Marrakech is located in the center of Morocco. With its vibrant colors, buzzing atmosphere, mix of tradition and modernity, and aromatic smells, it’s a city like no other: Marrakech truly stimulates all your senses at once.
10. Explore the Marrakech medina (free walking tour)
The medina is the heart of the Marrakech, packed with shops, traditional houses called “riads”, restaurants, and many of the historic sites.

7. Find peace at the Majorelle Gardens
Located in Marrakech’s new town, these lush botanical gardens are filled with cacti, palms, and other colorful trees.
6. Stroll around Mellah Jewish Quarter
There are still a number of Jewish places here, including the Lazama Synagogue, the Miara Jewish Cemetery, and the Spice Market.
5. Get lost in the souks
What makes the souks in Marrakech remarkable is the wide variety of exotic items you can buy, such as babouches, lanterns, ceramics, carpets, and leather goods.

The Saadian Ruler Al-Mansour who was buried in the Saadian Tombs built this grand palace in the 16th century.
3. See the beautiful Bahia Palace
After El Badi Palace, it might be interesting to see the contrast with the beautiful Bahia Palace, which was built in the late 19th century.
2. Go on a day tour to the Ouzoud Waterfalls
With a height of 110 meters or 360 feet, these are the tallest waterfalls in the country. A day tour from Marrakech includes a hike down to the river, do a short boat ride to get closer to the falls, and hike up again.

I surprised (kind of) my boyfriend Andrew with a trip to Marrakech to celebrate his 30th birthday this year! This was both our first times stepping foot on the diverse continent of Africa. With this being a birthday getaway, we didn't want to pack our itinerary too much and just wanted to focus on spending time in the city at a leisurely pace. In this vlog, we drank SO MUCH mint tea, got pampered at a hammam, rode camels in the desert, and haggled away at all the tempting souks (markets). Souk Shopping in Marrakech, Morocco! | Friendly Locals & Delicious Food on Rooftop Terraces
Welcome to our final days in Marrakech, Morocco.
We definitely feel more confident and comfortable exploring the souks - now that the initial culture shock has subsided. We venture through the winding markets, and find ourselves bartering for a lantern (unsuccessfully).
We then stumble inside a beautiful spice shop, where the friendly local does a demonstration of his special paint pigments and minerals. From Morocco's famous Majorelle blue, to Marrakech red - it's amazing how strong the colours are, and how some of them change colour! We are in awe, and leave the shop very happy with our purchases (now that's a good salesman)!
We finish our day at our favourite rooftop terrace - L'Mida. After gobbling down some veggie cous cous, lemon mint tea and desert, we start one of our final walks home to our Airbnb. We absorb the surrounds of the streets of Marrakech, and vow we will be back one day.
