Glacier National Park - Hiking and Photographing Grinnell Glacier

Our first full day at Glacier National Park started off with an unexpected guest interview before heading out to the Grinnell Glacier. We are staying at the Many Glacier Hotel in a remote part of the park. This is the perfect place to stay if you are looking for rustic luxury. Every evening this week, we are going to be out wildlife viewing with plenty of landscape photography. Join my wife and I for the next several episodes as we explore the Crown of the Continent.

Grinnell Glacier Trail 4K | Glacier National Park Hiking Guide

#protectglacier #glaciernationalpark #hikingguide #climatechange

Trailhead: Grinnell Glacier Trail Parking Area
Difficulty: Strenuous
Distance: 11 Miles
Elevation gain: 1700 ft

You'd be hard-pressed to find a trail that offers a better selection of Glacier National Park's scenery, wildlife, and history. Grinnell Glacier in addition to being the park's most accessible glacier also bears the name of one of the most influential conservationists responsible for the region's preservation.

You'll encounter 4 stunning lakes: Swiftcurrent, Josephine, Lower Grinnell, and upper Grinnell and get up-close looks at two of the parks quickly disappearing glaciers.

Outhouses: Grinnell Glacier parking area, west shore of Lake Josephine near the boat dock, near trail's end before exiting treeline. The final outhouse is concealed from view. If you've passed the treeline you've gone too far.

Dispose of all waste properly, and carry out ALL trash.
What to do if you can't make it to an outhouse:
