A Guide to Korcula, Croatia

The island of Korcula is most famously known for its Old Town namesake Korcula Town.

This stunning town is surrounded by walls and designed with a myriad of laneways in a fishbone formation to protect the town and residents from winds. This makes for an interesting and unforgettable wander of all the streets with hidden gems around every corner!

With many attractions found in this town, our Korcula Tour video uncovers the Cathedral of St. Mark in the town centre, catches local performers and live music dotted around, and discovers the rumoured birthplace of Marco Polo including the house of Marco Polo Museum.

The local food scene is just as outstanding with Korcula specialities discoverable such as a local grape known as Grk.

Our Korcula Tour isn’t complete without seeking out Massimo’s Cocktail Bar. Easily missed, this turret-turned-bar offers a unique drink delivery system atop of Zakerjan tower providing panoramic views of the town and sea.

THE BEST ISLAND IN CROATIA - KORCULA Home of MARCO POLO and BEAUTIFUL SANDY BEACHES

THE BEST ISLAND IN CROATIA- KORCULA Home of MARCO POLO and BEAUTIFUL SANDY BEACHES

In this video we head off in our little hire car from Dubrovnik to Orebic to get the ferry across to the Island of Korcula.

We arrive in Korcula and start by exploring the little Old Town that has a perfectly positioned Bell Tower so we climb it to get a panoramic view of the island.

Then we head off to find some lunch before checking out the birth place of the famous world traveller Marco Polo… although there is some historical debate over whether he really was born there but it’s what Korcula is famous for and they’re pretty proud of it.

We head back to the car and make our way over to the other side of Korcula Island to spend the afternoon on a sandy beach called Pržina. It’s rare to find sandy beaches in Croatia, they’re all pebbly so we were super excited as we love a sandy beach and this one was dreamy. Soft sand, peaceful and not too touristy, watch out for the rocks in the sea though maybe bring reef shoes or you might end up like Craig did in the out-takes!

Travel Guide - Korcula town - Croatia - Things to Do in Korcula town & Top Attractions

Discover with us the most amazing things to do in Korcula town and Top Korcula town attractions.
Hvar town is the largest settlement on the Dalmatian Island of the same name. It is in an enchanting bay surrounded by high hills with breathtaking views. The city has a long and vital history as a center of commerce and culture on the Adriatic. Part of the Venetian Empire from the 13th to the 18th centuries, the village was a substantial naval base.
The massive Spanish fortress of Hvar towers above the city, and in the past, it played a significant role in the defense of not only the city and the port but the entire area. Its construction began in 1278 when Hvar was under the rule of the Venetians. The complex forms an impressive stronghold with the 13th-century city walls, which were later upgraded.
You can reach the top on foot up a steep but scenic climb on cobbled roads or choose a more accessible route - by car. Today, the fortress also houses a small museum with an amphora collection.
Time your visit to catch a breathtaking sunset and enjoy a mesmerizing view of Croatia's iconic coastline and historical town.
While strolling through the town, do not miss a visit to the harbor, which is also the main harbor of Hvar Island. It is one of the most popular destinations in the Croatian islands, both by land tourists and yachters. A wonderful promenade wanders past Mediterranean restaurants, bars, and charming coffee shops.
Right next to the harbor is the historic Main Square of Hvar, the largest square in Dalmatia and one of the largest squares in the whole country. This magnificent Renaissance-style area sprawls over 4,500 square meters, and you can find many beautiful places to try Croatian cuisine.
Be sure to try black risotto in local restaurants. Featured on almost every Dalmatian menu, this dish is much tastier than it sounds - or looks. Squid ink provides a distinctive coloring and satisfying taste, squid, mussels, and other meaty seafood ingredients.
The main square is also home to some of the island's most stunning buildings, such as the magnificent Cathedral of St. Stephen and its nice 17th-century bell tower. The building represents a harmonious synthesis of the Renaissance, manneristic and early Baroque styles. Altars and pulpits from the Gothic period dominate the interior of the three-aisled basilica.

KORCULA - CROATIA ???????? - 4K

From our holiday on Korcula Island, Croatia, filmed in July 2022.

Korčula - Paradise in Croatia!

Spent an amazing few days in Korčula! I had no idea what to expect, but it was my absolute favorite out of the 4 places in Croatia we visited. Obviously you can not see everything in a few days, but I did get a feel for the relaxed, chill vibes of this island. We stayed at an Airbnb right in the middle of the town which was nice. There are so many amazing buildings and alleys, incredible restaurants, and beautiful beaches. There is so much history as well if that is your thing. We took a water taxi to a few amazing islands in Korčula our 2nd day which was one of the highlights of the trip. Video coming soon! I absolutely love Korčula and I will definitely be back!

Korcula Town - CROATIA, Secluded Beach, Blato, Wine, Sword Dancing & More!

Korčula Croatia Island Hopping

This day was amazing! It was recommended we see more of Korčula by boat by the taxi driver that took us to the beach in the previous video. He made a call and reserved a taxi boat for us which picked us up minutes from our accommodations. Each place we visited was great for swimming and had amazing restaurants. We had fun day swimming, eating great food and drinking cold beers, which in my book couldn't get any better! We even hung out with some cool locals, don't miss the end! There many more beautiful places to see in Korčula which is why I want to visit again soon! And next time stay much longer than 3 days!

Was zu sehen
