Rebuilding Gear box on Leopard 43 Catamaran Part 2 - Preparing to Sail Around the World (3)
Digging into the 2007 Leopard 43 transmission to replace the clutch cones was a bit of a challenge, but wasn't too difficult. I needed a few tools including an impact drive 1 1/4 socket, a set of picks. A few of the nuts, including the output shaft nut is left-handed. While I was not able to find the exact manual for the KM35A, it was close enough to the transmissions described in this PDF:

We’re Katie Kevin, Ben, Ethan Molly and Truman. We have a dream of ditching the rat race and sailing around the world with our family. It takes a bit more preparation for this kind of trip than putting on a pair of sweats and running to the store.
We've been sailing beach cats for a long time, but a few years ago we decided to start looking into buying a boat that could take to the south pacific. Before we could do that we needed to learn navigation, systems, and mostly how to drive one of these beasts.
This year we pulled the trigger on a Leopard 43 Sailing Catamaran and named it Tusitala. We are currently getting it ready for a year or more of sailing, and preparing our selves as best we can for the journey.
Follow us as we prepare the boat to learn the ropes and prepare to throw off the shackle's everyday life and set off to explore the world. We may not make it, but if we do it will be a once in a lifetime journey, sailing the world with our Seven on the Sea.

Robertson & Caine, with 30 years of experience in the powercat business, are launching a catamaran that’s larger and more comfortable than the 43PC – which is being dropped from the catalog. The new 46 borrows the design of her bigger sistership, the 53 PC. The hulls have been designed from the outset start as motorboat hulls. These feature very large lateral windows, while the forward windows of the coachroof are vertical in order to integrate the forward door more easily - all these windows are made in tempered glass for maximum clarity and to give good longevity. Inside, the new matt beige finish replaces the former gloss white. The 46 will be available in a 3 or 4-cabin version with special attention having been paid to comfort: wide, comfortable berths accessible from the side, increased floor space and improved interior lighting. The two engines – either 250, 320 or 370 HP - are completely isolated from the living area. With the boat in lightship condition, with the most powerful engine configuration, the maximum speed is 25 knots - 20 knots when fully loaded. The range varies from 250 miles to 1,500 miles depending on the speed.

This catamaran is most definitely a modern boat which is both impressive in terms of living space on board and with the volume of the cabins cleverly augmented by the use of stepped hulls.
The flybridge is especially well-equipped with a grill, bar and really comfortable seating area. Also on the 43 PC is the now standard passage from the interior to the forward cockpit, making it easier for getting around on board while creating optimum ventilation. Inside, the bench seat and the table are located at the aft of the salon, allowing for improved communication with the aft cockpit. These two spaces even become one, if the sliding glazed door is opened right up.
Forward in the salon, the modern galley offers spectacular views thanks to a second glazed window and the door to the side which allows direct access to the foredeck as well as the windlass.
