BEDHAYA ANGRONAKUNG
Sebagai salah satu pusat pelestarian budaya dan tradisi Jawa, Kadipaten Pakualaman memegang peranan penting untuk selalu menggali dan memperkenalkan budaya tradisional kepada masyarakat luas. Dari berbagai pusat pelestarian budaya di Yogyakarta, khususnya seni tari tradisional, tari gagrag Pura Pakualaman memiliki ciri khas dan keunikan tersendiri.
Seperti halnya kerajaan-kerajaan di Jawa, Kadipaten Pakualaman juga memiliki berbagai macam tarian, di antaranya adalah Bedhaya. Bedhaya yang ada di Kadipaten Pakualaman merupakan karya seni tari yang diciptakan pada saat seorang Adipati (Paku Alam) bertahta. Salah satu karya tari yang diciptakan adalah Bedhaya Angronakung,
Bedhaya Angronakung merupakan sebuah tarian agung dari Kadipaten Pakualaman. Penarinya terdiri dari 7 wanita bertata rias dan berbusana bagaikan pengantin. Warna hijau dan merah muda seperti daun dan bunga belimbing mendominasi busana tari ini. Kadangkala juga dipakai perpaduan warna hijau dan kuning. Warna-warna tersebut melambangkan kesuburan, yaitu kesuburan, kesejahteraan, kebahagiaan yang diharapkan dapat diberikan oleh pemimpin kepada masyarakatnya. Sedangkan jumlah penari 7 orang dimaknai pula sebagai sifat-sifat ideal manusia, yang digambarkan oleh 7 orang bidadari, yaitu :
Suprobo : Sifat yang baik dan luhur
Tillotomo : Sifat wanita sempurna
Warsiki : Kecantikan yang sempurna
Surendro : Keinginan/tekad yang besar
Gagar Mayang : Bentuk tubuh yang semampai
Tunjung Biru : Kecantikan yang luar biasa
Lengleng Mulat : Paras muka yang indah

Tari ini diciptakan pada masa pemerintahan K.G.P.A.A. Paku Alam II (bertahta 1829 – 1858). Bedhaya Angronakung dipergelarkan untuk menyambut peristiwa khusus/penting antara lain Tingalan Dalem, penobatan/jumenengan K.G.P.A.A. Paku Alam X, atau atas dawuh Sampeyan Dalem K.G.P.A.A. Paku Alam X. Pementasan Bedhaya Angronakung dalam upacara Jumenengan, dimaksudkan agar perjuangan selama masa pemerintahan K.G.P.A.A. Paku Alam X dipenuhi dengan cinta dan kasih sayang. Sehingga membawa berkah kewibawaan dan kemashuran.
Angronakung berasal dari kata angron dan akung. Angron dimengerti sebagai menyerupai ron (bahasa Indonesia: daun). Akung berarti kasmaran atau sedang jatuh cinta. Tari ini secara simbolis mengetengahkan pengembaraan dan pertemuan Raden Panji Sekar Angronakung dengan Dewi Nawang Resmi (Yang kecantikan dan sifatnya digambarkan seperti 7 bidadari). Pengembaraan dan pertemuan ini dimaknai sebagai perjalanan mencari jati diri dan menemukan hakikat kehidupan.

Jalan cerita Bedhaya Angronakung diungkapkan melalui interpretasi syair yang dinyanyikan oleh sinden. Terciptanya karya tari ini menunjukkan bahwa K.G.P.A.A. Paku Alam II sangat berminat terhadap kesenian di Kadipaten Pakualaman, sehingga keberadaannya tetap lestari.
