The markets in Luxembourg City are located at Place Guillaume II which is a town square in Luxembourg City, in southern Luxembourg. Place Guillaume II square lies to the west of Krautmaart and to the north of Boulevard Franklin Delano Roosevelt in the heart of Luxembourg's historic Ville Haute quarter. Place Guillaume II square is colloquially known as Knuedler, from the Luxembourgish language's word for 'knot', referring to the knot in the belt worn by Franciscan friars.
The western half of the square is dominated by Luxembourg City Hall in the southwest, whilst the equestrian statue to former Grand Duke William II, after whom the square is named, is the prominent feature of the eastern half. Much of the square is ringed with trees, narrowing the open area (particularly around the statue).

The Beauty Of Luxembourg
Luxembourg is a tiny country in Central Europe which is surrounded on all sides by countries. Luxembourg's weather is characterized by a pleasant coolness in summer and cold winter months, but not too much. Heavy rains falling in the winter, and sometimes even in summer.
Luxembourg, as a country surrounded by three powerful European countries, is influenced quite a bit of the culture of each one of them, but also manages to maintain, however, a local tradition. It has important museums, as the most important ones are located in its capital: the National Museum of History and Art, the Museum of History of Luxembourg City, Museum of Modern Art and the National Museum of Military History.
Some of the world's most important artists came from Luxembourg: Painters Joseph diameter and Michelle Jarus and photographer Edward pads. In addition, Luxembourg was announced today as the capital of European culture twice: first in 1995 and then in 2007.
Luxembourg is known in Europe as the leader in terms of radio, television and production companies. In addition, it is also for home service provider's main European satellite Germany and the United Kingdom.

LUXEMBOURG: Vianden town
The town of Vianden lies on the Our river, near the border between Luxembourg and Germany.
It is known for its impressive castle and beautiful location in the Our valley.
Many people visit Vianden to wander through its hilly, historic streets or as a centre for walking, camping or cycling in the north of Luxembourg.
During the summer months, a chairlift operates from the banks of the river in the lower part of the town taking you high above the castle with magnificent views over the landscape.
Vianden is also remembered as the last place in Luxembourg to be freed from the Germans in World War II in February 1945 when the Americans completed Luxembourg's liberation.

10 Things To Do In Luxembourg City | Top Attractions Travel Guide Travel Video Transcript:
Well, welcome to Luxembourg! The only Grand Duchy in the world. Over the next few days we're going to be exploring the capital of Luxembourg City and this is going to be a little city guide to show you some of the highlights.
Located smack dab in between Germany, France, and Belgium, the little Grand Duchy of Luxembourg can be easy to miss if you're not looking carefully, however, we're of the opinion that this is a beautiful destination that you'll definitely want to make time for. From picturesque neighbourhoods with cream coloured walls, to dazzling views of blue rooftops in the Old Town below, Luxembourg City is a charming destination that you'll want to add to your European itinerary.
So this hear is the Corniche and it is a pedestrian promenade which has been called the most beautiful balcony in all of Europe because it gets some spectacular views of the old town.
So we are now entering the Bock Casemates and apparently this was the old fortification of Luxemborg and it was known as the Gibraltar of the north.
This was once one of the most envied fortresses in all of Europe.
Right now we're visiting the Three Towers which are remnants of an old fortress.
We've been walking around a neighborhood called the Grund which is directly below the city center. And it is really picturesque and without tourists.
So behind me we have Saint Michael's church which is the oldest church in Luxembourg. The first church to be built on this spot dates back to the year 987, however, the church was destroyed, rebuilt, and renovated many times over the centuries.
The Palace houses the Grand Duke's office and during the summer months.
There is no shortage of museums in Luxembourg City, so we took some time to visit the National Museum of Art and History.
We are now looking at the Passerelle which is Luxembourg's very own viaduct.
So we are now standing in William Square which is a really popular spot on Sundays and Wednesdays because local vendors setup shop and they sell all kinds of things from fresh produce, to flowers, street snacks.
So final thoughts of Luxembourg. Alright, to wrap things up here it was a really cool city. It is the type of city that you can explore in just one or two days. A weekend type of destination because a lot of the attractions are nearby one another. And we just found it a very easy city to get around in on foot.
So as a little travel tip if you're planning on being in the city for a few days we really recommend the Luxembourg Card. This is what we used while we were here and it is really good for public transportation across the city. Across the country actually and you also get access to seventy different galleries, museums, historic attractions and it is not that expensive. I mean it depends on whether you get a family or an individual card but we really recommend it because we made a lot of use of it.

This is the city’s main train station (not to be mistaken with Brussels – Luxembourg train station in Brussels)
More than 80.000 passengers use the station daily.
The entrance with its impressive clock tower, is worth seeing as an example of Neo-Baroque style.
It is under the authority of the country’s railway company, Societe Nationale des Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois.
The station is located to the south of the city, about 1.5 km from the center.
Next to Gare de Luxembourg is Gare Centrale quai 13 where from flibco buses to Charleroi airport depart.
There is a taxi station in front of the train station.
Taxis usually charge about 10% more for night routes and even 25% on Sundays.
Luxembourg Airport is about 8 Km away, to the East.

Luxembourg, also known as Luxembourg City is the capital city of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and the country's most populous commune. Standing at the confluence of the Alzette and Pétrusse rivers in southern Luxembourg, the city lies at the heart of Western Europe, situated 213 km by road from Brussels, 372 km from Paris, and 209 km from Cologne. In the 2011 Mercer worldwide survey of 221 cities, Luxembourg was placed first for personal safety while it was ranked 19th for quality of living. It is a seat of several institutions of the European Union, including the European Court of Justice, the European Court of Auditors, the Secretariat of the European Parliament, the European Investment Bank, the European Investment Fund, and the European Stability Mechanism.
