Karbala, Iraq ➖ After spending a few amazing days in the holy city of Najaf, it was time to move on to the next Iraqi holy city. As always, I love to catch the local transport and so I asked the receptionist at my hotel how can I get to Karbala?. She gave me directions down the street, but unfortunately, it was 2 hours until the bus departed. So I got a local friendly taxi driver to get me to Karbala. Once I had arrived, it was time for a hotel hunt. After that was completed I explored the local area, ate some food, and of course, smoked some shisha!

WELCOME TO KARBALA, IRAQ. This is the site of the world's largest pilgrimage, where every October, over 15 MILLION Shia Muslims walk from neighboring countries to show respect to Imam Hussain's shrine (grandson of prophet Muhammad). Even though I am not visiting in October, I can feel the spirit in the air unlike any place I've ever been.

The mosques and mausoleums are STUNNING, and somehow, I got special VIP access into the back room to meet with the boss... and he gave me permission to film inside. This kind of permission is unheard of!

But my favorite thing about Karbala is the hospitality. You've probably noticed a theme by now - that the Middle East has the most hospitable people in the world and a perfect example of this is Karbala!

The main mosque provides hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of FREE meals to anyone who stops by. I've never seen anything like it in my life... And not only that, but the local people will open their doors to all visitors.

We randomly got invited into a family's home where they cooked us a 10 course meal.

All of that and more in this amazing episode, which I hope will change your perspective about Iraq.

Welcome to NAJAF! From Karbala we drove to the city, started with the famous kebab (apparently) and then headed to the shrines in the evening. Iraq comes alive at night so it is great to see what the cities are like after dark. We were of course greeted again with amazing Iraqi hospitality before ending the night with Shisha!

Najaf, Iraq ➖ After catching an 8-hour bus from Basra, I had arrived in the 2nd holiest city in Iraq, Najaf. My first mission was to get a taxi and find a hotel to stay the night at. I met a friendly guy who dropped me off near the centre of town and I walked to what I thought would be a good hotel. Good is an understatement for the hotel, it was exceptional! After having a short rest it was time to explore and check out the holy shrine of Imam Ali, what an incredible sight it was. I even met a friendly local called Azhar who showed me around the area and bought me some dinner, he was an incredible guy!

It is said that when Jesus returns to earth, he will rule the world from Kufa in Iraq. Kufa is a town down the road from Najaf in Iraq. The Great Mosque of Kufa is a significant ceremonial center for Shia Muslims in Iraq. Millions of religious pilgrims travel to Kufa every year to see the shrines and the Grand Mosque of Kufa which is one of the most incredible attractions in Iraq.

Day 2 in Karbala! I had no idea it was the School holidays this week and also the anniversary of Lady Zaynab's Death ,( the sister or Imam Hussein.)
met a fellow traveller Raman from the USA ! So after the first Shrine for some reason we were all given a hard tome taking any videos in the other shrine and even the area inbetween the two shrines, i have Vlogged there before and i've seen many others vlog there also in the past, it seems that if you actually do the right thing and actually ask for permission it goes against you hahaha.....last time i went i didn't ask for any permission and nobody said anything ( i just lost all my footage)
it started to get so so busy, there were no hotels left at this point. so i decided to leave and hope i have time to go back again and do things a bit differently....it was stunning to see it lit up in red though!....the emotions of people were so intense it was very surreal, their devotion is also like nothing ive ever seen before, anywhere! i hope to get back soon!!

Both are the sons of Imam Hussain AS, who were martyred alongside Imam Hussain AS on the day of Ashura.

All three personalities are buried within the Holy Shrine shown in the video.

On the day of Ashura, the 10th of Muharram, Imam Hussain AS, the grandson of the Holy Prophet of Islam, alongside his family, friends, and companions was massacred for taking action against tyranny and oppression. On the plains of Karbala, Iraq 1400 years ago. To this day the lovers of Imam Hussain AS visit his Mausoleum, in the millions.

Notably, last year on Arbaeen, the 40th day after Ashura, 21,000,000, 21 million, lovers of Imam Hussain AS, gathered at his burial site, in the name of Imam Hussain AS. Arbaeen is the largest peaceful gathering in the world.

During the Ziyarat of Imam Hussain AS in Karbala Iraq, millions of piligrims also make the journey to visit other holy personalities in Najaf ul Ashraf, Kadhimiyah, and Samarra Iraq.
