We spent 5 summer months filming Lebanon from Above, including its rural, urban, cultural touristic and historical location, as well as the amazing number of festivals.

The idea was to show Lebanon's beauty, diversity and wealth from another angle (above), in order to encourage and promote international and domestic tourism.

My main personal goal is to remind us all that Lebanon is not all about problems, political turmoil, trash...etc but is first and foremost a country that has so much to offer on such a small portion of land, and is still, in spite of everything, truly beautiful.

Maybe by seeing this video, people who lost sight of what Lebanon truly is, will have newfound optimism and strength to participate in steering the country in the right direction, to understand that it is their country to love and protect.

We filmed from mid June to early November and covered Mount Lebanon, Beirut, Southern Lebanon, the Bekaa, Baalbek and North Lebanon.

The book, also titled Rise Above Lebanon, was released on 2 December 2015. it is a hardcover photography book of the highest standard, with 200 pages of images of Lebanon from Above and is available in all major bookshops in Lebanon.

A travel documentary on one of the most complicated places in the Mediterranean, Lebanon and its capital Beirut. A place where the fascination for the traveller comes from the local people. We visit the old Phoenician cities of Sidon, Tyre, Biblos. The roman ruins of Balbaak and the Ommayadi town of Anjar. We also explore Tripoli, in the North but our heart has been captured by Beirut. Where we explore a difficult city, thanks to the help of Ronnie, and especially Iffat

Traveling in North Lebanon. Discover Some Tourist Attractions!

A Dutch tourist in Lebanon - traveling in North Lebanon. Check out some of the tourist attractions in this part of the country. My trip started in Enfeh, a fishing village on the Mediterranean coast which is famous for its white and blue Greek-style houses, old churches and more recently salt production. The trip continued to Amioun, the capital of a predominantly Greek Orthodox district. Then we drove up in the mountains. Here you can find some picturesque small towns like Enfeh, Bcharre and several ski resorts. In April, the peaks of Mount Lebanon were still covered with snow but spring was coming to the Kadisha Valley.

This film is an homage to Lebanon and Leonardo Dalessandri’s Watchtower of Turkey:

We were so moved and fascinated by his film that we wanted to express Lebanon the same way. The entire film was only shot in three days, so yes, there are a lot of stuff about the country that are missing (Tripoli, Saida, Tyre, Zahle, Baalbeck, etc). As for the music, “Experience” always struck us as the perfect fit for Lebanon before even watching Watchtower of Turkey.
Obviously we are far behind Dalessandri’s techniques but hopefully our skills will grow further and with time and practice we’ll do a better job in the future.

I Love Beirut, Lebanon

Check out some of the major tourist attractions in Lebanon's capital and largest city Beirut! The video starts in Beirut Raouche near the Pigeon Rocks, Beirut's most prominent landmark. Then it takes you to the Beirut Souks which boast a large number of upscale shops by major international brands. Close to the souks, you will find Nejmeh Square which is home to two cathedrals and the building of the Lebanese Parliament. The 1930s clock tower with the four-faced Rolex clock rises majestically in the center of the square. Martyrs' Square also lies in downtown Beirut. The square originally commemorated the martyrs fallen during Ottoman rule. In the 1950s, it became a popular venue for cinemas and coffee houses and later during the Lebanese Civil War it formed the demarcation line between East and West Beirut. If you need to have lunch in Beirut, I would strongly recommend Le Chef in the Gymmayze area. Le Chef specialises in traditional Lebanese food. Finally, the video takes you to Sassine Square in Ashrafiyeh and the marina in Zaitunay Bay.
