For almost 30 centuries—from its unification around 3100 B.C. to its conquest by Alexander the Great in 332 B.C.. ancient Egypt was the preeminent civilization in the Mediterranean world. From the great pyramids of the Old Kingdom through the military conquests of the New Kingdom,

Egypt’s majesty has long entranced archaeologists and historians and created a vibrant field of study all its own: Egyptology. The main sources of information about ancient Egypt are the many monuments, objects, and artifacts that have been recovered from archaeological sites, covered with hieroglyphs that have only recently been deciphered.

The picture that emerges is of a culture with few equals in the beauty of its art, the accomplishment of its architecture, or the richness of its religious traditions.

RARE VIDEO inside a REAL Egyptian Tomb!!!!!!

In Saqqara, you can venture underground into the world of the dead. Because of its proximity to the ancient capital, this was the prime burial location for kings and nobles. This is the tomb of Ti, a high ranking official during the fifth dynasty. And although the vast majority of these tombs were ransacked by grave robbers and stripped of their treasures before officially being discovered, there's still a nightmarish exhilaration for those brave enough to explore them.

The Great Pyramid of Giza Walking Tour: The Seven Wonder of the World | Cairo, Egypt | 4K

The Giza pyramids complex Walking Tour 2023
The pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx are among the most popular tourist destinations in the world, and indeed already were even in Roman times. Each of these spectacular structures served as the final resting place of a king of the 4th Dynasty (c.2613–2494 BC). The Great Pyramid of Giza was built for king Khufu (c.2589–2566 BC), and the other two for Khafre and Menkaure, his son and grandson. Khufu’s pyramid is both the oldest and largest of the three, and the first building to exceed it in height would not be built for another 3,800 years. Although the three pyramids dominate the plateau, they are in fact surrounded by many other monuments. Every king’s pyramid was just one element albeit the most important of a larger complex that included smaller, subsidiary, queens’ pyramids; an additional one that acted as a second, symbolic, tomb for the king, called a satellite pyramid.

The Best Tombs To Visit In The Valley Of The Kings? | Family Travel In Egypt

The Valley of the Kings contains dozens of tombs but your ticket only gives entry to 3. Today we visit one of the most popular tombs in the Valley, one of the tombs that require an extra ticket and show you which is our kids' favorite, and why.

New to our channel? We are GoingGoing.BackBack, a slow-traveling, worldschooling, plant-based, mixed-race family of 5 from Australia and the United States of America.

We have been traveling full-time for more than 3 years! You might find our family spending a year quietly exploring the hidden gems of Luxor, Egypt, or 3 months living at an action-packed theme park.

Our full-time family travel journey started in 2019 when we had 3 kids under 5, a new minivan, and a whole house full of things.

With our eldest due to start school a few months later, we decided it was “now or never” to take an extended vacation and so we set off to explore the world - and be back in time for our son’s first day of school.

We were several months into our trip - and pretty charmed by the slow travel lifestyle - when the pandemic hit and schools around the globe shut down.

These events confirmed the idea that was already brewing in our minds - that there was no better classroom than the one our kids were already in - the world.

We sold the minivan, gave away everything that couldn’t fit in a suitcase, and became a full-time traveling family.

Join us as we very slowly travel the world, GoingGoing.BackBack.

CAIRO! - DAY 5| CAIRO MUSEUM! Ancient KiNGS COVERED in GOLD!!!

#Egypt #Emirates #Covidpandemic #solofemaletraveler #Cairo #Egyptian Museum #timelapspyramidsunset #travel

My Instagram

After getting notified that my job will be ending on December 25th., I decided to take advantage of the airline tickets and benefits and use them one last time to travel somewhere.
After searching for a country that has opened it's boarders for tourist, and also giving tourist visa, I decided to go to Egypt! On a soul searching trip all by myself!

So we are at day four in my SOLO travels across Egypt. Today I'm flying back to Cairo from Aswan, where I will meet my main tour guide Mina. First off I need to do the PCR test. Because I need a PCR test to go back to Dubai.

Mina's tour company

Then I go to visit the National Egyptian museum. Where I see all the amazing artifacts of the Egyptian History. And I finally get to see King Tutankhamun's artifacts! Including his famous golden mask! That is made out of 11kgs of pure gold! Can you believe it! And then his solid gold coffin!! Which is 110kgs of pure gold! It's just hard to believe it all.

King Tutankhamun was not famous for being a great ruler or for building great things. He was actually just a boy when he died at the age of 19. But he is famous because his is the only grave in the valley of the kings that was found completely intact by grave robbers. King Tutankhamun ruled Egypt as pharaoh for 10 years until his death at age 19, around 1324 B.C.
On November 26, 1922 British archaeologist Howard Carter broke the seal and entered the boy pharaoh’s tomb, which had remained sealed for more than 3,200 years.

And I can see why grave robbers are so eager to get into these tombs. Its covered in layers and layers of GOLD!! Everything is either made in gold or covered in gold! Gold upon gold upon gold! It's an incredible sight to see! I can't help but marvel at the wealth of these ancient kings and how elaborately their tombs were decorated.

Next I go to my hotel in Cairo. This time I booked a HOTEL called Pyramid Edge. Now you guys know that I'm not that fussy with where I stay. As long as I have a clean bed and a clean bathroom I'm happy. But this one time I decided to make an exception. I wanted a room with a very particular quality. So because of that I ended up booking, not a ingle room, not a double room, but a deluxe room aaaaal to myself! And paid 64$ for it!!!! Waaaay over my budget! But it's for a very very good reason! And you'll see why.. And I can't tell you enough how incredibly happy I was at this point! It was totally worth the 64$ paid.

Stay tuned till the very end to see some time-lapse of the sunset with the pyramids and also the Pyramids Sound & Light show. Which looked amazing!

The 6 Earliest Human Civilizations | Exploring Ancient History | Info Bites

The 6 Earliest Human Civilizations | Exploring Ancient History | Info Bites

Modern civilizations exist on every continent except Antarctica, but most researchers believe that civilization began between 4000 and 3000 B.C. in Iraq, Egypt, India, China, Peru, and Mexico.
Starting with Mesopotamia, these sophisticated cultures developed cultural and technological breakthroughs that survive today. “A great many of the details of modern life, not just in the Middle East and the West, but across the world, have origins that go back for thousands of years to the ancient cultures in their respective regions,” says Amanda Podany, author and history professor emeritus at California State Polytechnic University.
Here are six early civilizations and their legacies.
1. Mesopotamia, 4000-3500 B.C.
Mesopotamia—Iraq, Kuwait, and Syria—is the birthplace of civilization. Despite near-constant warfare, the Tigris-Euphrates culture made significant advances in reading, astronomy, agriculture, law, mathematics, architecture, and more. Babylon, Ashur, and Akkad were the first urban cities.
“Mesopotamia is the earliest urban literate civilization on the globe—and the Sumerians, who established the civilization, established the ground rules,” says Kenneth Harl, author, consultant, and Tulane University history professor emeritus. “Those who can research and write run civilization and everyone else does the grunt work.”
The Code of Hammurabi was written in cuneiform. The base 60 numeric system spawned the 60-second minute, 60-minute hour, and 360-degree circle. Babylonian astrology first divided the year into 12 periods named after constellations—what the Greeks would later call the zodiac.
Persia invaded Mesopotamia in 539 B.C. Centuries of instability followed.
“Within the three millennia in which ancient Mesopotamia flourished, innumerable individual kingdoms came and went, and a few empires rose and fell for various reasons,” says Podany, author of the upcoming Weavers, Scribes, and Kings: A New History of the Ancient Near East. But at its core, the civilization was recognizably the same from roughly 3500 BC to 323 BC—and, many would argue, beyond that. The culture was stable but the territory rarely unified.”
2. Ancient Egypt, 3100 B.C.
Ancient Egypt, one of the most idealized civilizations, ruled for over 3,000 years. The civilization, which once stretched from Syria to Sudan along the fertile Nile River, is most renowned for its pyramids, tombs, mausoleums, and mummification of corpses.
Empires of the Steppes: How the Steppe Nomads Forged the Modern World author Harl argues Egypt's utilization of labor for architectural projects like the pyramids was unmatched. He thinks the capacity to gather 100,000 men to build the huge pyramid in 2600 B.C. is unmatched.
He adds that Egyptians excelled in agriculture and medicine. They also created beautiful sculpture and art.
Egyptians left enormous writing and mathematics systems. The pyramids and other constructions were designed using the cubit, a forearm-length measurement. They created the 24-hour day and 365-day calendar. They developed the hieroglyphic graphic writing system and the ink-on-papyrus system. Alexander the Great captured the civilization in 332 B.C.
3. Ancient India, 3300 B.C.
Harl states Hinduism was developed in ancient India, where religion, literature, and architecture were valued. Reincarnation and the birthright caste system are still taught in the Upanishads, revered Hindu texts.
The Indus River Valley Civilization (modern-day India, Afghanistan, and Pakistan) was not war-torn like other ancient civilizations. Instead, historians and archaeologists point to sophisticated city planning with grids, homogeneous baked-brick dwellings, and drainage, sewage, and water delivery systems.

10 Unsolved Mysteries Of Ancient Egypt????|| (Part-2)

The mysteries of ancient Egypt are still as intriguing today as they were when they were first uncovered. In this video, I'll show you the seven biggest mysteries we've been able to solve and the three that still remain a mystery to us.
Ancient Egypt has fascinated the imagination since we first cleaned the sands away from the Great Sphinx. For the past two centuries, it has been an obsession for archaeologists and historians. It is a land whose mysteries we have spent years slowly unraveling. Even after all this time, though, there is still a great deal we don’t know.

The Unknown Queen Of Egypt (Part-2)::
In 2015, archaeologists stumbled upon the tomb of a woman who was buried among the great pyramids of the Old Kingdom of Egypt. In her tomb were inscriptions calling her both “the wife of the king” and “the mother of the king.” 4,500 years ago, when this woman was alive, she would have been one of the most important people on the planet. She would have had greater power than any other woman in the nation. And nobody has any idea who she is. Historians have dubbed her “Khentakawess III,” under the assumption that she was the daughter of Queen Kehntakawess II. They believe she may have been the wife of Pharaoh Neferefre and the mother of Pharaoh Mekahur—but they don’t really know. They’re just guessing. If her name was Khentakawess III, then there are no references to her whatsoever in anything we’ve ever found. Whoever she was, she was once an incredibly powerful woman, but today, she is little more than an enigma.

Some of the biggest discoveries of the ancient world still lie covered under the sands of Egypt, waiting to be revealed. More often than not, such revelations only yield yet more mysteries and unanswered questions.

History of Great Pyramid of Giza | The Mysteries and Majesty of Great Pyramid of Giza

History of Great Pyramid of Giza | The Mysteries and Majesty of Great Pyramid of Giza

No wonder we've been intrigued, totally baffled for more than 4000 years. And of all Egypt's pyramids, the Great Pyramid at Giza is by far the most mysterious. It's so imposing, so perfect you can see why many insist it couldn't possibly be the work of mere mortals.
Explore how the ancient Egyptians built the Great Pyramid, a tomb created for Pharaoh Khufu which took over 20 years to complete.
As soon as Pharaoh Khufu ascended the throne circa 2575 BCE, work on his eternal resting place began. The structure’s architect, Hemiunu, determined he would need 20 years to finish the royal tomb. But what he could not predict was that this monument would remain the world’s tallest manmade structure for over 3,800 years. Soraya Field Fiorio digs into the construction of the Great Pyramid.

The Great Pyramid of Giza #gizapyramid #place #shortvideo #shorts

The Great Pyramid of Giza[a] is the biggest Egyptian pyramid and the tomb of Fourth Dynasty pharaoh Khufu. Built in the early 26th century BC during a period of around 27 years,[3] the pyramid is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the only one to remain largely intact. It is the most famous monument of the Giza pyramid complex, in the Pyramid Fields of the Memphis and its Necropolis UNESCO World Heritage Site,[4] in Giza, Egypt. It is at the most Northern end of the line of the 3 Pyramids of Giza.
Initially standing at 146.6 metres (481 feet), the Great Pyramid was the tallest man-made structure in the world for more than 3,800 years. Over time, most of the smooth white limestone casing was removed, which lowered the pyramid's height to the present 138.5 metres (454.4 ft). What is seen today is the underlying core structure. The base was measured to be about 230.3 metres (755.6 ft) square, giving a volume of roughly 2.6 million cubic metres (92 million cubic feet), which includes an internal hillock.[5]

The dimensions of the pyramid were 280 royal cubits (146.7 m; 481.4 ft) high, a base length of 440 cubits (230.6 m; 756.4 ft), with a seked of 5+

palms (a slope of 51°50'40).

The Great Pyramid was built by quarrying an estimated 2.3 million large blocks weighing 6 million tonnes in total. The majority of stones are not uniform in size or shape and are only roughly dressed.[6] The outside layers were bound together by mortar. Primarily local limestone from the Giza Plateau was used. Other blocks were imported by boat down the Nile: White limestone from Tura for the casing, and granite blocks from Aswan, weighing up to 80 tonnes, for the King's Chamber structure.[7]

There are three known chambers inside the Great Pyramid. The lowest was cut into the bedrock, upon which the pyramid was built, but remained unfinished. The so-called[8] Queen's Chamber and King's Chamber, that contains a granite sarcophagus, are higher up, within the pyramid structure. Khufu's vizier, Hemiunu (also called Hemon), is believed by some to be the architect of the Great Pyramid.[9] Many varying scientific and alternative hypotheses attempt to explain the exact construction techniques.

The funerary complex around the pyramid consisted of two mortuary temples connected by a causeway (one close to the pyramid and one near the Nile), tombs for the immediate family and court of Khufu, including three smaller pyramids for Khufu's wives, an even smaller satellite pyramid and five buried solar barges.
Historically the Great Pyramid had been attributed to Khufu based on the words of authors of classical antiquity, first and foremost Herodotus and Diodorus Siculus. However, during the Middle Ages a number of other people were credited with the construction of the pyramid as well, for example Joseph, Nimrod or king Saurid.[10]

In 1837 four additional Relieving Chambers were found above the King's Chamber after tunneling to them. The chambers, previously inaccessible, were covered in hieroglyphs of red paint. The workers who were building the pyramid had marked the blocks with the names of their gangs, which included the pharaoh's name (e.g.: “The gang, The white crown of Khnum-Khufu is powerful”). The names of Khufu were spelled out on the walls over a dozen times. Another of these graffiti was found by Goyon on an exterior block of the 4th layer of the pyramid.[11] The inscriptions are comparable to those found at other sites of Khufu, such as the alabaster quarry at Hatnub[12] or the harbor at Wadi al-Jarf, and are present in pyramids of other pharaohs as well.[13][14]

Throughout the 20th century the cemeteries next to the pyramid were excavated. Family members and high officials of Khufu were buried in the East Field south of the causeway, and the West Field. Most notably the wives, children and grandchildren of Khufu, Hemiunu, Ankhaf and (the funerary cache of) Hetepheres I, mother of Khufu. As Hassan puts it: From the early dynastic times, it was always the custom for the relatives, friends and courtiers to be buried in the vicinity of the king they had served during life. This was quite in accordance with the Egyptian idea of the Hereafter.

The cemeteries were actively expanded until the 6th dynasty and used less frequently afterwards. The earliest pharaonic name of seal impressions is that of Khufu, the latest of Pepi II. Worker graffiti was written on some of the stones of the tombs as well; for instance, Mddw (Horus name of Khufu) on the mastaba of Chufunacht, probably a grandson of Khufu.[15]
