Kinshasa is the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It faces Brazzaville, the capital of the neighbouring Republic of Congo, which can be seen in the distance across the wide Congo River.

Kinshasa has the largest population of any city in Africa with a population of 14 million within the City limits, and is also the 2nd largest French-speaking city in the world behind Paris. After decades of armed conflicts imposed by neighbouring countries, the infrastructures of the once leading modern African city are now being remarkably restored. Chinese companies are involved in numerous projects of reconstruction throughout the city.

Backpacking Congo - Road trip through the Democratic Republic of the Congo
4000 km in 1 month - a road trip through eastern Congo in November 2019. (truck, boat and mototaxi) From the southern bordertown Kasumbalesa to Lubumbashi and Likasi, then all the way to the north: Ngoya, Manono, Ankoro, Kabalo, Kongolo, Kasongo, Kindu, Ubundu, Kisangani, Lubutu, Walikale, Goma, Idjwi Island and Bukavu. DRC is such a great country, especially the remote areas in eastern Congo are worth to visit. If you like adventurous travel, this is the place to be!

I live for a mounth in Kinshasa to study decentralized water systems (decentralization of water management because the state water supply company is deficient) called ASUREP.
Our role has been to question the local populations and the managers of these mini-networks to analyze it and to determine an ideal model for the distribution of water in the Congolese megacity.
Thank you to everyone who helped me adapt to a total unknown environment. I wanted to share some neutral sequences of my trip, here they are.
