Travel Nightmare During Pandemic | Held at the Border ???? (Oman to Dubai Bus Ride)
This was our last “adventure” before we went into isolation and boy was it a heck of a travel day! Things started off so light-hearted and then quickly turned into a travel nightmare ???? Our 8 hour bus ride from Muscat, Oman to Dubai turned into a 13+ disaster with scary border crossings, a drone confiscation and an overcrowded bus filled with people coughing. We were so happy and relieved to get this trip over with!

With my trip through Bhutan suddenly cut short due to the pandemic that exploded around the world in early March of 2020, I had to rush to get out of the country and make it to India, Qatar, and then home to the U.S. before international borders closed. This is travel in 2020 and my virus travel nightmare to get home.
My morning began in Paro, Bhutan on March 13, 2020. That day, the COVID-19 situation around the world escalated, and the U.S. closed flights from Europe on March 13. India also would close their borders to foreigners that day. I had to fly through India to get back home, so I had to cut my time in Bhutan short by two days in order to make it.
I headed to Paro Airport, with my driver from MyBhutan, Nidup, and my guide, Tsheten. There, I checked in and boarded my flight to Kolkata. I used my Clorox wipes to clean everything onboard. After making it through Immigration and answering questions, I took an Ola (the Indian version of Uber) to my hotel.
My boy Carlos from Volpe, Where Are You contacted me to link up, so we went out with masks and hand sanitizer and filmed a few videos before going back to my hotel. At 11:30 p.m., I headed back to the airport. It was almost midnight and so many flights had been cancelled. What a crazy day!
I didn’t get upgraded, but I did get access to the business class lounge, which I didn’t even know existed. I went up to the lounge, which was sick! It had two dining halls, including a buffet and a bar. There was only one other person there. I got a Kingfisher beer and then got Lahori chicken, mustard paprika chicken, Shanghai chicken, and paneer tikka masala.
The paneer was excellent. I also loved the Shanghai chicken, which was dry, crunchy, and sweet, almost like a sweet and sour chicken but less sweet and a little spicier. The mustard paprika chicken was just OK. I loved the paneer with the chicken. The perfect combination of veg and non-veg! Then, I got more paneer and a creamy veg curry.
I had priority, so I would board first. Then, I went down to the gift shop to get a few masks for my kids for $24 USD. Then, I headed to my gate and boarded.
I had a row all to myself on the plane. I needed to sleep and slept the whole 6-hour flight. We landed in Doha, Qatar, which was foggy. It looked like it could have been a sandstorm! From there, I went to two counters and paid $1,000 to upgrade. I wanted to take a shower in the lounge, but I didn’t have time.
I boarded and had a whole row to myself again. I disinfected my TV, tray, and armrest. Everyone had a mask on. I didn’t see anyone cleaning the plane. Seven or eight hours in, I still had 7 hours and 20 minutes to go. It was tiring. I had a quick snack.
I made it to Miami after 50 hours of traveling. It was my longest travel day ever but I was so glad to be home. I was going to quarantine in my house for the next 14 days and not even see my parents.

Day 1 in New Zealand's 5-Star COVID Quarantine ⛓️???? (MIQ Full Review)
I go inside New Zealand's fancy managed isolation & quarantine system (MIQ) and give you a full review. I'll show you the entire process from the airport to the hotel and everything that happens along the way. I'll give you a full tour of the quarantine hotel and review a full day's meal plan and food. This is your guide to entering MIQ in New Zealand.
The quarantine length is 14-days from the moment you land. If you land at midnight, you can leave at midnight after 14 days. It's free for NZ citizens, $5000 for everyone else.
The entire arrival process was very smooth and professional. I got The Sebel Manukau. Despite it being rated ⭐⭐⭐ it's actually more like ⭐⭐⭐⭐.
I was surprised and pleased with it. The room is fantastic. The food is very bland - but that's always the issue when you're cooking for hundreds of people. I can't complain really. There's even a kitchenette so I can make chai! I didn't expect that. There's a Nespresso machine, toaster, kettle, dishwasher, microwave, and fridge too.
If you're Indian or Pakistani, you might be limited to the vegetarian option. All my non-veg meals, so far, have been beef and pork. Although, it's a nice change for me, living in Delhi.
For your chai fix, the sachets that include milk powder are useful to get through quarantine if you don't have a kitchen (or forget your tea strainer as I did). I am missing Taj Mahal and Tapal tea though.
The TV isn't limited, I can plug in my XBOX Series X and doomslay half the day. If you have a lot of foreign electronics bring the right adapters for the wall though (NZ/AU to whatever foreign plug you use).

This vanlife vlog didn't go to plan. After buying a camper van last week, we listened to the comments telling us to take it to a mechanic. After going, we found out the van should have been condemned and it had illegally
been declared roadworthy when it passed its MOT. It was a death trap and this video we try (and succeed) in getting a refund.
Hopefully, this video shows how to buy a camper van safely. We would now always recommend going to a mechanic before you buy it, even if it comes with a service and MOT.

It is everyone's worst nightmare! Coming down with COVID-19 on a cruise ship! Unfortunately, that is exactly what I have done on Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Sea's weekend cruise!
I had joined the ship to celebrate New Year's Eve on Friday, 12/31and by Sat 1/1 at 6am, I was sick with COVID. Certainly not he ships fault as I picked up the virus prior to boarding but after my negative COVID test to board.
Here is my story about becoming ill, testing positive, being quarantined on the ship, and how I will leave the ship Monday morning.

Getting my Senior Citizen Mom Vaccinated (Or the Nightmare with eZConsult)
For many weeks since the government’s vaccine rollout started, I was losing sleep. People I knew had become part of the statistic: the 1.6% of those who contracted COVID-19 who died. So I was anxious about getting my mom, who isn’t just a senior citizen but also a person with comorbidiy, vaccinated. In April I started seeing people getting their jabs, so I was wondering why my mom wasn’t done yet. I took it upon myself to do research, even though I was a few cities away. I registered her in Quezon City’s eZConsut app, but for 4 weeks, no slots were available. By this time I was starting to panic. Why is everyone and everyone’s parent getting vaccinated except for my mom? It really could have been a problem with the LGU and its unreliable use of technology. There could also be a supply issue. After nearly 5 weeks, the QC Facebook page announced that they will make a limited number of slots available, and I was able to snap one for my mom. On the day of her vaccination, we breezed through the queue, mainly because my mom has mobility issues and I had to wheel her in. You can’t imagine the relief I felt when that needle was pushed against her upper arm. I was so happy that my mom was given an added layer of protection. To think that my mom was inclined to wait and see — a clear sign of vaccine hesitancy.
My message to everyone is this: if you’re qualified, get yourself vaccinated. But don’t lie, cheat, or abuse connections to get a slot. If you do, you’re actually taking away someone else’s slot: someone who may be vulnerable, someone who may need it more. Until vaccines become available to the general public and we could just walk into a place to get a shot, it means the supply is limited and your dishonesty or deceit may cost someone his or her life.
Get vaccinated. But don’t cheat to get that slot.
