Marrakech, surnommée la Ville rouge ou Ville ocre, est une ville du Maroc, dans l'intérieur des terres, au pied des montagnes de l'Atlas. Elle est la Meilleure destination touristique au Maroc, et oui elle numéro un avant meme de la ville de agadir.
Marrakech est réputée pour ses étés très chauds. Le ciel y est constamment bleu et n’espérez pas que les nuages puissent cacher le soleil ! C’est pourquoi la Palmeraie connaît un grand succès l’été. En effet, c’est le seul oasis de fraîcheur de la ville. La météo à Marrakech est très agréable.
Concernant la météo à Marrakech en hiver, les matins sont assez frais. A midi, les températures montent jusque 22°C pour ensuite diminuer assez rapidement en fin de journée. Cela fait plusieurs hivers que nous constatons jusque 25 °C à Noël ou Nouvel an. Cette année encore nous attendons 20°C pour Noël à Marrakech. En hiver la lumière est intense et on se réjouit chaque jour des tempêtes de ciel bleu.
Si l’envie vous prend de découvrir Marrakech en hiver, pensez à vous couvrir,car les soirées sont fraiches et l’écart de température entre le jour et la nuit est assez conséquent.La météo à Marrakech reste cependant supportable et ne descend que très rarement sous les 0°C la nuit.
Le très bon moment pour visiter Marrakech est le printemps car les températures y sont agréables tout au long de la journée et la météo à Marrakech y est donc très clémente. Vers midi,les températures oscillent entre 22°C et 30°C.
L’été, pour la météo à Marrakech, le climat est très doux et agréable le matin et en soirée.En revanche à partir de midi, il est courant de voir les températures atteindre 40,45°C. Les après-midi sont chaudes mais supportables surtout si vous avez une piscine et des climatiseurs dans votre maison. Pensez à vous reposer après 14 heures, pour profiter pleinement des longues soirées d'été à Marrakech.

Weather in Marrakech : March sees temperatures continue to rise in Marrakesh and the weather is mild enough to enjoy everything the city has to offer in comfort. It is still not quite the busy tourist season but the weather will be a welcome reprieve from rainy March in northern Europe.
The temperature in Marrakesh in March has a reasonable range from 11 degrees Celsius up to 23 degrees. The average of these temperatures to expect on any given day is 17 degrees. Due to the considerable swing in temperatures, it is best to pack layers when traveling to this landlocked city. Nights can be quite chilly but days will feel like mid-summer in northern Europe. The average hours of sunshine that bask the area grow to twelve per day. Marrakech fut fondée en 454 de l'Hégire, correspondant à l'an 1062 de l'ère chrétienne par Youssef Ibn Tachfin, premier souverain de la dynastie Almoravide.
Très vite, Marrakech, sous l'impulsion des Almoravides, hommes pieux et austères, de nombreuses mosquées et médersas (écoles de théologie coranique) furent construites, ainsi qu'un centre commercial pour le Maghreb et l'Afrique noire. Marrakech grandit rapidement et s'imposa comme un centre culturel et religieux influent, des remparts sont également édifiés pour protéger la ville.
La ville, fut ensuite fortifiée par le fils de Youssef Ibn Tachfin, Ali Ben Youssef, par la construction de remparts sur plusieurs kilomètres, l'architecture de la ville a été influencée par l'Espagne musulmane.
En 1147, les Almohades, partisans d'un Islam pur et dur s'emparèrent de l'enceinte de ville, les derniers Almoravides exterminés, la presque totalité des monuments détruits. Les Almohades construisirent de nombreux palais et édifices religieux, comme par exemple, la célèbre mosquée de la Koutoubia construite sur les ruines d'un palais almoravide.
Afin d'alimenter la palmeraie et les grands jardins, un système d'irrigation fut perfectionné. Marrakech, par rayonnement culturel attira de nombreux écrivains et artistes, venus notamment d'Andalousie.
En 1269, Marrakech fut conquise par les nomades mérinides aux dépens des derniers Almohades. Lorsque survient l'avènement de la dynastie Mérinide, Marrakech tomba alors dans une certaine léthargie, et son déclin entraîna la perte de son statut de capitale au profit de sa grande rivale, Fès.
Au début du XVIe siècle, Marrakech redevient la capitale du royaume, atteint rapidement son apogée, en particulier grâce au sultan Saadien, Mohammed El Mahdi. De part la fortune amassée par les sultans, Marrakech fut embellie, les monuments en ruine alors restaurés et de somptueux palais édifiés.
Marrakech va de nouveau perdre son statut de capitale.
À la fin du XVIIe siècle, l'actuelle dynastie Alaouite succéda aux Saadiens. Le trône est successivement transféré à Fès puis à Meknès, nouvelle ville impériale.
Au début du XXe siècle, Marrakech connaît quelques années de guerres civiles.
En 1912, l'instauration du protectorat français au Maroc met fin à cette anarchie. En 1956, le retour d'exil du roi Mohammed V sera fêté à Marrakech comme dans le reste du pays. (wikipedia)
Marrakech or Marakesh (مراكش Murrakush), known as the Red City or Al Hamra, is a city in southwestern Morocco in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. One of the possible origin of its name could be from the Tamazight (Berber) words mur (n) akuch, which means Land of God. (The root mur is nowadays in the Berber languages only used in the feminine form tamurt). The same word mur/mawr appears in the country Mauritania, but this interpretation is still unproven to this day, and there are other possibilities which are often invoked. The name Morocco itself derives from Murrakush. This city is located at 31°37′60″N, 8°0′0″W and is the capital of the Marrakech-Tensift-El Haouz region. Marrakech has the largest traditional market (souk) in Morocco and also has the busiest square in the entire continent of Africa, called Djemaa el Fna.
Like many North African and Middle Eastern cities, Marrakech has two main divisions: the old city (médina) and the modern city.

Der Sieger Abou Youssouf Yakoub gab schließlich Marrakesch als Hauptstadt zugunsten von Fes auf. Unter den Saaditen wurde Marrakesch von 1554 an dann vorübergehend erneut marokkanische Hauptstadt. Unter der nachfolgenden Dynastie der Alaouiten, der auch das heutige Herrscherhaus entstammt, wurde erneut Fes Regierungssitz.

Today was an extra special day of exploring in Marrakech, Morocco as we met up with another family from New Zealand! It was lots of fun wandering through the small alleyways of the Medina and trying lots of different street food at the small stalls, kiosks and restaurants around the main square of Marrakesh.
