We drove through most of Namibia, exploring all the famous highlights such as the Fishriver Canyon, Sossusvlei and Etosha Nationalpark. We were lucky enough to spot most of the big, and many small, animals which call Namibia home. These include elephants, giraffes, lions, rhinos, hippos, kudus, oryx, ostriches, warthogs, springboks, impalas and many more.

How long did you travel?
We traveled for 7 weeks through both Namibia and Botswana.
When did you travel?
We started at the end of August and flew back at the beginning of October.
How far did you drive?
Around 13000km through both Namibia and Botswana.
How much did the trip cost?
Around 6000-8000 Euro for two people for seven weeks in Namibia and Botswana. Flights (1200 Euro), Car Rental (2500 Euro), Fuel (ca. 1500-2000 Euro), Accommodation (ca. 1200 Euro), Food (no idea, maybe 800-1000 Euro), Border Crossing Permits (ca. 200 Euro), Park Entry Fees (ca. 200 Euro).

Filip Kulisev strives to find and photograph the most wonderful and unique sites of our planet for the benefit of all nature lovers in Slovakia and around the world. Through his photographs he has raised awareness of issues related to biodiversity and natural resources.Filip Kulisev, Master QEP, FBIPP has provided material for more than 200 individual exhibitions in Slovakia and around the world. In 2013, he was selected for the “International Masters of Photography“ project in Las Vegas which featured the top ranking photographers of the world. He is the only Slovak to receive such an honor. He has been awarded various international certifications, including the Master QEP title, which is the highest European award for professional photographers. Kulisev became the first photographer from Central and Eastern Europe to be awarded the highest qualification and title of Fellow from the British Institute of Professional Photographers in London. He was also selected as European Landscape Photographer of the Year in 2012. Kulisev is the author of ten exclusive monographs which present the beauty and uniqueness of our planet’s various natural wonders.Filip Kulisev’s work and publications are part of the collections of honorable personalities around the world, including Pope Francis, His Royal Highness Prince Charles, His Serene Highness Prince of Monaco Albert II, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Slovak President Andrej Kiska, UN secretary general António Guterres, Presidents of Uganda, French Polynesia, Kiribati and Palau, former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. We head for Namibia in this three part overlanding adventure and exploration series.
In episode 1, we travel from South Africa, into Botswana, and head all the way up North to enter the Caprivi Strip into Namibia. Our destination for this episode is the spectacular Epupa falls, in the far North West.
What an achievement for the three Muskateers, and, so many magic moments that we will never forget.

Driving the 4x4 sand road to Deadvlei/Sossusvlei in Namibia (all 4km)
The dead camel thorn trees at the white clay pan Deadvlei surrounded by high sand dunes is one of the greatest sights in Namibia. Deadvlei, and the nearby salt pan Sossusvlei, are located in the Namib-Naukluft Park. To reach Deadvlei, you drive a 60km sealed road from Sesriem until you reach a car park. That's as far you can get with a 4x2 car, but to continue further on to the Deadvlei parking, you need a 4x4 vehicle. The tar road ends at the 4x2 parking and from there you will have to drive 4km on a sand road. This video covers the full 4km of sand driving between the two parkings.

NAMIBIA 4x4 Roadtrip | Travel Inspiration
Our Namibia 4x4 Roadtrip took place in 2020! Can you believe that?! Well, that's because we were lucky to travel to Namibia before the COVID-19 outbreak. We traveled around this AMAZING country by 4x4 jeep with roof tent for 16 days! It was a wild 4x4 adventure as we explored Etosha National Park, Waterberg Plateau, Damaraland, Twyfelfontein, the Skeleton Coast, Torra Bay, Spitzkoppe, Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, Sossusvlei, and Deadvlei.
With its wide-open and dream-like landscapes, Namibia is a traveler's paradise. Home to the vast Namib Desert, a wide variety of wildlife, and a wild coastline, it has some of the most spectacular scenery of Africa. It is also one of the few places left in the world where you can drive for hours on the road without seeing anyone (or anything!). With just over 2.2 million inhabitants, Namibia is the 2nd most sparsely populated country in the world. This mix of ingredients is what makes Namibia the perfect 4x4 road trip destination.
We would highly recommend Namibia to anyone who loves adventure travel and unique landscapes! We hope this video inspires you to travel to Namibia.

Off-Road Trip - Four Days in NAMIBIA
A short off-road trip with friends through Namibia; we mostly travelled west in the Omaruru River Bed and the Ugab River Bed.

4x4 Travel Destination // Namibia: Self Drive to Sandwich Harbour
First and foremost, if you have rented a 4x4 and want to self drive to Sandwich Harbour, where desert meets water in Namibia, make sure you've grabbed your permit from Walvis Bay!
The tours cost about $100 for a half day (just drive there, see it, and come back), so you really are saving quite a bit if you're of the adventurous type and think you can do it yourself.
Our little Nissan rental 4x4 was just barely up to the task. A lot of folks will say you need something more capable, like a Jeep Wrangler, or a pickup truck. And the tour companies take you up and through the dunes, but if you only have a simple little rental SUV like us, just stick to the beach and you'll be fine.
Plan for over an hour, possibly 2, to get to the harbour where the sand dunes meet the sea. It's pretty epic, but the drive will most certainly be stressful, so just be aware of that!
Directions: put Salt Works into your GPS, drive towards it (south) from Walvis Bay, you'll see a sign that says Sandwich Harbour XXKM, just follow the road, there's only one to take, and eventually it just dumps you onto the beach. From there, it gets serious, but it's possible.
Check for when low tide is and you'll have a bit more driving room on parts of the beach.
