WATCH THIS BEFORE GOING TO THE BALTIC CAPITALS! (TALLINN, RIGA, & VILNIUS)
We had an epic time road tripping through the Baltic capitals of Vilnius, Riga, and Tallinn. Our week long Baltic road trip includes our favorite sights in each of the three Baltic countries of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. We also give our recommendations for must try Baltic food.
After making our way from Poland, we entered our first Baltic country Lithuania to explore its capital of Vilnius. The Old Town of Vilnius is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to our first must see sight, Cathedral Square. We also recommend visiting Literary Street, and the Republic of Užupis. Our recommendations for Lithuanian cuisine are Leičiai for Vilnius mead and local beer, and Loky's for Lithuanian beetroot soup and boiled potato zeppelins.

After leaving Lithuania, the next Baltic country on our road trip was Latvia. It was only a 3 1/2 hour drive from Vilnius to the Latvian capital of Riga. Our first must see sight in Riga is the House of the Blackheads. We also recommend seeing the Cat House, and visiting the Black Magic Bar to try Riga Black Balsam. For Latvian cuisine, our recommendation is Key to Riga. We recommend trying the Latvian national dish (grey peas with bacon) with a local beer.

The northernmost and final Baltic state we visited was Estonia. It’s about a 4 hour drive from Riga, Latvia to Estonia’s Capital of Tallinn. Our first must see sight in Tallinn, Estonia is Toompea Hill in the Old Town. Toompea Hill is home to Toompea Castle and Estonia’s parliament building. We also recommend the Danish King’s Garden where you can see the well-preserved medieval wall. Finally, visit the hipster area of Kalamaja. To experience medieval dining in Tallinn, we recommend the Third Dragon and Olde Hansa.

The word Expedition is used in all our video titles as this word means promptness or speed in doing something, with a particular purpose, especially that of exploration and this fits in perfectly with our plan to not only stay out of the UK for as long as possible, but to sample each country we visit to see if we want to come back for longer in our future travels.

15 Basic Things To Know Before Visiting Lithuania
Unfortunately most people around the world don’t know much about Lithuania. In some ways this is a blessing - since the beautiful old towns and city centres of the country are never too busy in the same way as perhaps London, Paris, and Amsterdam. While its nice for residents and the tourists that DO know about Lithuania, I’m sure the country’s tourism organizations would love to change this.

Tallinn to Riga: First Thoughts on Latvia
We're travelling from Tallinn, Estonia to Riga, Lativa on the most comfortable bus ever. The trip is only 4.5 hours and flies by. We sit in the upgraded section of the bus, curtained off at the back, where the seats are large and come with raisable foot rests, we have a little desk to work at, individual tablets and headphones with entertainment, free wifi, complimentary granola bars, bottled water, and unlimited hot beverages like coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Score! We arrive in Riga and have a funny experience trying to get a Yandex Taxi, but eventually make it to our Airbnb. We head to the local grocery store to stock up on essentials and find that Latvia is cheaper than Estonia. On our first night in Riga, we head to the beautiful Old Town and find a restaurant to have dinner where the food is weighed to determine the price. A great introduction to Latvia!

A Bit About Us: Stefan (Dutch) and Marie (Filipino) met in Bangkok, Thailand about 7 years ago. They fell in love, opened a successful fitness business and got married all in the same year!
6 years, 1 cat and 2 thriving fitness studios later they decided to sell it all and follow their dream to travel around the world on their motorbike.
Their journey started on the 3rd of June 2017 from Den Haag, Netherlands and they have been on the road ever since.
