Islamabad hiking trails are the perfect getaway from city life. Most of theses trails are located in the Margalla Hills of Islamabad, one of the most famous amongst them is Trail 5 which starts just off the Margalla Road and ends at Monal Restaurant in Pir Sohawa.
Evident from the live gps map, hiking trail 5 has several trail splits which can vastly change the direction and total distance. The real time gps tracking indicates a total trekking duration of almost 3 hours, although that can vary for each individual. Trail 5 total distance to Monal comes out to be just over 10 km with an elevation gain of 532m and final altitude of 1108m.
Due to its a relatively short distance and duration, Trail 5 Margalla Hills is popular amongst both serious and casual trekkers. A popular trend amongst locals is to trek up Islamabad trail 5 to Monal Restaurant early morning and have fresh and delicious breakfast with the best view in town.
For those who are passionate about hiking in pakistan, hiking in islamabad's trails is the perfect starting point for future longer, tougher and more fascinating treks in northern pakistan!

Trail 5 goes to Monal Restaurant. there are different trails like trail 3, trail 5, trail 6. People go for hiking on there trails and they have dinner there.

Most beautiful scene of nature beauty between the mountain. The most famous and old hiking track of Islamabad. It starts from the Margalla road sector F-6. The trail is exhausting to some extent, due to steep hills. The course will lead you to the which goes up to the Viewpoint and is about a 30 - 50 min. track. After the Viewpoint you can continue on for another easy-going 45 - 60 mins and reach the Pir Sohawa, where you can choose from 2 restaurants for food, The Monal and La Montana. In totality, it is approximately one hour thirty minute walk.
