10. Explore the old town
Wander the maze of narrow streets and simply enjoy the architecture. Built between the 12th and 14th centuries, this old town has a lot of character. From its decorated gates, to its orthodox and catholic churches, cozy squares, and Venetian palaces, every corner holds a story.

9. Walk the city walls
Covering about 4.5 kilometers or 3 miles, the thick walls were built to protect the town, which was an important naval and trading center. Today, the walls are crumbling in some sections and it isn’t possible to walk all the way around the Old Town. But there are still several parts that you can easily access, such as the Gurdić Bastion and the Kampana Tower.
8. Visit a museum
The old town of Kotor is home to a few interesting museums, such as the Cats Museum and the Maritime Museum.
7. Watch the sunset from the fortress
Above Kotor’s city walls, you can find old St. John’s fortress. You’ll have to walk 1,350 steps to get there. The best time to visit is in the early morning or an hour or two before sunset as it’s generally a bit cooler and the light is best for pictures. Find the trail entrance behind the Church of St. Mary Collegiate.
6. Cool down at Kotor beach
Kotor doesn’t have any long beaches, but small ones are scattered around the bay. The closest one is Kotor Beach, which can be found right outside the old town. Alternatively, head to Orahovac or Bajova Kula beach on the way to Perast.
5. Try Montenegrin wine
Kotor’s old town is filled with a variety of charming restaurants and bars where you can sample the local cuisine and wine. Some bars offer wine tastings where you can try indigenous Vranac wine, such as the Old Winery Wine Bar.
4. Explore nearby Perast
The Bay of Kotor is dotted with picturesque villages, but nearby Perast might be the most charming one.
3. Go on a boat tour in the bay
During a 3-hour tour you visit the church on the man-made island of Our Lady of the Rocks, pass through a cave where submarines used to be hidden, spot the old prison on Mamula Island, and swim in the magical Blue Cave.

2. Hike the Ladder of Kotor
The Ladder of Kotor is an old caravan trail that used to connect Kotor with the old capital of Montenegro. The switchback trail offers some breathtaking views of the Bay of Kotor.
1. Drive the serpentine road to Lovćen National Park
From Kotor, it’s a short 45 minute drive to Mt Lovćen National Park via a narrow serpentine road that takes you up to the mountains. Driving this road is a thrilling experience and you can stop at one of the many viewpoints.

Kotor / Montenegro is a fortified town in the Bay of Kotor. Located on the Adriatic coast, the bay is a fjord with limestone cliffs.
On this windy day we explore the winding streets and squares of this medieval old town. We see several Romanesque churches like the Kotor Cathedral, the walls and pretty squares before we head to the 2nd part of the walking tour - walking along the coast.
After 30 minutes we leave the old town and head north outside of town. We pass Kotor Beach and walk with strong winds up to the St. Matthias church.

Kotor Montenegro ???????? 4K Old Town Evening Walking Tour 2022
This is a walking tour in Kotor, Montenegro through the Old Town. The Kotor Old Town is included in UNESCO's World Heritage Site. This video is one of my favorite videos. I didn't really have a plan but as soon as I started and felt the atmosphere of the evening, the walking route appeared on it's own. Throughout the video you get the sense of the vibe with lovely music playing all through the Old Town and people from all parts of the world just enjoying the evening. There was even a concert towards the end and as well as two locals jumping off the roofs at the southern entrance of the Old Town. Sit back, relax grab a drink and enjoy the walk.

KOTOR, Montenegro ???????? - Old Town and Castle Hike - 4K 60fps (UHD)
Kotor, Montenegro is a coastal town popular with tourists visiting the country. Located in the scenic Bay of Kotor, the medieval Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We start our Kotor tour right there in the old town center at Cathedral of Saint Tryphon (built in 1166). From there we walk all around the old town. For the second half of he video we head up to the castle Kotor.
The Castle of San Giovanni (built around the 5th century) overlooks Kotor from a hilltop. To reach the castle remains, we'll climb over a thousand steps. The hike is a nice exercise as you'll also hear from my huffing and puffing. There is an entrance fee of €8 (as of 2022-23) yet the hike surely is one of the best activities when in Kotor.
At last we are rewarded with views of the Bay of Kotor and end our walking tour.

Another “must do” when visiting this settlement is to conquer the Walls of Kotor, walk up 1350 stairs, and capture some of the most iconic photos of the Old Town Kotor from San Giovanni fortress at the top.
