The Sahara is the biggest desert on earth. It takes its name from the Arab word for emptiness. In the dead heart of that emptiness there's a place called the Tenere. The Tenere takes its name from the Tuareg word for nothing. A nothing the size of France in the middle of an emptiness the size of the United States. It's no wonder the locals call this place The Land Of Fear”. David Adams retraces the trade routes of the people who call this stove-hot corner of the planet home.

The Desert Train: A Journey Through The Sahara To The Atlantic Coast | TRACKS

Mauritania, a 90 percent desert country in Africa's Sahel area that has been independent since 1960, is proud of its iron train that brings ferrous ore to the Atlantic.
Because the train is a unique starting point to discover a country, this documentary series renews the genre of rail travel by taking the time to meet the people, appreciate the stories and the daily life of the inhabitants met along the way.
From Mauritania to Sicily, from Mexico to the USA and Czech Republic, each episode takes us onboard an emblematic train, to meet those who live, eat and sleep and build projects there...
On the Rails also explores what surrounds this legendary means of transport: The villages, the breathtaking landscapes, the must-see tourist steps, the train stations, the countryside and the mountains crossed by the journalist.

Amazing SAHARA: Tassili n'Ajjer, Algeria [Amazing Places 4K]

Six days deep into the heart of the Sahara, into one of the most picturesque parts of the desert: Tassili n'Ajjer National Park of Algeria, near the borders with Libya and Niger.

I never thought I could be so overwhelmed by the beauty of the Sahara but for sure this was one of the most amazing trips I have ever had. I witnessed breathtaking Saharan landscapes changing endlessly before my eyes, and I hope that you too, watching the video, will get mesmerized by the amazing beauty of the desert - the tall dunes, the dramatic sandstone formations (pinnacles, buttes, arches), and the ancient rock art. More than 15,000 petroglyphs and paintings, some up to 8,000 years old, have been discovered in the area. The Tuareg people who have lived in the Sahara for millennia are nowadays happy to guide travelers through its secrets. Tassili n'Ajjer is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that deserves to be seen and admired.

TIMIMOUN OASIS: the veins of the SAHARA | WIDE | FULL DOCUMENTARY

In the south of Algeria, in the red desert of the Touat and Gourara regions, lies Timimoun the flamboyant, one of the most beautiful oases in Africa.

Here, the inhabitants devote their everyday life to the foggaras: a thousand-year-old irrigation system respectful of the environment, but threatened with disappearance by modern techniques that are much less so.

The gardeners of the desert who perpetuate this tradition are also known for their hospitality. In the Berber cultural tradition, a traveller is always made welcome.

MOROCCO TRAVEL DOCUMENTARY | The Grand Moroccan Roadtrip

► SUPPORT - 'Buy us a refill of diesel' -

Follow us on our Grand Moroccan Roadtrip!
From sweeping sand dunes to desolate highways of emptiness, bustling cities, and snow-covered peaks, we explored Morocco from north to south and east to west. Driving more than 10,000 km in eight weeks, our roadtrip included many unforgettable adventures. Watch as we explore remote landscapes, climb high peaks, battle breath-taking dust-topias (double pun, yeah!), and navigate the hectic bustle of Morocco’s major cities.

Thank you:
A big THANK YOU goes to Saloua Dabhi who helped tremendously with pronouncing Moroccan names. Additionally, we’d like to thank Christina Neumann ( for her insights into correctly identifying many bird species. And, of course, a big thank you to La Sultana ( for welcoming us to both of their wonderful properties.

Real Talk:
Despite our attempt at keeping our Morocco Travel Documentary as authentic as possible, you are still watching a highlight reel. When editing, we naturally tend to choose the most exciting videos. What you don’t see are the hours spent driving through less spectacular landscapes or some of the unpleasant challenges we faced.

Did we like everything about Morocco?
Far from it. As mentioned in the video, the huge amount of trash definitely dampened our experience. Additionally, we were surprised by the sheer number of begging children. During our trip, we counted a minimum of 500 children asking us for money or sweets. While Morocco undoubtedly has to combat poverty, this behavior often seemed less dictated by need and more by opportunity. Stopping and giving is an individual choice, of course, but when we didn’t we were regularly flipped off, kicked after, or hurled insults at.
In general, though, we perceived most Moroccans as extremely friendly and helpful. The best example is the three local men who selflessly helped us to change our ruptured tire. We cannot thank them enough.

Full Disclosure:
This trip was entirely self-funded. However, we did enjoy a two-night complimentary stay at La Sultana Oualidia and a two-night complimentary stay at La Sultana Marrakech.

Thar: The Incredible Living Desert | Deserts And Life

Deserts are on the move with the shifting winds and changing climate.
They are the most haunting of all the Earth’s landscapes. Sometimes we think of them as vast empty spaces that dwarf and test our human spirit. But that view is wrong in so many ways.
Deserts are full of colour and contrast. There are mountains and lagoons among the dunes and plains. They often teem with life and are rich in resources. Their peoples have remarkable qualities of ingenuity and endurance, wisdom and humour – their festivals and gatherings full of colour and energy.

The Bedul Bedouins of Petra | FULL DOCUMENTARY

In the early 80's, Jordan and Unesco expelled the humble people of the B'doul tribe from the ancient city of Petra to declare it as a world heritage site.

While hundreds of thousands of tourists from all over the world flock to the site, the local community seeks to rebuild their life on the tiny territory allocated for them.

This documentary film is a journey to the heart of the B'doul tribe of Petra. It is also an approach intended to be lucid about the inscription to the world heritage of one the most visited and sought-after destinations on earth.

Timimoun’s market is filled with colourful and fresh vegetables. One can hardly believe that they have been grown in the centre of the desert, in one of its unlikely gardens.
