Why Japanese Calligraphy Ink Is So Expensive | So Expensive | Insider Business
Traditional Japanese calligraphy ink, referred to as sumi ink, comes in a solid form. It takes at least four years of production before these ink sticks can be sold, and even longer for the most expensive ones. A 200-gram high-grade ink stick from a producer like Kobaien costs over $1,000. And at some other retailers, prices can reach almost $2,000. Meanwhile, almost double the amount of commercial India ink can go for as little as $9.

The glass pen exhibition of Yoshitaka Tajima, who mainly makes glass pens at his studio
Studio Kasho located in Maruoka Town, Sakai City, Fukui Prefecture, is being held at
Fukui Kougeisha Craft Gallery. Glass pens are relatively expensive, so they might not be familiar to people, but they are beautiful attractive writing tools that have practical features that you can change ink color easily, light and your hands don't get tired and repairable. Mr. Tajima wanted people to use glass pens casually and released new glass pen series Wood Glass Pen. The series are well-received and he has been very busy working on the production. We interviewed him in the gallery.

Modern Japanese “Coral Humming” Dip Pen Ink
OGG Flex Fountain Pens #45: Franklin Christoph 31 Omnis Antique Glass, Flex nib
So I had the FC 66 in Emerald but I really wanted the Antique Glass (aka coke bottle). Then I saw it on ebay and I grabbed it. Swapped nibs and put the flex in the 31. It is a nice pen.
BTW shown in part of the video is my TiltWell, its a product that I have on Etsy.... just search for Tiltwell on etsy. Its a 3d printed ink bottle stand that holds the bottle at 45 degrees.
Unboxing Two Drillog Dip Pens and Plaisir's 10th Year Anniversary Fountain Pens
Drillog means drill and dialog. It's a pen company from Gifu, Japan. Their dip pens are very modern and stylish. The blue dip pen is called Drillog Classical Mirage, while the orange pen is called the Drillog Classical Spiral.
The interchangeable nibs come in 2 sizes: 0.5mm and 0.8mm. I ordered these pens from Tokyo Faves PH on Facebook.
I also bought Plaisir's 10th Anniversary Limited Edition fountain pens with gradation colors from the same FB Page. There are two types of nibs for these fountain pens: F (fine) and M (medium).
