The GUATEMALA CITY they DON’T tell YOU about! (con subtitulos)

What comes to mind when you hear Guatemala City or Guatemala in general? Is it danger? That it is an unsafe travel destination? Well unfortunately for many who haven’t visited this beautiful country those are the words they use to describe it, especially when it comes to Guatemala City. Guatemala City is not only the capital of Guatemala but it is the largest city in Central America. Most tourists choose to skip it all together based on it’s bad reputation but over our years of traveling we have come to know to not believe everything you hear or read on the internet so we have made it a point to seek the truth. Is Guatemala City a good place to visit? Are there fun things to do in Guatemala City or is it a place you should stay away from? Well we hope that this video gives you a bit of an inside scoop as to what Guatemala City is like so the next time you fly into Guatemala you can give it a chance or not! #guatemalacity #guatemala

Solo in Guatemala's Most Violent Cartel Hood! (Zone-18)????????

Guatemala City is divided into different zones. The biggest and most violent is Zone 18. It is fully controlled by gang members (Mara 18) and every local I asked warned me not to visit this place at all. Not even its small central market.
I fully respect their advice which is for my own good, but I am very curious to see with my own eyes what this Hood Cartel looks like and most importantly what the locals there have to say about the most dangerous place in Guatemala City.

Let's see.....

“They don’t like Tourists here!”???????? | Off the beaten path - Guatemala

In this video you are going to see another side of Guatemala which is off the beaten path.I took a crazy 7 hour long bus ride through the jungle of Guatemala. We went through so many isolated indigenous villages where the locals do not even speak Spanish nor have they become accustomed to foreigners. Then I took another small boat for 2 hours across a beautiful river to get to a place called Livingston and it is probably one of the most interesting places I am going to explore.

Leggo!

The Most Dangerous Hood in Belize

Belize has one of the highest murder rates in the world, 37.79 per 100 000 inhabitants. It makes it fifth dangerous country in the world in 2022. Most of the problems are caused by the gangs which live in the infamous southern parts of Belize City. I wanted to see the situation with my own eyes and visited this sketchy neighborhood.

Secrets of SAN LUCAS, GUATEMALA - Street Tour Of This Hidden Gem On Lake Atitlan!!

Read all about my adventures in the travel memoir Beers, Tears & Broken Veneers available to buy right here on Amazon:

If you ask BACKPACKERS about where they visited on LAKE ATITLAN they will invariably reply with the usual itinerary: PANAJACHEL, SAN PEDRO, SAN MARCOS, SAN JUAN and SANTIAGO. Not many TRAVELERS explore SAN LUCAS, and that was exactly why it appealed to me. I like places that are least visited by TOURISTS, it makes the whole experience so unique.

After arriving from Panajachel by BOAT I had to go and find a HOTEL or GUESTHOUSE, this was my first priority because my style is rather chaotic; I arrive first and then find a hotel. But it was EASTER weekend and most of the hotels were booked. What I discovered was there was only about 4 hotels in the whole town, no exaggeration. After searching for an hour some random dude from PIZZA HUT (I am not joking) helped me find a hotel for only 100 q's (about 12 - 13 bucks). The only problem was it was only available for one night, so I would have to film this entire video the following day....and then leave for my next location the following day.

I woke up early the next day, packed my SUITCASE and BACKPACK, CHECKED out of my room and left my LUGGAGE in reception whilst I went out and filmed this video. What can I tell you about SAN LUCAS then? Well its a very small town and there isn't much western tourists. During my 24 hours there I literally only seen one other western person who was walking his dog. I tried to strike up a conversation with him and he basically ignored me. Why are western people so unfriendly when they go on holiday, it boggles my mind. I was not deterred by this and continued my tour. Like Panajachel and a few other towns that I have visited on Lake Atitlan there is a heap of STREET ART, very vibrant and very beautiful. What sets the street art in San Lucas apart from the other towns is its the only one to feature MOSAIC STREET ART. These works of art can be found all over the town, frankly speaking they are randomly presented on walls, I think there should be big signs indicating their presence because they are so amazing. The mosaic art varies in size but they are all fascinating. Painstakingly created from hundreds and thousands of small pieces of GLASS, TILE and STONE. They are truly worth seeking out, I must have seen and photographed over 20.

The BEACH is also another highlight in SAN LUCAS. The water is so crisp and blue, the scenery is stunning and there is lots of places to get your picture taken I have to admit the beach was packed when I visited, due to the fact that it was the weekend and Easter. But there was still plenty of space to take in the glories sights. There is also a CHURCH in town less than 2 minutes from the beach and its a beautiful structure which is centuries old, well worth a look. The town centre is very nice to walk around and enjoy an ice cream At night time it is packed due to the fact that the STREET VENDORS are open for business selling lots of different types of food and cheap prices.

I really enjoyed my short time in San Lucas and I'm so glad that I came. Yes, there is possibly more beautiful and exciting towns on Lake Atitlan. But none of them have the charm and unique mosaic art. It was so peaceful in San Lucas, in spite of the fact that it was eater weekend, I just loved it. So whether you are a street art lover or just want a break from busier towns like Panajachel or San Pedro I would highly reccomend checking it out.
