Savannakhet bus station
Savannakhet bus station is the main transport hun in southern Laos and a jumping point to central Vietnam provinces like Hue and Da Nang .

Approximate time is an hour included procedure at the customs.
There is a booth selling an entry ticket between the custom and the exit in Laos, which doesn't have direction in English for foreigners, then I don't get one in every time being to enter Laos, but there is such probability as to be ask to get the ticket for one dollar by an officer at the exit on Sunday and Saturday.

VISA RUN TO SAVANNAKHET, LAOS (Part 1) -- Teaching English in Thailand Vlog // 220
Of course screwed up on our first visa run. Here's part 1 of a very long visa run to Savannakhet, Laos. Because I'm teaching English in Thailand, I need to get a non b visa, or a non-immigrant b visa for work purposes in Thailand. In order to file the paperwork for the visa, I need to go to a neighboring country's Thai consulate right quick (hence, visa run).
Mediakids Academy, the agency who got me the job at this school, has connections with the consulate in Savannakhet, Laos, so that was where they sent me. Unfortunately, it was about a 14-hour trip to get to Savannakhet from Nakhon Nayok, Thailand. This included a van ride from Nakhon Nayok to Rangsit, then a bus from Rangsit to Mukdahan, then another bus across the border into Savannakhet, then a final tuk-tuk ride from the Laos border to the Thai consulate. All in all, our visa run transportation cost 1,120 baht (~$35 USD) roundtrip, not including traveling around Savannakhet.
Once in Savannakhet, we realized we could only begin our visa paperwork between the hours of 9am and 11am. Coincidentally, we got there at 11:29am. Yep, that means we needed to wait until the next day to start the paperwork, which takes 2 days to process. The next day was Friday. Therefore, we have extended our visa run trip two-fold and will be here all weekend!

There are not many travellers to come in Savannakhet as there is nothing much to be seen compared to Pakse or Luang Prabang, all the more I like Savannakhet.
The athlete field I mentioned in this footage has been being broken as of Jun, 2013, building new park, then you mightn't see the way easily, anyway you should go for the same direction in going roundabout the worksite.
