MORNING ARRIVAL AT AHMEDABAD- Crossing diesel depot, 4 BG trains & MG train!

Grand morning arrival into Ahmadabad Junction on-board the bi-weekly 16338 Ernakulam Okha Express on a chilly January morning. The power for my train were the fiery ERS WDM-3A twins. This video was captured from Maninagar to Ahmedabad in which we crossed four trains in the short span of 8-9 minutes.
1) The first train to cross was the 17624 Bikaner Nanded weekly Express which was with a furiously honking KJG WDG-3A, followed by the legendary 22954 ADI BCT Gujarat SF Express which was with a BRC WAG-5P locomotive.
2) Our train slows down at the Kankaria Diesel depot where one can spot various locos, namely, TKD WDM-3A, BGKT WDP-4, VTA WDM-3D, RTM WDM-3A and RTM WDM-3D to name a few.
3) As we move ahead, one can spot SBI YDM-4 leading few shunting activities at the MG end of Ahmadabad Junction.
4) As we snake towards platform end, we first cross a train being shunted towards maintenance depot with the help of BRC WAG-5 barbie doll loco followed by a loaded BCNA freighter which was with a heavy weight VTA WDG-3A.
5) Our train finally enters platform no 1 and one can also see a BRC WAP-4E beast sleeping peacefully at the sidings near platform 2.

The video was captured on 24/01/2016 when Ahmedabad Junction had both BG as well as MG lines :)

Meter Gauge train morning departure from Ahmedabad : Parallel action with BG Shunter..

Finally i got a chance to undergo a meter gauge train journey after nearly two decades. My earliest memories of MG train travel is nearly 20 years ago in the Hubli-Dharwad and Hubli-Gadag-Guntakal section. Hence I thought i will take up a MG train journey before the whole MG section is wiped off from Indian Railway network. So once I was in Ahmedabad, I decided to take a ride on MG Intercity Express which is one of the quickest MG trains of the ADI MSH section. As we depart ADI, on the adjacent side one can see a cute violet SBI YDM-4#6332 getting ready to depart with the Ahmedabad Khed Brahma passenger. As we snake out of the platform we meet the just arrived rake of Superstar Ashram SF Express. And as we advance further, the little YDM displays light chugging skills and we meet few shunting trains and an aeroplane on the way.. We get small parallel action with a shunter and eventually overtake it out of Ahmedabad!

High speed BG MG clash : Mehasana Intercity meets Rajdhani Express..

High speed meter guage meets high speed broad guage
A speedy crossing captured during a thrilling ride on the then fast MG intercity train which was connecting Ahmedabad to Mehasana. Seen here is the train skipping Khodiyar station at a very good speed and as it accelerates towards its next halt Kalol, it meets a 15 minutes late running Rajdhani Express bound to Ahmedabad..
All the meter gauge lines from Ahmedabad Junction are presently closed for gauge conversion, thus bringing an end to a wonderful era of 50+ years of MG in this region.

INDIAN RAILWAYS A MAGICAL METRE GAUGE JOURNEY FROM UDAIPUR to AHMEDABAD through the Aravali Ranges

Being the First MG Overnight Journey (After almost 12 Years) i was very excited . There were also two co-railfans along with me in this Journey , Adithya and Sarabha Saaluvesh . This journey was a part of our MG Trip That we made in june-2015 (IZN MG , JP MG and Udaipur) .

Highlights of Udaipur section

The Main Attraction of this line is the Scenery . The line passes through the Aravali Ranges ,Particularly Ride in this MG Express would be a bliss as it crosses the aravali in the evening .

There is only one tunnel en-route ie The ZAWAR Tunnel which is located just before Zawar Station .

There are two crossing for this train enroute , one the 52928/Mewar Fast MG Passenger And The other being the counter part of this train 19944/Ahmedabad Udaipur Express (MG)

The First one crosses at Umra while the second crossing happens midnight at HMT Himmatnagar .

FOR FOOD :

The only source of food enroute is the stall @ZAWAR railway station . I would suggest any traveler (Whos willing to take this train) to get the dinner at Udaipur Itself as The Zawar Stall has absolutely Nothing except for tea and snacks .

HIGHLIGHTS OF OUR JOURNEY

-We Encountered smoke coming out of the under carriage part . We quickly informed the TTE who was in S1 (we were in S2) when the train halted for an un-scheduled Halt near ZAWAR . The TTE Informed the Guard and the LP/ALP About this and in return the message was that , they would check the train at ZAWAR since the train was now halted at a no man's zone deep inside the aravali . At Zawar the crew inspected the carriage and extinguished the fire that was coming out of it . We Departed Late from Zawar but still managed to reach HMT On time

-The View of the spectacular Aravali Ranges in the evening with the MG Rake Dancing .

-Parallel Action Outside ADI Railway station with JAT - ADI Express..

Overall The Experience Was Very Good.. This is a must try train :) For more Details

Ahmedabad junction and train (Gujarat - India)

(EN) Ahmedabad (Gujarati: અમદાવાદ Amdāvād; Urdu: احمدآباد Aḥmadābād) is the largest city in Gujarat, India. It is the seventh largest city and fifth largest metropolis of India, with a city population of approximately 3.96 million and metro population of 5.41 million.[3][4] Located on the banks of the River Sabarmati, the city is the administrative centre of Ahmedabad district and was the capital of Gujarat from 1960 to 1970; the capital was shifted to Gandhinagar thereafter. In the middle of 1990's it was the fifth largest city in india. In colloquial Gujarati, the city is commonly called Amdavad.
Ahmedabad was founded in 1411 by Sultan Ahmed Shah to serve as the capital of the Gujarat Sultanate, and was named after him. Under the British rule, a military cantonment was established and the city infrastructure was modernized and expanded. Though incorporated into the Bombay Presidency during British rule, Ahmedabad remained the most important city in the Gujarat region. The city established itself as the home of a booming textile industry, which earned it the nickname the Manchester of the East.[5][6] The city was at the forefront of the Indian independence movement in the first half of the 20th century.[7] It was the centre of many campaigns of civil disobedience to promote workers' rights civil rights and political independence.
With the creation of the state of Gujarat in 1960, Ahmedabad gained prominence as commercial capital of the state. The city is witnessing a major construction boom and population increase. A rising centre of education, information technology and scientific industries, Ahmedabad remains the cultural and commercial heart of Gujarat and much of western India.

AHMEDABAD JUNCTION departure and spottings of various Indian Railways Locos @ELS!

[IRFCA] [INDIAN RAILWAYS]

Watch out this buddies :)
Departure from biggest & busiest railway station within Gujarat and second highest income generating division in Western Railways besides Mumbai Division..

My previous take on this station:

Some of my previous coverages:

-----------------
Ahmedabad Railway Station is the main railway station of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. It is also the biggest & busiest railway station within Gujarat. It is second highest income generating division in Western Railways besides Mumbai Division.
The main railway station of Ahmedabad, also referred to as the Ahmedabad Junction Railway Station or Kalupur Railway Station, is the primary station of rail transport for the city of Ahmedabad in the state of Gujarat, India and an important center of the Western Railways zone of the Indian Railways. Locally people refer to it as Kalupur Station (as it is situated in Kalupur area of the walled city) to distinguish it from other stations in the city like Gandhigram, Asarva, Sarkhej, Vastrapur, Chandlodia, Vatva, Maninagar and Sabarmati Junction. It serves trains that connect Ahmedabad to different parts of Gujarat, as well as major Indian cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Trivandrum, Ajmer, Dhanbad, Daltonganj, Jaipur and Indore.

The station has twelve platforms. There are an ample numbers of tea stalls, snack bars, medical shops and enquiry desks. The station also has one cybercafe which is run by Tata Indicom. The government is also considering making the station WiFi enabled. The station is undergoing large-scale automation to make it a technologically advanced station, and new ATM outlets from ICICI Bank, Canara Bank, Union Bank of India, Dena Bank, Bank of Baroda, State Bank of India & other major banks has been installed. RailTel plans to open Cyber Cafe in Ahmedabad Station.
For more info:

As we depart the station..one can see SURAT Jamnagar ICE..then two AJJ WAG-5HA pulling with freight...
As we move further...we see rakes of Virar Shuttle..and wcam1...
