Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Visa requirements: Americans and Canadians will not need visa for Brazil. This was CONFIRMED today, April 10th. The administration of Brazil's president Lula has has tried several times to introduce a visa requirement for a handful of countries, which has repeatedly been postponed.
The visa requirement has now been postponed until April 10, 2025. (But my guess is still that it will be completely abandoned).
What are the rules to visit Brazil for an American, Canadian and Australian? After major delays and fear of huge costs the administration of Brazil's president Lula is now ready to drop the visa requirement.
As of April 10 2024, people from USA, Canada and Australia, will not need to apply for a visa to visit Brazil, and the current e-Visa system will probably be terminated.
Brazil's new e-visa has been struggling with major delays – often several months – and many tourists have been afraid not to be accepted in time for their trip.
The revenue expectations from the visa procedures is projected to be much lower than the money American tourists are bringing if they are not haltered by visa.

This date reflects a one-year postponement announced on April 9, 2024.

When traveling around Brazil be ready for the Buses! Here are some helpful tips for Bus Travel in Brazil.
1. you can buy some tickets online, but without an official Brazilian government number you may not be able to buy tickets online.
2. There are a number of bus companies in Brazil and they serve different destinations. Make sure you look for bus companies that specifically focus on travel to where you want to go.
3. There are different levels of bus service in Brazil. The more you pay, the better the service.
4. Always have your ticket with you, they check it multiple times.
5. Keep all important stuff with you on the bus. Big backpacks go under the buy, but have a small day pack with your tickets, passport, snacks and drinks with you.
6. Bring screwtop bottles of drinks as the rides can get bumpy.
7. The buses are relatively on time, but do not push it with tight connections if you are looking to get a flight as traffic can be crazy in Brazil.

In this video I'm going to tell you the changes and restrictions to travel in brazil during 2020 because of coronavirus. I'm gonna tell you what documents you need to enter in Brazil. Most of the internationl airports are open (rio de janeiro and sao paulo) and you will need a valid visa (if brazil requires a VISA for people from your country) and prove of your health insurance that cover coronavirus for the durantion of your stay. No covid test or quarentine is required.
