 Councils: Ribadedeva, Llanes, Ribadesella, Caravia, Colunga, Villaviciosa, Gijón, Carreño, Corvera, Avilés, Castrillón, Soto del Barco, Pravia, Muros de Nalón, Cudillero, Valdes, Navia, Coaña, El Franco, Tapia de Casariego, Castropol, Vegadeo y San Tirso de Abres.

El Camino De Santiago

We walked el Camino de Santiago, the french way. Walked over eight hundred kilometers, taking thirty some days. Saw some things and ate some others. It was the trip of a lifetime.

Each day we walked about six hours to the next town we would stop in. Within the first week I started to get blisters on my toes and around my feet. But I did my best to not let it slow me down. I really enjoy the sense of wonder you get from taking in the landscapes and looking at local buildings.

I value trying to capture what I see to save for myself and share with others. Thanks for watching my video. Subscribe to the channel if you haven't already.
