BULA from one of my all-time favorite countries -- FIJI!

I am here for a third visit -- but this time is just a 24-hour layover en route from Micronesia to Tuvalu -- so I decided to make a 5th episode of my favorite series, seeing how far I can maximize $100 in 24 hours!

Many people think that Fiji is so expensive (and it certainly can be)... but if you live like a local, then I find it to be cheaper than anywhere else in the Pacific.

Why I Chose to Live in Fiji

If you are lucky enough to have spent time in Fiji, you've interacted with people consistently labeled the friendliest and happiest on earth. The internet is full of bloggers who presumed that must be tourism hype... until they came and experienced it for themselves! Expats who have moved here, and of course Fijians themselves, are all well aware of this welcoming and inclusive spirit, and how infectious it can be. After all, who can't use more happy in their lives?

The same is true for Wrenn Edwards, our real estate sales and marketing coordinator. Wrenn has lived in Australia, Europe, and the USA, but it was the welcoming, treat-you-like-family culture that exists in Fiji which compelled her to make it her home.

She talks about that, and about living in Pacific Harbour (Fiji's adventure capital and home to Nanuku Resort Fiji) with true admiration and appreciation in our latest video.

Climate change never felt more real to my eyes until I arrived here in KIRIBATI - a small island nation in the Central Pacific Ocean.

The rising sea levels are quickly shrinking this country, which has a peak altitude of 3 meters. It's projected to be entirely underwater by the year 2100.

While many countries are feeling the impacts of climate change, nobody is more threatened right now than the 100,000+ residents of Kiribati.

The question now becomes, how do we prevent the people here from becoming climate refugees? The only 4 options I can think of are the following:

1. Build a higher sea wall (which will cost billions of USD)
2. Buy land overseas for them to relocate (will also cost a fortune)
3. Send more Kiribati citizens abroad (i.e. Australia and New Zealand) for jobs, and they can slowly adapt to a new life
4. Boost tourism in Kiribati so people can see firsthand the effects of climate change, which will also pump money back into the economy

Would love to get your thoughts on what we can do to help the wonderful people of Kiribati. I encourage you all to get creative and share your best solutions below. I will be reading and responding to as many comments as I can, and I encourage you to do the same. This is important.

Why I Really Don't Like This Country ????????

UPDATE: I WENT BACK TO BRUNEI TO GIVE IT A 2ND CHANCE!

While I constantly try to find the positives in every place I visit, there are a few nations that I just simply didn't enjoy.

The country of BRUNEI is one of them.

I went to Brunei back in 2014, three years before I made videos, but my negative experiences in the country have stuck in my mind ever since. That, combined with its absurd human rights laws such as stoning to death LGBT members, I felt like this video needed to be shared with the world.

Have you ever visited any countries that you didn't enjoy? Please share below, I'm curious to know.
