Madagascar: A natural treasure to protect I WIDE

Some call it the continent island because of its size, others call it the Great Red Island owing to the colour of its soil.

In any case, Madagascar deserves the title of island of diversity thanks to all the endemic species it shelters, including the famous baobab.

But this bountiful land is also very fragile.

Meet with those who fell in love with Madagascar and now strive to preserve its delicate beauty.

Exploring the Andrefana Dry Forests of Madagascar | SLICE TRAVEL | FULL DOCUMENTARY

In Madagascar, three seasoned speleologists hope to discover new cavities.

They come to the terrain to verify the presence of chasms detected on satellite photos. A new technique that could revolutionise cave exploration. But in the Tsingys massif of the Ankarana, nothing is ever easy. In the stifling heat, progression is slow, as the zone is virgin and unexplored.

Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Tsingy appears as veritable limestone cathedrals, constituted by a dense network of faults, crevasses, surfaces of stone sculpted into sharp needles or blades.

Paradise on Earth, Madagascar | Ethnic Tribe's Reed House | World Theme Travel | #PickedDocumentary

The journey to search for primordial nature begins in Madagascar. The Republic of Madagascar is an island country that is located to the east of Africa and the 4th largest island in the world. We run into the Mahafaly people while walking on the endless salt lake and follow them to their village. The Mahafaly Village is located around the salt lake and it is where one of the 18 ethnic groups of Madagascar live with 21 families calling it home. Vondro is a grass type of reed and it is a material used to build the “trano falafa,” their traditional house. It is incredibly easy to build a house out of reeds and they change the reed every 2 years. We meet the happy children who mainly eat cassava and obtain milk from goats, one of their farm animals. #Cassava #Madagascar #ReedHouse
