Falling In Love With Abidjan! Côte d'Ivoire! Africa, you won't see on TV #Africa #Ep3

#Abidjan is a city on the southern Atlantic coast of Côte d'Ivoire, in West Africa. It's the country’s major urban center, with skyscrapers rising above the Ébrié Lagoon. Modern landmarks include La Pyramide, a ziggurat-like building. St. Paul's Cathedral is a swooping structure tethered to a massive cross. Artwork, cultural relics and handicrafts are on display at Le Musée des Civilisations de Côte d'Ivoire.

Street Food in Côte d’Ivoire!! ???????? Insane VERTICAL BBQ in Abidjan (West Africa)!!

12 hour Ivorian street food tour in West Africa!
???? T-shirts:
???? Ghost Chili:

ABIDJAN, COTE D’IVOIRE - Welcome to the beautiful country of Côte d’Ivoire (also known as Ivory Coast), in the heart of West Africa. Abidjan is the biggest city, and home to some incredibly tasty street bbq - including a unique vertical bbq and some of Africa’s fastest BBQ! Today we’re going on a full Ivorian street food tour!

A huge thank you to my friend Mo Soumahoro from Belle Côte d’Ivoire ( for arranging my trip and setting up everything!

1. Breakfast - we started early in the morning and headed for a rare dish of steamed corn with thick sour milk porridge. It was unique and very hearty in the morning.

2. Plakali - One of the most beloved Ivorian foods is plakali, a thick stew of crabs and seafood with cow skin and okra. It’s a dish with so many components and texture and absolutely incredible.

3. Fried snacks - When you’re in Côte d’Ivoire you don’t want to miss all the delicious fried snack you’ll find all over Abidjan. It was awesome to hang out with Yasmine Fofana (

4. Pique chicken and fish and Ivorian choukouya - From this entire Abidjan street food tour, probably my favorite dish was the pique chicken and fish and the West African choukouya. The chicken and fish were skewered then marinated in spices and pepper then grilled in a sandbox - vertical bbq style. It kept the meat juicy and full of flavor. They also made delicious choukouya, where the chicken is first grilled, chopped, and mixed with onions and seasoning. It’s absolutely amazing.

5. Market + sandwich - Next up we continued on this West African street food tour at the market to see some local ingredients, and a tasty onion and egg sandwich.

6. Brochette and bread - Another classic Abidjan street food is grilled small skewers of meat stuffed into French bread with kankankan. It’s one of the fastest grilling techniques I’ve seen, and unbelievably tasty.

7, Grilled meat ending - Finally we had one more stop to eat more grilled meat, choukouya. Can’t get enough!

7 Things NOT To Do in The Ivory Coast

Cote d'Ivoire or Ivory Coast is located on the west coast of Africa and is not at all what you'd expect from a sub-Saharan desert country. It is the most bio-diverse country in west-Africa and has beautiful coastlines, mountains, ruins, forests, and even a cathedral. In 60 years of independence from the French, it has suffered civil wars, military coups, and shady elections but is now enjoying a certain, if vulnerable, stability. Even so, there are some things to bear in mind before traveling. Here are 7 Things NOT To Do In Ivory Coast!

1. Money
Don't forget to bring cash as well as your visa card. although in large towns and cities ATMs are available they are generally unreliable and often have very long queues. Be sure to have euros or USD on you, which you can change into West African Francs as needed. If you change money with money changers always exchange small amounts, know the exchange rate and check the notes carefully!

2. Don't go in the summer!
Though it may seem like a good idea to go on holiday in the summer. Ivory coast's rainy season starts in June and runs through to October. In this season National parks tend to be closed and roads can be washed out or impassable making travel a lot more complicated.

3. Don't forget to get a visa!
To be able to travel to Ivory coast, you need a visa! getting it upon arrival isn't possible so you need to make sure you get it beforehand. You can apply for it at your nearest Ivorian consulate via mail, or in person, or if you're planning on visiting neighboring countries you can apply for it in one of Ivory coast's embassies there. Bear in mind that it will take at least a few days so it could be that you're stuck in that country waiting for your visa.

4. Don't expect cheap accommodation!
Don't expect hostels or Airbnb or guesthouses, the main form of accommodation in Ivory coast is small to medium-sized hotels, which you won't have to book in advance but you can expect to pay first-world prices for third world service.

5. Don't forget to learn un peu de Francais!
There isn't a traveler's scene in Ivory coast, aside from french package tour visitors, the majority of tourism is local and therefore not many people speak English. French is the native tongue so be sure to learn some basics that could get you out of a situation difficile!

6. Don't forget your Passport!
Always carry your passport or at least a copy of the visa page and the photo page. There are a lot of checkpoints on the road and you'll be expected to show your passport and sometimes asked to exit your vehicle and talk to the police. be polite and compliant to avoid any hassle.

7. Don't expect it to be easy!
If you're traveling to Ivory coast independently, don't expect it to be easy. West Africa isn't like South Africa, it's less developed, rougher, and has fewer amenities. you can expect challenges, complications, and for things to go wrong. It won't be relaxing or easy, it will, however, be fun!

Which country should we do next?

CORRUPT POLICE in Ivory Coast | Motorcycle World Tour | Africa #29

I leave behind the paradisal Rastafarian beach and set off for Burkina Faso, the visa is running out and I have to hurry... I should have left a few days earlier because now it's my turn to apply for and manage the visas that are needed for Burkina Faso. Lots of motorbike, lots of beating and a lot of thrashing.

How Safe Is Ivory Coast for Travel?

Full safety review:

Côte d’Ivoire, also usually known as Ivory Coast is a country located in West Africa with its south-facing the North Atlantic Ocean coast.

It shares its borders with Ghana to the east, Liberia to the west, Guinea to the northwest, Mali to the north, and Burkina Faso to the northeast.

Ivory Coast is the place to visit if you want to experience really West African villages, beaches, and take amazing photos of African nature in its safaris.

Overall generally speaking, safety in Ivory Coast is not one of a high level. There is petty crime, violent crime, political differences, and you should generally be very careful when traveling to this country.

Ivory Coast dreams of diversification - focus

Ivory Coast is witnessing impressive growth, with a GDP rate of eight percent last year, according to the World Bank.

In 2016 it was Africa's fastest growing economy, but 70 percent of its population still works in the agricultural sector.

It's the world's biggest exporter of cocoa beans, but if it's to continue growing at such a frenetic pace it will have to diversify. It's these economic paradoxes that the government hopes its four year National Development Plan (NDP), which began in 2016,…
