Arbat is a pedestrian zone in Almaty, Kazakhstan. It is located on Jibek Joly Street, between Abylai Khan Avenue and Nazarbayev Street. The zone features many stores such as TsUM, or Silk Way shopping mall and kiosks.

Arbat Street, also known as Zhybek Zholy Street, is a bustling shopping hub in Almaty. This pedestrian-friendly street spans from Abylaikhan Avenue to Furmanov Street and is best explored on foot. The area offers a diverse range of shopping options, including high-end branded stores such as Mango and Zara, as well as charming small shops.

TSUM Shop, a popular spot for locals to fulfill their daily needs, is a unique hybrid of a department store and a bazaar. As you stroll along the street, you'll also find a variety of cafes and restaurants, ranging from fine dining to local cuisine.

Adding to its charm, Arbat Street is adorned with fountains, live sculptures, and sculpture expositions. Local artists sell their masterpieces here, which make for great souvenirs. Street musicians and impromptu flash mobs also add to the lively atmosphere of the street.

Arbat Street was the first pedestrian zone in Almaty, created in the late 1980s, and it continues to be a vibrant hub of activity. In 2017, the zone underwent reconstruction and is now connected to Panfilov Street Promenade, featuring even more fountains. There are plans to extend the pedestrian area to Seyfullin Prospect in the future. Don't miss out on the lively and exciting atmosphere of Arbat Street!

Almaty-2 railway station:
Almaty-2 is one of the oldest train stations located in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The station serves around average attendance of about 5000 people. During the summer however, the capacity of people increases to 10,000. Located in the center of the city, it serves as the primary departure point for passengers in all directions, including internationally, which are mostly Russian cities such as Moscow, St. Petersburg and Ürümqi in China. Domestic destinations are Astana, Shymkent, Petropavlovsk, Atyrau, Zhezkazgan, Mangyshlak, and Uralsk.
During the first years of building the station, the construction site of the building was located on the Turksib Krasnogvardeysky tract in place of the furniture factory. After the suggestion of the engineer, Mukhamedzhan Tynyshpaev, the construction was moved to the street, Starokladbischenskuyu (now named Abylai Khan), where the old cemetery was located. The cemetery was removed and was replaced with a station square which in later years saw tram and trolleybus services. The area opened a new path for a new avenue of the capital of Kazakh SSR. Railway Station Square has its own little history. In 1954, the monument to Abay was installed to the square. Then in 1972, a monument to Kalinin was added; it was removed in 1992. Finally in 2000, a monument to Abylai Khan was installed that is still standing. Around the square, an area of residential and public buildings were built. Until 1941, the train station and station facilities were built to a standard project. During the beginning of World War II, the east side of the building was built. The sides of the buildings are semi-circular projection in the facade in terms of volumes with large window panes located in the entrance part of the building. The sculptural composition of male and female figures, symbolizing the success, industry, agriculture and the Soviet Union. Decorative objects were made by a Czech sculptor Bogomil Vahek exiled during Stalin years who lived in Almaty. All architects, engineers and designers of the station were eventually subsequently repressed and shot due to the effects of the Great Purge. In 1977, the building was reconstructed. With an addition construction of the west wing which included renovation of technology disorders, changing the interior and exterior of the building.

Kazakhstan/Almaty Panfilov Park Part 14

Welcome to my travelchannel. ☛☛☞☛
On my channel you can find more than 1000 films of almost 80 countries. See the playlist on my youtube channel.Enjoy!
Park of 28 Panfilov Guardsmen:
The Park of 28 Panfilov Guardsmen is a major park in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The park is located in east-central Almaty in the area surrounding Zenkov Cathedral. It is dedicated to and named after the Panfilov Heroes, 28 soldiers of an Almaty infantry unit who died fighting Nazi German invaders outside of Moscow in World War II. The group takes its name from Ivan Panfilov, the General commanding the 316th division which, in spite of heavy casualties, believed at that time managed to significantly delay the Germans' advance on the capital, buying time for the defenders of the city. An eternal flame commemorating the fallen of the Russian Civil War and the Great Patriotic War burns in front of the giant black monument of soldiers from all 15 Soviet republics.
Ascension Cathedral:
Designed by Andrei Pavlovich Zenkov in 1904, a cathedral was built entirely of wood with the belfry being erected on September 14, 1906. The inner structure of the cathedral was made in the artistic workshops of Moscow and Kiev. The iconostasis was painted by N. Khludov. The cathedral in considerably survived the 1911 earthquake. After the Russian Revolution the cathedral was used to house the Central State Museum of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic. From 1930 to 1940 it was used by important public organizations. The first radio transmitters in Almaty were situated in the cathedral's belfry. Restoration work on the cathedral began in 1973 and lasted until 1976. In May 1995 control of the cathedral was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church, and after additional restoration work it was reopened for religious services in 1997.

Bishkek:
Bishkek, is the capital and largest city of Kyrgyzstan (Kyrgyz Republic). Bishkek is also the administrative centre of the Chuy Region. The province surrounds the city, although the city itself is not part of the province, but rather a province-level unit of Kyrgyzstan.
In 1991 the Kyrgyz parliament changed the capital's name to Bishkek.Bishkek is situated at an altitude of about 800 meters (2,600 ft), just off the northern fringe of the Kyrgyz Ala-Too range, an extension of the Tian Shan mountain range. These mountains rise to a height of 4,855 meters (15,928 ft) and provide a backdrop to the city. North of the city, a fertile and gently undulating steppe extends far north into neighboring Kazakhstan. The Chui River drains most of the area. Bishkek is connected to the Turkestan-Siberia Railway by a spur line.
Bishkek is a city of wide boulevards and marble-faced public buildings combined with numerous Soviet-style apartment blocks surrounding interior courtyards. There are also thousands of smaller privately built houses, mostly outside the city centre. Streets follow a grid pattern, with most flanked on both sides by narrow irrigation channels, watering innumerable trees to provide shade in the hot summers.
State Historical Museum, located in Ala-Too Square, the main city square.
State Museum of Applied Arts, containing examples of traditional Kyrgyz handicrafts
Frunze House Museum
Statue of Ivan Panfilov in the park near the White House.
An equestrian statue of Mikhail Frunze stands in a large park (Boulevard Erkindik) across from the train station.
The train station was built in 1946 by German prisoners of war and has survived since then without further renovation or repairs; most of those who built it perished and were buried in unmarked pits near the station.
The main government building, the White House, is a huge, seven story marble block and the former headquarters of the Communist Party of the Kirghiz SSR
At Ala-Too Square there is an independence monument where the changing of the guards may be watched.Osh bazaar, west of the city centre, is a large, picturesque produce market.

Almaty Zhybek Zholy (Pedestrian)Street-Bazaar:
Up until 1917 Zhibek Zholy was called Trade street, business street, or a shopping street. There were a lot of merchant houses, and there were a lot of fairs and exhibitions. And even today, after almost 100 years the street has a spirit of that time. On the weekends artisans gather on this street and present their handmade products. By the way, it is the first street with a stone road.

This part of the street Zhibek Zholy is called Arbat. Just as in Moscow, Arbat is the main shopping street of the city. Here you can find whatever you want. There is a high fashion shops, art galleries, cafes and restaurants. At the west end of Arbat, on the right side is the Central Department Store. This was the first shopping mall of such a level that has remained since the Soviet period. The building was built in 1961 and was reconstructed in 2014.

There was a suggestion to rename the current existing name for the park due to the July 2015 publications by the State Archive of the Russian Federation that the military newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda had concocted the story's details of the heroic story. However, there are no considerations by the city officials in renaming the park.

Kazakhstan/Almaty (Kazakh National Conservatory) Part 29

Welcome to my travelchannel. ☛☛☞☛
On my channel you can find more than 1000 films of almost 80 countries. See the playlist on my youtube channel.Enjoy!
Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory carries out training of professional musicians for more than seven decades. Compared with conservatories of Europe and Russia, the age of our Conservatory is insignificant, but according to event-richness and dynamics of development, its history has concentrated in itself the whole era. The history does not reflect only the formation of the first creative higher education institution, formation of a whole system of professional music education, but also the history of country – the Kazakh SSR, and later of sovereign Kazakhstan.

On April 30, 1944 the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR has obliged to organize Conservatory in Alma-Ata. In compliance with this order, on July 24, 1944 the Council of People's Commissars of the Kazakh SSR under the chairmanship of N. Undasynov (since October 1, 1944) has decided to organize Conservatory on the basis of musical and choreographic combination (nowadays Almaty musical college of P. I. Tchaikovsky), which subsequently reorganized into Alma-Ata Conservatory modeled on the Moscow and Leningrad conservatories. In 1945 the Conservatory was named after the outstanding Kazakh folk composer of the 19th century Kurmangazy Sagyrbaeva. Alma-Ata Conservatory played a leading role in this contradictory and difficult process. From the first days of its existence, Conservatory’s activity was conducted in two directions: determined by influence of the European and Kazakh national musical heritage. These two branches of Conservatory always developed harmoniously and were equivalent.

Until recently, the Conservatory was the only higher educational institution of the country, so that it is proud of its achievements. Today, Conservatory alumni work virtually in every artistic troupe of the country. Its students and teachers adequately present domestic art in the USA, the countries of Western and Eastern Europe, Russia, China, Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, Iran, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, and etc.

Tour of Almaty, the largest city in Kazakhstan

Almaty is the largest city in Kazakhstan, and also its financial and cultural centre. It is a very green city with a lot of parks, making it a very pleasant place to walk. You will also be treated with the view of the Trans-Ili Alatau Mountains; the snow cap is really impressive! There is a lot of Soviet buildings, in case brutalism suits your taste. Food here is amazing. Kazakh cuisine is really flavorful; my personal favourites are manti, plov, shashlik and bayirsaq. I definitely would come back to this country again!
