MAJOR CHANGE OF PLANS (Van life update)
UPDATE - This week we have a major change of plans as the border crossing we were hoping to use from Spain to Morocco is closed ???? Leaving us no choice than to book a 47 hour ferry from Marseille in France over to Morocco.
But STILL not complaining, we're well on our way to completing Mission: DRIVE TO MOROCCO in our bus! ???????? ???? Woohoo where we've decided we don't want another cold winter in the UK. Our mates @eamonandbec mentioned they'd be heading back to Morocco to pick up their van trinity and we couldn't think of a lovelier place to spend Christmas ????
In the mean time, we travel to Biarritz and spend the day with a lovely local French man✌️

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small business from the spare bedroom of our apartment. We discovered the world of “travel hacking” & became obsessed. So after 2 years of saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world. Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went home to normal life. We started this travel vlog to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with this lifestyle and did everything we could to keep going. 4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time. HUGE Change of Plans for Van Life...
The past week has changed pretty much everything about our plans to start van life, so keep watching to hear about what happened, and more importantly, what happens next!
Oh, we also ripped out the sink cabinet that we quite literally JUST build in order to take a few inches. Turns out, making it more space-efficient in our van’s kitchen alley was a brilliant idea (because when you can hardly fit through it, surprisingly it isn’t very fun to use!)

We are a couple of full-time travel dreamers who decided to pack up our lives to explore the world - and then 2020 happened. After flying back home, we were not ready to give up our new lifestyle yet, so we bought a minivan, converted it into a DIY minivan camper, and drove across Canada in search of beautiful campsites and stunning mountains to climb. We are currently on a different sort of adventure, converting a Ford Transit cargo van into our new full-time home on wheels in hopes of exploring North America and conquering more mountains - and hopefully even the Arctic Ocean!

Who are we? ????????♀️
We're Tom and Iz, who live and travel in our van La Bamba. We love nature and are currently traveling in Norway!!
You might find Tom in the forest IDing a mushroom, fixing something or starting an ambitious project with his laid-back relaxed approach whereas you could find Isabel cooking up a storm, sunning herself on a beach and being a busy, energetic bee with her endless enthusiasm and positivity! We are total opposites but it works!
How did we end up here?! ???? ⏮
We met 10 years ago when we were both finishing our A-levels and had a whirlwind summer romance, hitch-hiking around France together before before going our separate ways to travel and to university. We've both always prioritised travel and adventure and have worked hard over the years in hospitality jobs to enable us to keep exploring.
Tom hitch-hiked across Europe and road tripped around Australia whilst Iz studied Environmental Science at York. Iz backpacked around South America with her sister whilst Tom studied Forestry at Aberdeen University. Little did we know we just weren't going to get each other out of our minds! Fast forward 4 years later, we found ourselves in campsite warden job, living in a bell tent in a wild flower meadow together! Maybe without realising this was the start of our van life journey!
Next, we both trained to be science teachers and during training, we bought a van, ripped out it's interior and converted it to live in it. Iz managed to get a remote work-from-home job that she could do from the van and Tom was passionate about starting up a YouTube channel.
Since then we haven't looked back and when the pandemic allowed us to, we travelled to Spain, Portugal, Scotland, Ireland, Wales and around Cornwall. We are now on a big European road trip! We are giving it our best shot to do YouTube full time. We have a dream of one day owning a little plot of land and building ourselves a cabin in the woods. If you're new around here you can check out our previous videos; we've been uploading weekly videos for the last 9 months and are currently releasing DAILY VIDEOS.
Our message on our channel is to inspire others to do what they love as life is too short! We love living simply, freely with less stuff but more time!

A BIG Change of Plans On Our Off Grid Land in Portugal, Our Homestead Ep8 & Your Questions Answered
Hello! In today's episode (EP8) we have our first land chat, where we update you on a BIG change to our plans. We also have news on our D7 Portuguese Visa AND we answer some of your questions... ENJOY! :)
We are now the proud owners of a stunning off grid property in Portugal, Lobateira, which we've renamed 'The Wild Lands'. We've been searching for our own slice off grid heaven to start a homestead. We decided to base our search around the Castelo Branco region of Portugal, as the land here is not only beautiful, but far cheaper than the Algarve. Equally, there are many off grid families in the region, and we wanted to be close to a community of like-minded people.
We were 'stuck' in the UK (again) since returning to see loved ones over Christmas while we waited for our D7 Visa for Portugal. After nearly 6 months of waiting, we got to leave! This was a mammoth task as we had to transit through France to Spain in 24 hours or less! (see previous videos) Now we've finally bought our own at land in Portugal. Follow us on our adventure in the sun! (and sometimes biblical Portuguese rain!!!) As we start turning The Wild Lands' into our own off grid heaven.

Big change of plans: saying goodbye [van life travel vlog]
I'm so sorry to say this, but I have to leave and divert from my original travel plans for this year on the East Coast. My van life travel vlog is taking me back to the West Coast
It's been a wonderful 4.5 months traveling the coast from Arizona to Maine, but it's time for me to move on for a variety of reasons. The first part of the vlog is about me visiting with some really cool new friends in Maine and New York. The second half is me traveling back to the West Coast after saying goodbye to the East Coast trip.
It was an amazing adventure on the East Coast. I hope to be back one day and now I'm more prepared for what to expect and how to travel.

After 1 year of traveling, I sold my 26 foot Winnebago Class C RV for a more nimble Class B van on a Promaster 2500 chassis. Now in my 4th year of RVing in my camper van, I'm still loving this RV lifestyle and being a digital nomad. I almost always boondock in nature and really enjoy that off grid living.
