Offering perhaps the most diverse range of dive sites, Komodo cruises have everything from macro subjects to pelagics, from drift dives over stunning reefs to night dives on black sandy slopes. In the Komodo National Park, now one of the new 7 wonders of nature, we dive over hot springs at an underwater volcano, listen to the fish boom at Castle Rock and meet the last living dinosaur.

Join Nadia and her team as they explore the underwater world of KOMODO, as well as a visit with the area's most famous reptile -- the KOMODO DRAGON! Book your next trip on our luxury liveaboard ASAP - while we still have space available!

Look out for the clip (around 1:30) when Nadia has a dragon walking along the path right next to her... it looks like it's posing for the camera! Then look out for the brightly coloured nudibranch eggs (at 2:33) ... Or just enjoy the stunning scenes of fish life (around 2:20 and 3:25) that make you want to grab your mask and jump straight in ... now!

Learn more about KOMODO here too:

This famous dive destination is located within the Coral Triangle, an area that boasts the world's highest marine biodiversity. Komodo's dive sites stretch from the warm waters of the Flores Sea in the north to the chillier waters down south in the Indian Ocean. The underwater terrain presents many contrasts, with sheer cliff walls, pinnacles, sandy flat bottoms, underwater plateaus, slopes, caves, swim-throughs and channels - all with differing colours, sizes and types of both hard and soft corals.

In Komodo, expect encounters with pelagics, such as manta rays, eagle rays, sharks, mola-mola (sunfish), tuna and even whales. Get your macro lens ready for unusual critters such as ornate ghost pipefish, different kinds of pygmy seahorses, rare clown frogfish, weird and wonderful nudibranchs (if lucky, the ridiculously cute Pikachu nudi), blue-ringed octopus, pipefish, scorpion leaf fish, coleman shrimp, boxer crabs, zebra crabs. Fill your memory cards with bumphead parrotfish, napoleon wrasse, juvenile batfish, stonefish, devilfish, seahorses, dragonets, turtles, cuttlefish, banded sea-snakes, snake eels, stargazers, slipper lobsters, fire-urchins and the aptly-named 'sea-apples' (a very colourful and round-shaped type of sea-cucumber).

Experience for yourself why this destination has been rated one of the world's greatest diving areas. You may be familiar with photos of the area, both topside and underwater, but nothing compares to experiencing this fascinating destination in person!

KOMODO DIVING WTF 2015

Diving in komodo national park with Grand Komodo LOB, September 2015.
Komodo island contains a beach with pink sand, one of only seven in the world. The sand appears pink because it is a mixture of white sand combined with red sand, formed from pieces of Foraminifera.
Komodo is one of the 17,508 islands that compose the Republic of Indonesia. The island is particularly notable as the habitat of the Komodo dragon, the largest lizard on Earth, which is named for the island. Geologically, Komodo Island and Rinca are part of Flores, separated from Sumbawa to the west by the Sape Strait. In the middle of the strait, the bottom drops to almost 300 metres.
The many islands and relatively shallow seas between Flores and Komodo's west coast mean very fast currents at tidal changes, especially when the higher tidal waters of the Pacific Ocean in the north flow through into the Indian Ocean to the south. The upwellings from the deep surrounding seas bring nutrients and plankton to keep these waters rich and well-fed, which makes perfect conditions for some spectacular scuba diving.

Komodo Island is also famous for its Komodo dragon monitor lizard, the largest lizard in the world. An alert and agile predator and scavenger that can reach 2.5 metres in length and 125 kg, they are known locally as 'Ora' and now about 1,100 inhabit the island and about half that live on nearby Rinca Island.

Manta Ray Education trips in Komodo National Park

Wicked Diving Komodo conducts Manta Ray education and research trips every month in Komodo. In conjunction with Manta Trust, we document all the Manta Encounters we have and add the photographs to the global database of sightings. Through this we help document the migratory, breeding and feeding patterns of Manta Rays in Indonesia (and beyond).
This work has helped contribute the massive Manta Ray protection zone in Raja Ampat as well as the recent CITES listing of Manta Rays as protected species.
