#GoLater: Virtual Travel to French Polynesia with Nicole Isaacs |

Can you imagine anything dreamier than island-hopping around French Polynesia? Between its turquoise lagoons and overwater bungalows, it’s paradise on Earth. Here's how JS tastemaker Nicole Isaacs spent her time in Bora Bora, Mo'orea, and Tahiti. Don’t forget to subscribe!

Bora Bora

Check in to the Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora! Everything you could ever want in a Tahitian hideaway, you’ll find at this Four Seasons: thatched-roof bungalow villas with stone walls and mother-of-pearl details, locations on the beach or the lagoon itself, direct access to that legendary turquoise South Pacific water, and stunning views of Mount Otemanu. Of the overwater bungalows here, 15 come with private saltwater plunge pools; beachfront villas are more spacious and better suited for families and groups. Don't miss a spin in the resort catamaran, and save your appetite for French-Polynesian cuisine (Moorea shrimp with radish and snow peas; seared yellowfin tuna with roasted pineapple) at Arii Moana, one of the hotel’s four restaurants.

Swim with stingrays and sharks

Of course, it’s not enough to simply relax above the waves—you need to experience the warm South Pacific waters for yourself. Rent a canoe for a private, low-key spin around the lagoon, where you might spot stingrays and fish swirling beneath and around your paddle. If you want to get even more up close and personal, book a snorkel safari or catamaran cruise. Boats sail past the Otemanu and Pahia peaks before entering more open water, where you get to don your gear and jump in next to rays, and reef sharks (the friendly kind, of course).

3 Weeks in French Polynesia (Moorea, Bora Bora, Rangiroa, Ra'iatea, Taha'a)

The complete video of our trip to French Polynesia in 2016, with all 4 individual parts of the trip edited together.

Part 1: After flying Tahiti, the island of Moorea was our first destination during our trip to French Polynesia in 2016. We stayed at the Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort and had a great time exploring the island with Albert Transport's 4WD Safari Tour.

Part 2: Our visit to Bora Bora! Bora Bora was the second stop during our 3-week trip to French Polynesia in 2016. We stayed in an overwater bungalow at Le Meridien Bora Bora and went on a few excursions, including: skydiving, swimming with whales and sharks, and snorkeling with stingrays.

Part 3: Our third stop was Rangiroa, where we stayed at Hotel Kia Ora Resort & Spa and Le Sauvage Private Island. Several miles away from the nearest road, no electricity, surrounded by bright, blue water. Definitely the most relaxing place and remote location we've ever been!

Part 4: Sailing on a catamaran between Bora Bora, Raiatea, and Taha'a during our final week. We sailed around the bright, blue waters of Bora Bora, saw a whale and dolphin, swam with stingrays, snorkeled the Coral Garden in Taha'a, toured a vanilla farm, visited a pearl farm, watched a traditional Polynesia dance show at Le Ficus, and enjoyed living on a boat for a week!

Hidden Island Paradise in French Polynesia

What's the most beautiful Island in French Polynesia?

Most people go to Bora Bora or Tahiti, or even Rangiroa, but I found something even better.

This atoll is known for shark diving, Manta rays, and one long stretch of island that is so thin, you can see from the Pacific to the lagoon just by turning your head. Under 900 people live there, and it's perfect, with one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen!

Watch to see if you can catch the name!

Many Thanks to Matthew Reichel of Inertia Network for the drone shots:

Blazing Hot Bora Bora || Sailing the Society Islands, French Polynesia

We're in Bora Bora and our expectations are HIGH. We're going on a walkabout to hit-up some of the most popular things to do on the island. But can Bora Bora live up to its reputation?

After a stop to the island Visitors Center we were armed with a BEST THINGS TO DO in Bora Bora map and we set off with a plan for an amazing day. The best hike-to view, a majestic banyon tree, an amazing local parfume shop and boutique, homemade ice cream stand, the most beautiful beach and of course the best local lunch place to have a bite.

After chatting with the people at the Visit Bora Bora tourist stand our expectations were set to a level that we should have realized was unobtainable. Was it a total fail? No, not even close. We had a wonderful time exploring the south end of Bora Bora and we cooled off with a snorkel surrounded by curious fish.

For our next adventure we'll keep our expectations at a normal level, that way we'll be pleasantly surprised no matter what we see.

BTW - YES it was really, really hot and humid. I've no idea why we chose the hottest day to have an island land adventure! Haha.

16 Days in French Polynesia | Overwater Bungalow in Bora Bora & Epic Diving in Rangiroa and Fakarava

Watch the entire 16 day islands of Tahiti itinerary unfold where we started on Tahiti, explored the Papeete Market, lived in luxury at Le Meridien Bora Bora, experienced Rangiroa and Fakarava as locals, and did some of the most epic dives. Open this up to learn more ↓

This journey to paradise starts from Toronto via San Francisco to Tahiti and follows us in linear order, how we planned our vacation through the islands, hopping to Bora Bora, Rangiroa, and then Fakarava before coming back to Tahiti with Air Tahiti.

This trip was possible because of our strategic use of points which included Aeroplan to get us to Tahiti with United Airlines and leveraging a mix of Marriott Bonvoy and Amex Membership Rewards to get our free stay at Le Meridien Bora Bora.

Bora Bora ????

St Regis Bora Bora Resort French Polynesia - Honeymoon, living the dream, and trip of a lifetime!

This is our version of Couples Retreat in Bora Bora!

We stayed at the St Regis Bora Bora Resort for 5 days in May 2014.

We stayed in room 103 which is a Premier Overwater Villa with Jacuzzi (not heated). This resort was the bees knees! The room we stayed in was the same room from the opening of the movie Couples Retreat when they first arrived at Eden. It is from the scene when Vince Vaughn is on the balcony talking about the water. Needless to say it is pretty awesome.

During our stay at the St Regis Bora Bora Resort we enjoyed an exquisite spread of sun-kissed activities. We road bicycles around the resort, went snorkeling in the onsite lagoon (there were so many fish!), enjoyed a couples massage at the onsite Miri Miri Spa, lounged at the two onsite pools, drank at the swim up bar, tried our luck at Paddle boarding and pedal boating, chilled out in hammocks, jumped off our balcony into the ocean & practiced our backflips into the ocean, etc.

The dining was fabulous at the St Regis Bora Bora Resort! For breakfast we had the all you can eat gourmet breakfast at Te Pahu Restaurant. For dinner we indulged our taste buds at the three restaurants LAGOON by Jean-Georges, Sushi Take, and Far Niente Risstorante.

I hope y'all enjoy the video as much as I enjoyed making it and livin' it!

All the video and photos were taken with an Olympus TG-2.

We booked our travel accommodations and excursions with our good friend Becky Veith. You can do a quick google search or find her website here:

We traveled with United Airlines in this order:

Orlando, FL → San Fransisco, CA → Tahiti, PPT

In Tahiti, we stayed at the Intercontinental Tahiti Resort & Spa for 1 night in their “Junior Suite Overwater Superior Lagoon Bungalow.” We got to Tahiti at 7 pm, so we couldn’t see the hotel very well at night but our room was very nice. It’s the perfect size for a couple!

The next day we traveled with a Tahiti Airline in this order:

Tahiti → Moorea → Bora Bora (our final destination)

At 2:00 in my video, I say we travel from Tahiti to somewhere else and that somewhere else is Moorea. Apparently, this is another vacation destination a lot of people visit.

Our travel time from Orlando to Bora Bora was a bit over 20 hrs. This includes layovers and travel time on the plane.

In Bora Bora, we stayed at the Intercontinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa. The room we stayed in is called the
“Diamond Otemanu Overwater Villa.” Personally, I thought our room has the best view because it faced the mountain. Some rooms face just water and others face the resort (which are still beautiful, but just thought you should know for visual purposes.)

The water is amazing! This video does the water no justice sometimes. It’s crystal clear! It’s also the perfect temperature AND its shallow enough to stand in. I am 5’ 2’’ and I stood on the water no problem. I would suggest getting reef shoes beforehand (the gift shop is crazy expensive) if you feel weird about whatever you may encounter in the ocean. You probably won’t see a shark but the stingrays are REAL Y’ALL!

On my birthday, we went to the SPA which was fantastic and a definite MUST if you’re looking for a relaxing massage and experience especially if you’ve traveled far. We did the “Marine Romance” package. The spa is expensive BUT it was a very lengthy massage and afterwards comes with amenities that are only available to those who buy a package.

For our jet ski excursion, we went around the entire island in 2 hours and we made a stop on a tiny island where we cut our own coconuts (as seen in the video) We also drank the coconut water which was delicious.

Remember when traveling across the world like this, you have to consider the time changes. Since we are from the East Coast we gained an extra 6 hours! Luckily for us, that meant that we woke up 6 hours earlier than we usually would here in the states so we got to see every sunrise and go to breakfast before everyone else lol
